A LITTLE BEFORE AND AFTER

Testing.....taps mike!  Anyone here?  I know....I will try to explain my absence at the bottom!

But I do have some project updates to share with you and I just checked back to see my post and realize it has been since August.  Crikey.....I am so lame.

So I think we left off talking about this project.  A man cave/billard room combined.  It is a basement that has stairs coming down the middle so on one side is the pool table and the other side a den.

Above is the plan.....the walls were painted Sherwin Williams: Slate tile.

I thought it would be fun to step outside the box and do a plaid sofa.....kind of take it into a 70's vibe!

I think we were all underwhelmed when it arrived because the walls were still "builder basement white"....It is the Lee Industries Apartment sofa.

But that is why you hire a designer because I could see the vision and knew it would be amazing when the walls were dark!

In the room with the pool table there are 2 niches which was a great place for a ledge for drinks.  One side was bigger so we were actually able to use some counter stools.

Here is the stone they selected....very cool!

There was also a small wall that was the perfect place for a banquette....see my inspo above.  I know it does not look that cool but just wait!

And here are the spaces all painted.  The new sofa looks great and of course there was a minor snafu.

First time in 30 years that I ordered some chairs with the wrong fabric.  UGH......it was the worst.

I couldn't decide what to do....try and sell them and order 2 more or order the correct fabric and have them recovered.

Meanwhile I said I could zhush the existing ones up until the new ones arrived.....

I decided to get the fabric and have recovered....

I also suggested to them to change the color of the felt on the pool table....I can be persuasive when I need to be:)

Ordered these sconces on Wayfair!

I found this vintage etagere at my fav antique store Antiques and Beyond....

Rose and I worked our magic using mostly what they had.  I bought a book end, a bowl and the sculpture.

Here is what this wall looked like before...we moved the TV to another wall.....

Finally the chairs came in....

They are swivel recliners!

And the pillows really helped to bring all of the colors together!

The wall clock was his Moms......I think he said that she once tried to sell it in a yard sale and it did not sell!

We also kept the coffee table...as it worked just fine!

The TV and drink ledge was installed.....and you can see the pretty felt color on the pool table!

Here is the before of the pool table area....

And the after!

Now remember this wall.....

Well looky looky.....

I had this built and it turned out so good and was the perfect showstopper for this space!

They are thrilled!  And....so am I :)

Now...I am really sorry for not blogging on a regular basis.  I feel like normally when I used to blog I did not have a trillion things to do as a single person.  Just the basics of everyday life sometimes overwhelm me....and I do not like to complain because I  know many people have it worse than me.

So it's just that and I do miss it.  Hard to believe we are in the holiday season already.

Today is Sunday and I was going to re-arrange my guest bedroom but realized it would just be impossible to do by myself!  Then I realized that Cami needs the bed to stay where it is because that is where she sits when I am gone waiting for me to come home.  So that is why I decided to blog....you can thank Cami:)

THE GREEN BASEMENT REVEAL

Happy Saturday guys!  We are having all kinds of crazy weather here in Atlanta....not like out in California but none the less I go from turning the AC on to turning on the heat:)

I have some reveal pictures today of the green basement that I installed on Tuesday!  I am loving how it turned out....so warm and cozy.  This is a lower level family room but it is right off the playroom so it's nice to have a spot for the grownups to hang while the kids are creating mayhem in the other room.....

On the last post I kind of gave you the basics.  It was painted and most of the furniture had been delivered.  On Tuesday Rose and I did all the styling and there was a big need for that kind of stuff with a long cabinet under the TV and a cabinet that we also ordered.

Let's get to it!

Incase you forgot the walls are SW Pewter Green and the cabinet is BM Duxbury Gray

There were so many books to buy and I am happy to say that most came from second hand stores....I think I used over 40 so that would have been pretty expensive if they were all new....

I wanted this cabinet to feel really edited and not cluttered.....

Below are pictures of the small bar area.  This was just empty unused space.  We added a beverage fridge and pull out trash can.  Great place for snacks and stuff on movie night!

Just in case you forgot....here is what we started with!

The after.....

Here are a few shots of the space and how we orientated all of the furniture....

I love the Lee Industries Sofa and velvet swivel chairs.....

The 2 small end tables are form our fav place Target!

So hard to get good shots down here....well because I am not a professional and I was pretty tired at the end of the day!

Behind the sofa as a very long wall and I am lucky that she already had this beautiful piece....

We really could not paint this wall below because it is at the bottom of the staircase and goes up to the 3rd floor....but I did not want to leave it bare.

I got a great piece of art from my friend Andrea Costa and a vintage rug to tie it all together and warm it up.  Perfect way to bring some green over there....

I am so happy with how it turned out and so is she.  Such a good client...I can't tell you how many times she said "I trust you".....
I love that:)

And here we are....finished with this one except we are waiting for the light fixture to go over the table.
First install in 2023.

I went to Scott's on Thursday...saw some great stuff as usual.  Hope you guys have a good weekend....

BEFORE AND AFTER BASEMENT

So I was just looking back at my post and realized that I do have some good stuff to share!  It's hard for me to remember what I have posted and I haven't :)

Somebody recommended me to this client and what a gem she has been....So sweet and so trusting!  I have had the best time working on a few rooms in her home.

I did her office, powder bath and guest room which I will share soon but we have been working on the basement for a while.

There was some construction to be done so we did that first and then added some paint and wallpaper.

This was the first area we tackled...just some unused space that needed a purpose!  I purposed a cabinet with a fridge and pullout trash can.  A countertop and a shelf.....

It turned out great and will be very useful when they are entertaining and of course with young 3 kids it will be a good place to house snacks!  I had the walls painted SW Pewter Green and the cabinet painted a lighter color BM Duxbury Gray

Here is what the space looked like before paint and wallpaper....Again with walls SW Pewter Green and the cabinet BM Duxbury Gray.  There was a-lot of thought that went into these paint colors....I went back and forth between the lighter on the walls and darker on the cabinets but in the end I was afraid that the lighter color was just too light for the walls!

I am glad I listened to my gut!

Above is the color and a slice of the wallpaper!

Also if you scroll back up you will see that there are 3 cabinet doors so we filled in the holes and added edge pulls.  That way it doesn't look funny with 2 knobs on one side and one on the other!

This room is so warm and cozy now!

With this space we added a table and chairs...
from Crate and Barrel.

Below there was this dead space so after some thought I found this cabinet to add height.

Can't wait to accessorize this and the whole room!

All of the furniture has arrived except for the coffee table and rug so we are close to putting the finishing touches in place!

I have been shopping and collecting things for a month now and my LR looks like a flea market:)

Of course my favorite part is bringing the room together and making it cozy....I can't wait!
