DESIGN PLAN FOR MY SISTERS SCREENED PORCH

Well the hits just keep on coming.....I'm sick.  Again.  Third time this year.  Geez....

But hey....life goes on and I can't let it get me down.  Moving forward right?

So while everyone is posting fall decor and pumpkins....I'm going to do an outdoor post.

Yeah I need to pay more attention to "blogging rules" :)

Now that my sister's LR, DR, and office look so good due to the spring ORC....she wanted to spruce up her screened in porch.

We started with paint.  And....it was time to go dark.  BM Iron Mountain

Loving.  Not keeping the table but that iron bar cart will stay with some pretty styling!

So furniture....I am using my friends outdoor furniture company because I am nothing if not supportive:)

Let's start with a quickly put together floor plan.

A sectional will give me the most comfy seating and let me add a dining area.

I picked the Hampton Sectional but adding 1 extra chair to it to get the size I need.

I really like the color of it against the dark walls....

I went to town on Overstock looking for pillows and rugs!

I will need some extra lighting but I love the rattan sconces to hang on the dark walls as you walk in from the office!  Unfortunately NOT from Overstock....grrrrrrr.

I found the outdoor dining furniture on CB2.  If you look back to the painting pictures you will see that the ceiling fan needs replacing and it needs to go above the rafters because it is way too low!

How about some pretty table decor.  The plates are melamine...so perfect for outdoors. All from Crate and Barrel.

I haven't selected a coffee table yet but I might push the easy button and use the one that goes with the sectional just because why make it harder right?

I'll keep you posted on how it's going.  Hopefully everything gets ordered this week!

Today I am driving down to Madison, Ga to check on the renovation progress and make sure everything I picked out will work!

Busy times.

Thanks for reading y'all....

THIS AND THAT

So I had good intentions of posting about my trip to Nashville and the House Beautiful Showhouse but well....I didn't have time to edit the pictures.  I know lame excuse.

So dare I call this post "this and that" because just dumping a bunch of random thoughts and images  can't really be considered professional blogging can it?

On the other hand....I have a lot of projects in the works but it seems like they are all in weird places and not especially beefy enough for a whole post!

I have a bedroom and bath overhaul going on for my neighbor so this vanity got painted Sherwin Williams Black Fox and then wallpapered with a pretty Schumacher gem.

Before

After

I love how rich the vanity looks now with this existing cool stone top.

In other news I finally got back to working out.  I just haven't had the energy but I know for my mental health this is key.  Even my eyelids are sore....haha.

Stopped off at a clients house and goodness....look at the darn ferns....have you ever?

They are huge!

Do y'all remember my Madison project?  Well it's undergoing a renovation to add a guest wing and turn the old barn into a guest/bath/morning kitchen.

Way before....

After....and soon to have another after:)

This is the plan for one of the bathrooms....excited about the green floors!

Stopped by another project that is getting a major overhaul.  I love the style of this one!  It was built  in 1920 so while it's down to the studs now on the inside they are hoping to hang on the this southern California Spanish style.

This cute top from Ann Taylor is one you might need to check out

It has a loose mock turtleneck which I love.  I can't stand anything tight around my neck...especially when half of my lower face hangs over it:)

I also did a quick cruise through Pottery Barn and spotted these awesome napkins!  If you have been around a while I think you know that PB usually goes all "deep rich colors" in the fall. You can pretty much bank on it.

Well I noticed that the whole place was full of neutrals!  Yeah....how about that.  And now they have baskets....

PB is always on trend right?

I had lunch with a good friend yesterday at the OK Cafe and she put something in perspective for me....which I really hadn't thought of and that is:  many woman my age are without a spouse either through death or divorce.....it's kind of the norm.  It was like an aha moment for me.  I was so busy thinking selfishly about me...me....me.  Then I thought about my Mom who lost her husband at 63.  Was she devastated....yes but she still lived another 10 happy years.

The OK Cafe has a take out section.....I have lived here 30 years and have eaten there so many times....how did I not know that?

So it's "this and that" after all.  To all of you who have never commented before but have taken the time to reach out I am sending you lots of love.

I am confident in saying that love is the baseline for everything right?  And loving yourself is truly the key....but that is a whole can of worms.  Because.... deep down you have to truly understand yourself which definitely comes with age [but some of us are slow learners].  insert smile:)

You can imagine how much thought I have given to this in the last few weeks.  What does "loving yourself" actually mean?  Imma be reading up on this so I don't keep making mistakes associated with the next chapter of my life.

