HOW TO STYLE USING CATALOG ITEMS

Thanks so much for all of your sweet comments about Taylor and Lauren's wedding.  I swear.... every time I think about that Mother/Son dance I get a huge lump in my throat.....

Occasionally when I am flipping through a catalog certain items will jump out at me and I am reminded of what I tend to use over and over when I am styling my own house or a project.

This time it was West Elm....which is were you will find all of the items below.

First up is this rug.....does it remind you of anything?

KW Channels fabric from Lee Jofa.  Such an amazing fabric and I am crazy about the rug version!  I used this pillow at my sisters house during the last ORC.

Mid Century style is all over the place now.....

I found a couple of similar chairs at a flea market..
I used one of them in my charity project for the United Methodist Children's Home.

I also painted one white and recovered it in a zebra stenciled cow hide at my house.

It's no secret of my obsession love for green glass bottles....

This shot of my family room is at least 5 years ago....and I still use them all over my house!

I will always find a little spot for green sea glass.

Love this pillow from WE.....sometimes you just need to throw a little animal print in a room....

In my own house....

OK....white vases.....can't go wrong.

Stuff some greenery in them and instant perfection....yep and more animal.

Using on a project

I still love this floor lamp with it's oversized shade...

I used it in a project a couple of years ago...

Mid Century style turquoise lamp.....

We found this one at a flea market to help bring some color in this vignette.

And....these great trays!

I have one and love it!

Never underestimate a tray with texture....
You can layer it with a smaller tray on top....

Here are a few other things from WE that I could be excited to use in a project .

This wood coffee table......priority!

These cute "boho" pillows

These neutral pillows....

Love the finish and style of this night stand.

Pom Pom pillows

These days you don't have to be a designer with "to the trade only" sources.  With catalogs like WE, PB, Wisteria, Crate and Barrel, Home Decorators, RH along with all of the online sites beautiful rooms are just a click away!

LAST PICTURES OF UMCH....

Well OK...maybe not the last.....but I never did post the whole room.  You can read about the UMCH  here.  The talented Christina Wedge took some awesome professional shots but I don't have access to them yet.  Erika is working on the E-Zine which will have all the pictures, paint colors, and the designers inspiration.

Soon.

Here are a few more before and afters of my space.

If you remember I was thinking about taking this long cabinet out but there was no flooring underneath.....So I replaced the countertop.

Remember those stools I got a Scott's?  The lamp was from Target [not the shade]  The EXPLORE letters came from World Market, along with the 2 baskets.  Clock is from Ikea.

If you can see, I found some old maps and license plates.  I also had that oil painting I had bought at a flea market.

Before of the TV wall.

I found the dresser at Olivia Morgan Flea Market.  You know the vases are from the Nate Berkus collection.  I had the chair in my basement forever....like 10 years.
The prints came from the 10.00 table at Scott's and the frames from Michaels [during a 50% off sale].  I also had the pillow.  Duh....

The sunburst mirror was a find at Homegoods.  Best Buy really came through on the TV....46" LED for 250.00 and they threw in the mount.  It was an open box and did have a few scratches on it.

Here is a closeup of the Expedit shelving from Ikea in the new glossy gray.   Those encyclopedias  were already there so I used them.  All of the other old books came from a flea market.  Most of the small artifacts I had around the house.  I did buy that one little ram head from Target.

More books that were already there.

One last shot of the whole room before...

And after.

Now...I don't know if you remember or not but there was a bathroom.

It was pretty much used as a storage room.  Yuk.  I put on my hazmat suit [sorry about the open seat] and cleaned that sucker.

Yes I did.

Sad to say that I had to go really cheap and cheerful with this space....and pretty much did the whole thing on Thursday [the rooms had to be done on Friday].

I slapped up a few stripes.

Added a few rugs from Target. A mirror from Ikea.....there was NO overhead light in this room,  so I just got a plug in one from Ikea and added the little thingy from Home Depot where you can turn it off and on with a switch.  Genius.

Also painted an accent wall and had this piece of slate in my stash from Scott's.

Oh yeah...one more thing.

This is the bathroom and shower area.  My friend Jan stepped up and dressed it up a little.

Just a few little touches.....

I could not have done it with out all the help from many of you who donated....over the internet even!

Mitchell Gold & Bob Williams [sofa and 2 chairs], Castle Painting, Oak Street Electrical, Myers Carpet , Private Bank of Decatur and all the time and energy Jan and Patty gave me.

I have a bedroom install tomorrow....so excited.  Hope they will let me post some pictures :)

Chill out....it's Sunday people!

A BEFORE AND AFTER

I have a situation.

Not like the problem of World Peace...or Cancer, or being Without Electricity for 2 weeks....but it is a problem none the less.

In a nutshell....
This is Zipper.  The sign pretty much sums it up.  I mean he has a cute face and all...but I can NEVER kiss it.  Don't let the innocent look fool you.....he is relentless.

I have tried everything.  Picture me as the "poop nazi" in the backyard with plastic gloves on trying to get it before he does.

I have taken to giving him Altoids for his breath.

We are at a standoff.

Now to the before and after....the kitchen at the UMCH.

Here is the before
Here are the details....they could not do much.  This kitchen had just been renovated recently.  No painting cabinets or changing the backsplash....which meant they had to use some great creativity to get this space cute.

Those 3 refrigerators would have stumped me for sure.

The day Jennifer painted those numbers was an ah ha moment.  I walked by and she had a paint brush and some chalk paint in her hand.  About 30 minutes later they were done and in my opinion made such an impact on how this kitchen turned out.

The bottom of the island was all rusted and in pretty bad shape......great idea.
A simple roman shade....some greenery.

Adding those incredible Ballard's lanterns sealed the deal.  With all the great things to focus on you hardly notice the cabinets anymore.

I think most people would assume that the only way to make this space cute would be to paint the cabinets.  That being said....look how much time, effort, and money they saved.    Adding the black and white was perfect.

I love the framed birds.  One frame did not have a mat so Lisa just added some black herringbone fabric behind the picture.  Brilliant.

Kind of makes you rethink those maple cabinets huh?????  These would all be great staging ideas.

Way to go Lisa and Jennifer.

Why does Anonymous keep sending me these????

Have I ever mentioned that I would be interested in an Elephant Tube????

Strange.

Don't let Monday beat you up......
