UPDATING A BORING POWDER ROOM

Hey y'all....happy fall!  Today I might actually be able to wear a sweater here in Atlanta.....

Let's just dive right in......I am going to share my thoughts on updating this plain ordinary powder room and what I am going to do with it to make it "sing"......:)

Here she be....typical builders blah powder room!  It has high ceilings and that is about it!

Here comes the paint!

I went with BM Wrought Iron....I was going to go with SW Tricorn Black but it just seemed to severe to me so I changed it at the last minute....

The faucet was an inexpensive Delta so I am swapping it out with the same brand but in a satin gold color and I also ordered a new light fixture.

I struggled over what finish to order the light fixture in but decided to go with the dark bronze....I know a lot of the art has gold frames so I had to put the breaks on the gold....haha!

I went to my favorite flea market....Antiques and Beyond here in Atlanta and after finding 4 different mirrors I stumbled on this one and knew immediately I found the perfect one!

So next up is the art.  I wanted to do all kinds of art so I started hunting for vintage frames at many flea markets....as you know the frames are the most expensive part and it would have cost a mint to have them all custom framed!

I scored all of these in one day from a few different places!

I bought some art at Scott's Antique Market!

I also bought quite a few pieces from this amazing artist at Scotts.  You can find her on Instagram @vsidesart

This is some of the art from my first haul.....

I am at the frame shop here trying to decide which art goes in which frame and picking out the matting....

Sometimes if I like a frame but it has ugly art in it I will still buy!

I picked these up at the framers yesterday!  SO EXCITED!!

I used the Fast Frame here in Atlanta on Piedmont Road.

Still need to find a small vintage rug for this space...hope to secure this today!  The art install is Friday so stay tuned on Instagram for some pictures in Stories.....

I have to say that this client is amazing....every time I text her something her reply is "whatever you think"!  I mean dream client right!

OK....Cami has nudged me about 5 times wanting her walk.....so I must run!

Hope you all are having a wonderful week.....mine has been a bit difficult but I am trying to stay focused on the good things and I always know there are so many people who are struggling more than I am.

Always.

BEFORE AND AFTER

Lord....I have all these clients that like to meet first thing in the morning....which on the days I blog is a bit of an issue.  So I am going to try and whip through this because "you know who" will be pretty mad if she does not get her walk this morning:)

Last week I had the 2 installs on the renovation that I worked on for about a year.  We did the kitchen first and then on Thursday I tackled the family room.

This client has 3 boys and a dog so needless to say everything had to be performance!  And.....I did not accessorize like I normally would because of that fact.....

Let's get right to it....

Here are some before shots.....

This area had 2 large walls which left me scratching my head a little.....

But I decided on 2 credenzas for storage.

Above are pictures lights and there will be art....

The rug is also performance.....

Here is the room after all the furniture was installed....2 sofas, large coffee table, 2 ottomans and a chair and ottoman in the corner.

With a few accessories.....

This corner....although you can't see the TV is for when they are entertaining.  They also have a media room downstairs for movie watching.....

Remember I did the porch a few weeks ago and the doors separating the rooms stack back to allow for it to almost be one large space!

One of may favorite coffee tables....from Woodbridge.

Can't wait to get the art and lighting installed over the storage chest!

Sofa table from Bernhardt Furniture

This room is very neutral.....with pops of green....my kind of space:)

All of this took much planning for how they live and will use the space.  Instead of builtins I picked the 2 credenzas for storage.  The good thing about that would have been too many bookshelves that have to be filled with accessories.  Sometimes you can get a cleaner look without them!

My my....look at the time.  I have 30 min to get ready and 15 min to walk the queen....haha.

ANOTHER TRIP TO MADISON

Look at me being a good blogger.....I am writing this on Monday because I will be gone all day to Madison on Tuesday for a little install.

Last time I went down we installed a sectional and some barstools.

They had the rug so I worked around it!  There was also a leather sofa and chair so I split it up.  Standing in the entrance of this room if you turn around there is another room with a large fireplace.  I put the sofa in there.

So I needed a coffee table, and console table and pillows which I did a post on recently!

Only problem is I don't think the pillows will make it.  Dang....cause I spent a lot of time curating those suckers.

**They arrived last night at 7 pm!

This is a before picture...all that yellow pine was painted BM Revere Pewter. This is the room with the fireplace and you can see the other room behind it.

Before the renovation.....

So you can see the rug....which I moved into the other room.....

This is the wall where we need a console table.

The chest will be moved somewhere else and the console is longer

Y'all know that I always do a little flea market shopping for my projects.....it is important to have that collected look in every room.....in my humble opinion:)

I scored these 2 pieces....a small piece of art and this black thing.....haha.

I think this is an old wicker suitcase of something but I love the patina on it!

Since she is an art historian I scored some old art books.....

And I was on the hunt for an old copper or brass lamp....and there she was as I came around the corner.  Changing out the lampshade to a lighter one.

Also hanging curtains in the dining room.....

I'm pretty pumped to see the new changes!

I have a crazy week y'all.....Tuesday in Madison....Thursday I am driving to Greenville for the day to help a friend with lighting for her new house!  Friday I have another small install.....whew.

Cami is not going to be happy about all this.
