MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR

Well Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.....
I am not gonna lie....it was a tough holiday season and I have never spent more time home just being downright sad.

That's no surprise....It's been almost 6 months since my sister passed away and since I live so close to her.....I was really feeling the void.

I only went to 2 events over the holidays....one was the Atlanta Botanical Garden Holiday Nights [such a fun thing to do if you have not gone] and the other was a Christmas party.....

I watched a lot of TV and stayed home with Cami.  I worked out and hung out at my neighbors.  They like to do those 5 million piece puzzles and I learned that I suck at those:)  The only thing I brought to the situation was a lot of complaining about how hard it was.....nobody likes a complainer....haha.

I was working on one project.....finishing out a basement of a job with Ladisic Fine Homes.  You know how it is when you have completed a year long renovation....you just need to take some time off and breathe so it had been a little over a year and they decided to ramp up again....

This is how we left it after they moved in.....

We got the oak wood paneling done and the wallpaper in before Christmas!

The barstools are from Gabby Home.....very comfy!

The light fixture was from Regina Andrews.

There is a dart board in the cabinet.

I swear the Thibaut wallpaper was a game changer....I mean the paint was good [which we did before Thanksgiving because I couldn't get that paper hung until after....] but this vinyl paper is just so good!

I found these 2 vintage Bernhardt leather chairs for the room.....

You know I love to put something vintage in a space and since they have 3 boys....it's perfect that I did not spend 3 times what I paid for these.....for brand new ones that of course I would probably not get for a year!

I ordered a poker table and then started looking for chairs....whoa mama.

Chairs would be up to 9 months out so I found some vintage ones on Charish and scored some beautiful mohair at Scott's to have them recovered with!

The plaid is for pillows in the chairs and to cover 2 benches with! Pretty pumped about my luck!

I'm a crafty gal:)

Anyway.....I hope y'all are all relaxed from a great Holiday season.....I appreciate all of your support over the last 2 years with what has gone on in my life....

ANOTHER PROJECT UPDATE

So I had this thing done to my face.

Dermaplaning.  I was a little apprehensive so I let my sister go first:)  She called me on the way home and said "you have got to do it" and I couldn't make an appointment fast enough....haha

It's where they take a little scalpel and scrape your face....taking off all the dead skin cells and little hairs.  Lordy my face is so smooth and shiny....I would definitely do it again.

I spent last week getting a client ready for a party which meant ordering a few things to finish up the LR and getting some art hung.  I also went over and did her flowers for the event!

Let's start with these chairs that I had refinished and recovered in this pretty Schumacher fabric.

I am a big believer in using what you have....these belonged to the homeowners grandmother.

So much better!  And then we threw a cute little pillow on it and she all but high fived me for making her look so pretty:)

#upcycle y'all.

This chair finally arrived!  The Copper chair from Charles Stewart covered in Schumacher's Chiang Mai Dragon.  I actually had this gorgeous fabric sent out to Nanotex to be treated!

More Schumacher fabric on this pillow....

When I saw this Gabby mirror at the mart I knew it would be the perfect thing for over the mantel.

And I found this bench at my fav consignment store here in Atlanta called Swoox and I had it recovered.  I love the lines of it!

Still working on collecting some art for this hallway gallery wall.

Hung this gorgeous commissioned piece from Andrea Costa.

Had some pillows made for the host and hostess chairs in the dining area off the kitchen.

And another new pillow....

A little accessorizing on the end table.

While I was at Gabby getting the other mirror I spotted this one which was PERFECT on this dark wall!

And last....this Carrie Penley got hung in the dining room....

Just little snippets as I need to get this house finished and photographed!

OK....wedding festivities started last night!  So excited for my niece:)

Sometimes it is hard for me to believe I have gone from Stewardess [20 years] ....to fitness instructor....to designer in my lifetime....and I am not ready to give up yet....haha.

HOW I BROKE THROUGH THE NEUTRAL BARRIER.....USING COLOR!

I can't tell you what an incredible weekend it was....I just kept looking around thinking how did I get here?  Friday night was the opening party for the House Beautiful concept house here in Atlanta!

You guys know it all started back in February with my trip to Hearst in NYC with Ladisic and team.  Somehow I found myself designing a home for House Beautiful.....yeah....totally insane.

Anyway.....so much happened since that moment.  I went to Highpoint in the spring and was invited to a special intimate dinner that Sophie Donelson [editor of HB] has hosted for a few years.....again looking around the table and thinking....who am I?

I started putting together plans and they kept asking for more color....it got to the point where I didn't know there was THAT much color.....I guess I had been sleeping in a cave.

So....without running my mouth until your eyes bleed I'll just show some more images!

How we arrived at the master bedroom plan.....

The beginning....when I was naive:)

This is what I started with and I am sure when they received these fabrics....they all had a good laugh at my "use of color" right....haha.

Below you can see I was starting to get the message....

Then there was this one but a few things were unavailable.

Then we were here....yes I just wanted you to see how this process went:)

You know House Beautiful is known for their layering of pattern also.....

A far cry from my first plan which I considered colorful!

After the Thibaut wallpaper went up.
It's a huge room full of light and I have to tell you the wallpaper really warmed up the space.  I had my doubts.....

You can see there is a small foyer/entry which had to be addressed also.

One of my favorite Circa Lighting fixtures [they were the lighting sponsor] for the bedroom entry.

The bench was from Ballard Designs.

I definitely felt like we were headed to the home stretch when all the lighting started going up....

I started with the Lee Industries sofa here..

Of course we ended up with the Gabby chest from Perigold in this space eventually.

Stacy Milburn custom mirror, art from Atlanta Artist Collective, vase from Century Furniture at ADAC.

And....one more time so you don't have to scroll back a post.

Where everything ended up!
A few shots of the master bathroom designed by Matthew Quinn!

My friend Blayne Macualey art in the background!

So pretty!

Here is a shot of the master closet by California Closets....

Well I've done 2 post on the master bedroom so we can move forward now!

Today I have 2 events and then one more on Thursday evening.  After that....back to.... you know....everyday mundane life.
