2023 INTERIOR DESIGN TREND FORCAST

Hola my friends....

A few of you reached out with help to get my post delivered....thank you!

I will get on it and hopefully there is a good solution.  Blogger is kind of "old school" and most people have moved on to a better platform but as usual...here I am stuck in the "past" :)

Today I am joining some of my respected blogger friends to discuss Design Trends of 2023.

Now we know that if it is trending too hard then we actually need to stay away from it :)
The thing I like to stress to people is that the reason you hire a designer.....is to get a curated look that not everyone has....that is just my opinion....ha ha.

Anyway lets get to the reason for this post!

I am not sure I would describe these as "trends"
per se....because things/looks actually make it full circle in design.

The first trend I have noticed and I mean EVERYWHERE are fabric covered lampshades!

They were allover in the 3 showhouses I went to during the holidays.

Whitney Parkinson
Jared Hughes

I found these below on Etsy....and I saw so many different sellers!

The next thing are wall murals....
There are so many out there now including peel and stick!

Morris and Co wallpaper has been front and center.

I have seen so many designers use their papers and I have fallen in love with quite a few!

I about died when I saw this graphic on their website.....

I know...I am known for my love of black and white and I do still love it but to make it warm you really need to mix your textures!

The last thing I am seeing is brown....as in "brown is the new black" haha

And when I say brown.....that covers a lot of territory!

You can see the variations in the colors above.  Of course my favorite is not included in the above and that would be SW URBANE BRONZE.

Take a gander at it in the walls of my sisters office.

And her bookshelves.....you can see it looks different depending on the light!

So to recap:
Fabric Lampshades
Wall Murals
Morris and Co wallpaper
The Color Brown

Now you need to grab your coffee and shuffle over to my talented friends and see what they have to say.  What is good is that we live in different parts of the country so I know we will see a range of perspectives!

I still read your blog whenever you say you have a new post! I love your style because it is different depending on your client! I love that you mix old with new! People keep saying it is the “new trend” and I laugh because I e been doing that for 38 years!! To me that is classic and gives my home a unique look. These days it seems like everyone wants their homes to look like everyone else. You can tell by the popularity of the Target drop announcements all over IG! You will always be one of my favorite designers and I love your fashion as well! If I lived near you I would beg you to let me work for you!

Morris and Co. wallpaper is so classic. And rich.

Cruel Mountain on Etsy did a great job on my bedroom lampshades. But I'd love a pleated one in my guest room...thank you so much for the sources.

I love that you say if it's trending too hard...stay away from it :)

Thanks for doing this with us. Such a great post, Sherry!

Sherry

I am loving the fabric lampshades as well. I am adding a couple to my otherwise quiet bedrooms. I always think of you Sherry when I think of color and pattern, ha ha. I always remember that beautiful dining room that you did for one of the showhouses. I still prefer texture over pattern, but don't mind some color in my pillows and accessories. I have not been getting your posts either. If you ever want to switch to Wordpress, I would be happy to walk you through it! Thanks so much for doing this we always appreciate your wisdom and humor!!

These are great and so on point, Sherry. Love the rich browns returning and Urbane Bronze is one I love too. I still love blogging and it is my main stomping ground too. So glad there are a few of us still out there creating all this rich content! Fun to connect with you today.

Ahhhhh….if it’s trending too hard, stay away! So smart!! Brown is the new black and as someone who loves back, I’m here for it! Every shade of brown is okay with me! And thankfully, black and brown work well together!

Check, check, check and check! 100% on board with all of these. Thank goodness my own personal style comes back around every decade or so to make me feel “trendy”!

I had painted my living room French Roast in 2007 I loved it. When I listed my house my realtor said that color has got to go. I ended up painting it surprise surprise because no one liked it in 2016. Im planning on painting my new dining room brown. Love your posts and snippets on FB stories!