Look at me being all deep....who the heck am I?

BATHROOM RENO UPDATE

So....I have a little update with the bathroom in Boulder.  This....is why we make the big bucks.... for realz.

Not sure if I told you but the bathroom has to be finished by Thanksgiving.

Uh Huh.  37 days.

So I prance up to The Tile Shop on Saturday which is a measly 1/8  of a mile from my house.

And that is where it starts to go down hill.  First of all when I left it was sprinkling.  Within 20 minutes of me being in there it turned into a monsoon and the temperature dropped about 20 degrees.

Swear.  But wait....

So he picked this plan.

Which I really liked.  AND....was excited to go pay for it so that Greg could pick it up in Denver and get going.

The sound of a scratching record.  Yeah....found out that the floor tile was "only for walls"  and it was very shinny so no bueno.

OK....let's regroup.  I can do this....well I had to do it.... because time was crucial.

I stayed with everything but I changed the floor tile.  He loves blue so it is a win win right?

Wrong.

Not in stock and wouldn't arrive to the distribution center until a week before Thanksgiving.  I almost started crying right there.  I am still a little fragile.

So I left and decided to go to Floor and Decor.  Nada.  Home Depot.  Nada.  Remember it is pouring and I am dressed for summer.

Freezing.

I drove to my favorite tile place without calling and it was closed.  I slumped in my seat.  Sigh.

Ok back to The Tile Shop.  Geez....I can do this...there is plenty of tile in that place.

After all....I am a professional.

So I went all "Boulder Organic"....I had to go home to let Cami out for a quick bathroom break and I grabbed a few other wallpaper samples....and a coat.

I forgot about this Thibaut paper which is a favorite....

This will be the countertop [Caesarstone:  Symphony Grey] with the vanity painted SW Roycroft Pewter

And here you have it.....all in stock.

It only took 5 hours.

He is picking up the tile on Thursday.

I'll keep you posted on the process.

In other news I went to Nashville to see the House Beautiful Showhouse.  It was so nice to get away from my life for a few days.  Of course pulling back in my driveway.....I was like "Oh Yeah"....it all came back to me.

Imagine you've been married for 26 years....together 30 and besides a few informative emails....there has been no communication.
Hard to believe.
48 days.

SERENBE DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE

Thanks for weighing in on the bathroom reno.  I agree it is not a bad bathroom....we have all seen worse for sure.  A bit of styling and it would look like a different space.

But....he has just moved in and wants to change it so it is up to me to give him options:)

That said....I think he is liking the last one!  Which I'm down with.

Anyway....I went to the Serenbe Showhouse last weekend with a few friends.  It was a much needed day out and there is nothing I like more than strolling through a well designed home.  If you have been reading Design Indulgence for any length of time then I know you will agree with me!

Love...love the entrance to this house....for real!

My friend Michelle from Michele Gratch Interiors did the laundry room, mudroom and powder bath....so good.

That black and white Thibaut wallpaper.

The mudroom right off the powder....

Um there are no words necessary for the kitchen....#black and white

Designed by A. Wooten Interiors

Directly across from the kitchen is the dining area...more black and white!

I always love a pretty light fixture that reflects the light on the ceiling....Circa Lighting

Here is the master bedroom designed by Kim Regas

Love this little couch at the foot of the bed....

And master bath...so pretty

I have used this Thibaut wallpaper before and it is a favorite....

Coming out of the bedroom was this really pretty gallery wall....

The living room was designed by Means + Carney

Again....another room designed just for me...haha.

And then the porch....you can tell I was all in with this showhouse right?

Let's go upstairs to see 2 more bedrooms.

This loft space was designed by Virginia Cheek Designs.  Love the black and white  wallpaper on the ceiling [Zak and Fox]

There were twin beds in this room....designed by Kenson Interiors

And lookey here....no description necessary.... more black and white.....by Coley Cuttino Interiors.

More black and white.....Geez....I'm SO in with all of this....

This was definitely a good showhouse....very cohesive with the colors but if course I am prejudice so you can't really go by that:)

I am rushing to get this out as I have been in Nashville for 48 hours.  More on that later.
