PROJECT DESIGN GALLERY WALLS

You know what I hate?  Mondays.  Yup....there I said it.  And seeing a dead roach on the kitchen floor when I wake up.

Nasty little suckers.

There doesn't seem to be anything I can do about Mondays or dead roaches if history tells me anything:)

Let's just get down to some design.

It's time to discuss what is going on my gallery wall.   [first post]

Who the heck knows.

JK.....I kinda have an idea.

Of course it will be the 11th hour before I actually decide the final version.

Here is the only tip I can offer:

Newsflash.... like you haven't seen this before.

The last time I did a large gallery wall I started with brown craft paper.  And if you think that stuff is easy to work with....think again.  They were so darn curly I had to iron them.

Not exactly the extra step I needed......but if you are looking for perfection then plan on it.

Of course you can always go the random "throw them up" for that eclectic feel.  I am a fan of both looks.

I had 8 of these vintage gray and white botanicals that I purchased at Scott's [years ago].  I went to Michaels to get a price on having the mats done when the nice guy behind the counter gave me a suggestion.

Get some paper and just lay the prints on top so the slightly browned edges will show.

Crickets.....uh hell yeah.  Probably not good for Michaels bottom line but I was on board!

I mean a couple of dollars for paper or $20 for mats.

I selected these frames.

Which because I live right....they miraculously had the 8 I needed.

And there you have it.

Hopefully next week this area will be gushing with art.

I have to figure out a good plan to extend them beyond the shelves......

Because you guys are so unbelievable important I will think of nothing else until this gallery wall is epic.

You can see it next Monday!

Here are the other peeps who are stressing over their walls.

See ya Wednesday for the third week of the ORC!

You made me feel better because I've laid art on top before to save $. Can't wait to see the rest.

I actually thought of doing the same thing with my prints and skipping the whole mat thing. But mine don't have those gorgeous browned edges...I can't wait to see it all!

You are my kinda girl! That is exactly the process I use...throw them up and hope for the best! I do love those prints and what a great idea...who wants to lose the natural "patina". Thank you so much for doing this...you must be ready to kill us right about now trying to do the OrC as well!!

Hey, Chief and I had the same idea to use paper under little prints...I needed to make them bigger for the cost of a sheet of paper :) I like your gallery wall location and shelves so much already!!

And Ps...the last time I used curly brown paper templates, they kept falling down off the wall...inducing a major hot flash and I just started winging it.

Ooh… this is going to look good!! I have the same method except that I am too lazy to go out and buy craft paper. I use what I have on hand, which happens to be grocery bags. It is probably more time consuming cutting those bad boys into the correct sizes and removing the handles, etc, then it would be to go to the store and get craft paper. What is wrong with me?

Happy Monday!!

I like how you filled that vase with dusty miller or lambs ear? I plan to steal that idea. Thanks!

Love the prints! Love the suggestion from the nice guy at Michaels. Why cover up all their beautiful vintageness (is that a real word??) It IS going to be epic. :) And I think you are further ahead on this project than the rest of us!

I love your gallery walls... and those gray and white botanicals are amazing. I like the gray mats.. i can see how all the colors are going to be gorgeous together. Cool that they had 8 of the frames. That dark gray and white striped lumbar pillow on the sofa is so great too.

Any of you nice ladies feel free to answer but what do you use to keep the botanical on the paper/mat so it doesn't slip and also so you don't ruin your botanicals. You might want to change in the future. I have some very vintage botanicals that I love and would hate to ruin them. I got them on ebay ions ago. Thanks in advance for your help. What product would accomplish this???

That's one of the things I love about the Bay Area -- no roaches.

You have to circle for ten minutes and then stalk someone with a cart to find a parking spot at Trader Joes, but there are no roaches.

Of course it will be epic. Everything you touch is.
