ASO DESIGNER SHOWHOUSE

I'm sorry I missed Friday....I have been feeling a little unhinged lately and I just could not gather my thoughts to say much of anything.  I mean I had things to say but I couldn't decide what was relevant and what wasn't.....what was interesting or might be blog worthy.

My brother in law was admitted to the hospital on Friday for dehydration, weight loss and infection where the port is.  He had his last chemo yesterday and and has 2 more radiation treatments.  After that he has a month break until major surgery where they remove the esophagus.  My niece and nephew flew in as "patient and caretaker" are definitely struggling....each with their own set of issues.  Nothing puts a strain on a relationship like the devastation of a cancer diagnosis.

The love is still there......always.

And.....last week my brother had a heart attack.  Luckily  he got to the hospital in time and he was 95% blocked in the area called the "widow maker".  He's fine now.

So that is 3 bad things for our family....

Hello God....are you listening?  We could use a small break.  I know you are busy fighting a big virus .....I get it....but please a sprinkle of good news would be welcome:)

Alrighty then....let's take care of a little design business!  I was invited to preview the ASO Showhouse on Thursday so I put on my "Sunday Best" and met my friend Lisa Mowry there for a huge dose of creativity!

It is a "modern" showhouse....and many were still working on their rooms since it didn't open until Saturday....plus I was running my mouth a bit so my picture taking was a little weak.

I got there a few minutes before Lisa and so I spent some extra time in the space right off the foyer by Cloth and Kind and I gotta tell ya....it was my fave.  That's just me....lot's of organic feels and of course the styling was on point.  That green color....citron or chartreuse was sprinkled throughout the house.

This was a "his" lounge....dark and moody by Justin Q. Williams

The dining area by Barbara Westbook...

I have always loved a space that is both primitive and modern....

More of Barbara's design in the family room.

Matthew Quinn and team designed a beautiful modern kitchen!

I love the flat cabinet doors with that unusual hardware in the laundry room.....

Here you can see the stairs leading up to bedrooms and and down to a media room with a pretty bar area.

I am all about unusual design and this bathroom by Bradley Odom fits that bill......

The closet was designed as a meditation room.....by Leah May.  This was another color that I saw throughout the house.

Here you can see the spaces unfold going down the stairs....

More color downstairs with Trinity Design.

Media room by Fifty Eight Interiors

This is not all the rooms.....but like I said the designers were not finished....as this was media day.  Y'all know that Atlanta is known for classic traditional spaces but I think it's fun to step outside for a little taste of modern.

So....we are back to rain here in Atlanta....4 days of it until the weekend.

As always....thanks for all of your support on this little social media platform.  I am always amazed when people come here to read me jabbering on about life, design and a little fashion.

Tomorrow is my birthday.  Yup I will be 68 years old.  I can hardly wrap my head around it....and of course all the changes in the last 6 months.  Cami and I will celebrate together:)

Look at me trying to direct her and she is not having it:)

THIS AND THAT

You know what we haven't done in a while?  A 'this and that" post where I basically just dump some "instagram post and stories on the blog.  I realize that many of you aren't on Instagram but if you are and have already seen them...well then just shut this post down and go pluck your eyebrows or something.

Starting with Matthew Quinns book signing at Michael Ladisics home a week after I returned from Boulder.  I spent 2 days there re-styling everything and doing flowers....not sure how I got through that.

Book one is on the bottom of this stack and the new book is on top!  It's gorgeous and definitely worth every penny....you can order here

When I win the lottery.....I will hire him and then just be surprised.  #trust

Some styling shots....

This is a picture of the scullery...

And we added this Phillip Jeffries Wallpaper on the ceiling the day of the party.

                           #livingontheedge

Added these Lee Industries stools tucked under the table for extra seating.

I wore my sparkly skirt from Lafayette148 New York that I splurged on...

Remember I showed it on Instastories?

Wish I could afford the sweater:(

I was invited to a dinner sponsored by The Shade Store which was held at one of my favorite Atlanta restaurants Cape Dutch.

I wore the skirt again because people....it's price per wear right?

The fall ORC started.....and I am excited to follow along with all of the talented group....but especially my good friend Erika Ward!

I am also working on a new project for Ladisic Fine Homes.....this one is for sale people and it's gonna be epic!

Bedroom ceiling

Had a photoshoot with the talented Rustic White Interiors for a project that will be featured in Atlanta Home Magazine' winter issue....pretty excited about that:)

There is no shot he can't get!

I had dinner with some good friends and he took this book and highlighted all the pages that he thought would help me.  People have been extremely kind to me in every way.

And....a guest bedroom is getting this plan which I am extremely excited about!  The Schumacher wallpaper is getting installed today!

Can you believe this is a picture of my very first sheepie!  It was probably 1980!  It is the only one I have gotten as a puppy....all the others [4] I have rescued.  I really was a brunette....haha

And....this little 400,000 car.  Ferrari used Michael Ladisic's house to debut their new car.  I sat in it and felt like a bada**

I am excited to be included in this lineup.....

And last.....my friend Andrea Costa was diagnosed with Stage one breast cancer so we took her out and showed her some love.

So there you have it....moving forward and trying to stay busy.

Much love to all of you and Happy Friday!

PROJECT UPDATES

Thanks for all the sympathy and encouragement during my meltdown on the last post!  I knew I could turn to you for a couple of pats on the back and a thumbs up.

You really know how to make a gal feel special:)

The thing about feeling overwhelmed is that it doesn't last forever and you get a few things done and it all seems like you over-reacted....ha ha.

I do feel better except now I have a whole other problem and that is.... we are going out of town for a few days and I have to board Cami.....whaaaaa!

I wouldn't blame you if stopped reading my post cause all I do is complain....in fact I declare right now to turn over a new leaf.....positive thoughts only from now on  for the most part.

We'll see how long this last:)

A few updates on some projects....

First up the Boulder Flip.

Before kitchen

Cabinets going in.

Before

Adding the shiplap:)

Before

More shiplap.....call me crazy but I still like it!

Storage off the garage...

Tiled and drywalled!

And the before of the dreaded master bath which is the size of a postage stamp!  We stole 18" from a linen closet so when you step out of the shower you don't step right into the toilet.

We had to give it a wow factor.....

That's all I got because of course I rely on them to send me updates and they suck at that job!

Next on the agenda today is an update on the Pinewood Forest Showhouse for Atlanta Magazines Home.

I took a drive down there so I could see what I am up against.....meaning I need to figure out how I am going to design my space....and pronto I might add!

This is my space....the tower

I'm still a little concerned about going up and down these stairs a million times durning the install!

But so damn excited for my floors...

And my tile in the bathroom!

With these floors
Small tiny matte black about the size of a dime.

I have a bar area right when you walk in the door

And I painted the cabinets SW Stillwater.

And the fixture will mount on the side wall....

Sneak peek of the kitchen cabinets....

And the master bathroom vanity

I found this cool low bench at HomeGoods and threw that puppy right in my cart.  Not sure where it's going yet:)
It's amazing how you get super human strength when shopping.

Look at some of the cute houses in the neighborhood!

Now I want a red house right!

Worth a drive down there to check it out!

Alrighty then....since everyone is going to be on vaca this week I might take Tuesday off from blogging unless I run into something awesome that I need to share!

Happy 4th!
