BEFORE AND AFTER

Well howdy!

I have a fun "before and after" for you today.  If you follow me on Instagram then you saw my post from yesterday and y'all this is a doozy!

Get a cup of coffee cause this one is long:)

Linda called me about 2 months ago to help get her place in shape for her son's wedding reception being held at her home.  In this day of Covid.....weddings have gotten much smaller with just family so she was going to set up a table in her sunroom.

As a busy professional woman she had not done anything to her home for a long time and this was the catalyst she needed!

The goal....since time was short....was to paint, recover furniture, new rug and 2 new chandeliers.  AND of course re-zhush!

Let's start with paint....instead of painting all the trim which is costly we just tried to neutralize the walls....you can see that the walls were yellowish in this picture.

And in this one they were painted out SW Shoji White.

We also decided to change out the chandeliers....

I found this one from Low Country Originals.  It was custom made and shipped from Savannah.

It's made from copper piping which was good since we were already using a copper lamp she had.

After paint and securing the chandeliers I got to work finding enough fabric to recover the 2 sofas and 2 chairs.  That is a lot of fabric.....42 yards for the sofas alone!

Also enough yardage for the window treatments.  I wasn't going to re-invent the wheel.  Using the same rods and rings!

Just throwing them on the poles was another whole issue.  Here is Rose "dressing" them!

But in the end they looked great!

Below is the copper lamp she already had.  I just got a different lamp shade.

And here is the fixture hung!

Below are the recovered chairs.  These were from Lee Industries....and you can see we had the back cushion made taller!

I used performance fabric on both the sofas and chairs......

The picture below was the inspiration for the colors....dark gray...and touch of chartreuse!

The pillow fabric came from Kravet.

The rug from West Elm!

And.....here is the full before and after.  So much brighter!

Another thing we did was change out the wood top on the coffee table by adding a slab of marble!  That was a game changer!

A quick shot at the bookshelves....just cleaned them up a little!

This table was supposed to be painted but we just couldn't get it done in time.....so we just layered many books and things on it.....all was good.  Can't sweat the small stuff!

Here is a before and after shot of the same corner!

So....glad to check that box as they say!  On to other projects.....

Hope you guys have a great week.....I think the weather is supposed to get cool later in the week here so I will be glad to not be wearing a frizzy helmet on top of my head.....hee haw.

NATE BURKUS

I think most people can remember the first time they saw Nate....on Oprah.  He was so young and adorable....I fell in love instantly.  I have always adored his design aesthetic...right from the "get go".

His rooms are full of texture....mixing styles with perfection and layering like there's no tomorrow.

Remember his first apartment in Chicago?

Well after he moved to NYC he remodeled a new apartment and re-used so many things....mind you they were GREAT things!
Like the rug below.....

And the sofa below which looks to be the same on in his Chicago apartment!
Along with the word art.....

Another apartment...there is that black and white rug again....

So classic!

Then he married the adorable Jeremiah Brent and they now have another design show on TLC that is a favorite of mine just because they are so adorb together.  IMO

I bet you are wondering why I've gathered you together today.....well Nate has a new fabric line with Kravet....

You might think....well he designed this line for me.  Well maybe he did?  So what :).

Full of neutrals and texture.  Yes.... there were other colors but he really doesn't stray from his palette which is mine also.

But let's get back to Nates designs.....

They have sold the California house above....and have moved back to NYC with their 2 kids.

Remember his old NYC kitchen?

I am excited to see what he does next.....

Here are pictures of his first apartment in Chicago....

And better pictures of the same apartment found here

And a wonderful tour of the home they just sold in Brentwood Ca....with a cute video found here
I watched it twice!

#allthingsnate

So listen....I might be back on Friday but I can't promise anything....this is the biggest vacation week of the summer and even though I'm hanging here in Atlanta...maybe I will pretend I am on a staycation!

Hope you guys have the best 4th of July ever!
