BEFORE AND AFTER

I love Fridays.....there I said it.  One reason is that I have been taking Saturdays off from work....you know like a "mental health day".  I used to just work 7 days a week....meaning that I was always doing some work on the weekends but that was no fun!

I got my second vaccine on Tuesday and I was waiting for all the bad things to happen but it was just like the first shot......nothing.  So there you have it.

I posted about that on Instagram and somebody got all over me saying "I was acting like a hero" because I took the vaccine.  HUH?  Look....get one if you want or don't.....it is none of my business.....don't come at me.

The only reason I think I am a hero is that I managed to find the darn "correct" parking deck at the Mercedes Benz Stadium since the only directions on the sheet of paper said "park at the stadium".  Um....there are like 25 parking decks.

#oldpeople need a little more help than that.

So I was about to dog y'all today cause I really didn't have anything to share with you.  I mean the fashion post about did me in with keeping all the links straight and stuff....:)

But I thought I would share just a few pictures to prove the power of paint in design!

OK....no judgement here....cause you know the after will be stunning.....

Here is the deal.....the opening to the room was about 4 feet so the first thing is to enlarge it.  Next up is take the corbels off the fireplace mantel. The surround is a brown marble and I suggested to keep it.....you'll see....

This entrance got closed in as they really didn't need it!

Now the opening has been widened to 6 feet.  We are going to keep the chandelier but paint out the room a light color.....painting out all the brown trim but keeping the stained wood sashes as they are throughout the house....

The Brazilian Cherry floors are getting refinished.  I know what you are thinking....how to get the red out of those suckers.  Well the floor guy gave us a sample and I was amazed.  He puts a bleach on them first and then he was able to get a pretty brown.  We are both excited about that!

OK.....are you ready to see the room painted????

I mean.....whoa mama.....

Total game changer!  Benjamin Moore White Sand.  I sent her some sconce selections.....so I will keep you posted on this little gem of a makeover.

Like I said.....the power of paint.....

Last night I went over to my neighbors and she order food from the Slutty Vegan.....

Ha Ha I think she was afraid we wouldn't have enough fries!  I plowed through those suckers and then we destroyed the rest.  She asked me if I wanted to take them home and I said #hellno.....I would not rest until they were all gone.

You have every right to "act like a hero"! You're contributing to herd immunity so we can all get on with our lives. People can be so annoying. Love the new look in that room!

The room is lovely and I’ve never been a fan of that dark heavy look although I know it’s for some. Can’t wait to see the big reveal.
Like it was mentioned before thank you for adding to our herd immunity with your vaccination. I am totally vaccinated now also, and that much closer to hugging my children and grandchildren!

Huge Improvement. Good job getting the client to paint out the wood. That can be the hardest part on some jobs. Looking forward to the finished room.

Great photos! Thanks for not dogn’ us... your post are part of what makes my Tuesday’s and Friday’s better. I look forward to morsels of inspiration because we’re updating and decorating our house (such a nightmare) Back in October we ordered a Hancock and Moore sofa and 2 recliners. They were supposed to be delivered by end of this month. Received an email yesterday stating that the order is being delayed until the end of April do you some component not arriving. It doesn't help to get aggravated but I sure am disappointed. I’ve put off getting rugs, drapes and other accessories (we have an open floor plan) until the sofas arrive... I think I’m just kicking the bucket down the road because I’m afraid of making a mistake. How I wish you lived closer or did virtual consultations. Hope you enjoy your weekend! Glad you didn’t have adverse reaction to vaccine. Hugs to your fur baby!

Sherry,
Happy Saturday!!!! Hope you are having a great day!!
Congratulations on getting all shot up!!! Why wouldn’t anyone want to be part of the solution, right?!!!
This room has such great bones! Your magic will make it fabulous!!! Can’t wait to see the transformation!!
Remember the China cabinet you had painted white-ish for a client not too long ago. The interior was painted a gorgeous blue. Were you able to stage it?
Enjoy your day off!!

I have that same coffee table. Got it from the Bombay Company if anyone else remembers that store. It is still going strong, surviving 3 kids and goes with anything. Never thought I'd see it pop up in a blog. I'm sure it won't survive the redo but it was fun seeing it. Thanks for sharing this room update. Wow, the room is stunning now. I'm a creature of light. Glad you were able to get your vaccine.

Congrats on a successful 2nd dose! Thanks for doing your part, you are a hero and not just for finding the right deck in the parking garage! LOL. The room looks amazing. I can't wait to see it all finished. Thanks for sharing!

You say the power of paint, I say the power of an amazing designer! You did it again!! I'm glad you got the vaccine, I'm eligible, but waiting for an opening to get it. Do you mind saying if you got Moderna or pfizer?

Wow, that paint really opened up the room and made it shine.
What is with people finding fault in a blog post?! I was so relieved when I got my second vaccine...maybe I didn't feel like a hero but a lucky person to have that behind me.
I enjoy your posts and the talent you share with your readers.

Massive difference just in the paint color. Huge improvement.

I got my first shot yesterday and my arm is very sore. It's all good because it's a step towards a more normal life.

Thanks for showing this great room re-do. I'm working on a half bath and haven't decided on the color yet. When you show your work and tell the colors you use, it helps me to visualize what my little makeovers can look like. Ditto on those who say they wish you did virtual work too. I sure could use some advice.

As for the "hero" comment- you do you and they can do them. I hate that everyone, today, feels like they must tear someone else down for doing what they think is right. The jury is out on my getting the vaccine, but readying comments from those who have gotten it helps me to feel more inclined. I want to travel to see my grandkids, so maybe I need to think more like a hero!

You are an amazing designer. Follower for years but rarely comment!
I love all your before and afters. So much inspiration, thank you!

Saying this transformation was night and day is not a big enough comparison!
It looks current in keeping with the style of the home.
PURE GENIUS!
