MY HOUSE

I almost hate to post since there is so much going on our country.....I'm not blind but I feel like you might come here for some normalcy.

I don't really want to start "that" conversation as I know how passionate everyone is about their beliefs.....and I am OK with that.

We are all friends and have been for 11 years so let's just agree that this is a safe place and we will keep it light hearted and discuss my new coffee table instead....haha

A few months ago I went to the sample sale at the mart and stumbled across a Worlds Away waterfall coffee table and it stopped me in my tracks.  Rose and I both just stood there....thinking "do we have a client who could use this".  It was such a deal we just could not walk away so I bought it and we both said we will find someone.

So funny because when I walked over to put the sold sign on it there were a couple of designers standing around deciding to buy it and I said...."stand back people.....it's mine".

Well per usual for me it just hung out in a corner of my LR waiting for some love.  Over the holidays I scooted my pigeon basket coffee table out of the way and played with some styling.

Big Mistake.

I kind of love it.  Crap.  Now the pigeon basket coffee table is in the corner.  Crikey

Of course I was on a roll and brought in my amber jar.....

And then I remembered I had this mudcloth which I was going to have pillows made out of so I tucked it on the seat of the sofa!

The rattan chairs were found on Craigslist many years ago and I had them painted!

I

I found the vintage Chapman sconces at Scott's probably 15 years ago....and the end tables at Tuesday Morning so long ago.  They were wood and I painted them as I love the lines.

I've had the sisal rug for a while and you can find one similar on Overstock as I have seen them before!

The small table is actually Currey and Co and was ordered for a client.  When it came I opened it to check for damage and just placed it in my room to see how it looked:)  She is probably reading this and thinking "well now it is used so I want a discount"....hahahaha

The black marble tray is from Target.....many years ago.

And my beloved Swan......Dawne Raulet Art.

I have already moved things around in the DR but here is that basket I bought for a client....and after I posted this on Instagram she reminded me it was hers.....haha.

So here is the before of the LR

I can't decide.......whaaaaaaaa
I know it is a completely different look.  I will be so curious as which one you prefer......

I will tell you that this shot was taken by a professional so it does look pretty good.

What to do.....what to do?

I hope you guys have a great weekend.  It's so cold here in Atlanta right now.  It's a Scotts weekend and next week is The Mart!  Plus I am so overloaded with work....which is a good thing I know but I am a little overwhelmed.

No contest. That new coffee table is it!!!

I love the new version! Not that the old version was bad, I just like the color added to the room and how it warmed up!

I think you have a new Fall-Winter look with the amber; a decidedly lighter, airy look for Spring-Summer with the basket coffee table and floral prints.

I never comment, but felt this was important enough - Ha! Keep the new! It gives your room life and there is no comparison. The old is pretty, but flat when compared to the new.
I am so happy I stumbled upon your blog 2 years ago while googling "lee sofa". You are so talented and I look forward to every single Tuesday/Friday.

New table allllllllll the way!

The new looks so warm. Someone else commented this could be a seasonal change-up (but who has time to do that? Not sure.). Anyhoo ... The touches of amber are a winner in my book!

New year-new look! Love the new table!

I love both the looks, for different reasons. The older look someone called flat, I call it calming and very put together. The newer
look has a warmer look, earthy, more going on with the browns dominating. It really speaks to the mood of the room and where each of us are in our lives.... Sometimes we are drawn to the calmness, of a room, or we need a fresh look. Your decorating skills are wonderful and your eye in putting together rooms is impeccable. I too am a decorator, and mix up things in my home -it makes me happy, I am invigorated moving around decor- it soothes my soul and my artistic side. Both rooms are great-so enjoy what strikes your fancy.I have been know to move furniture and decor and sometimes going back to what I had originally decorated because I so loved the room and it worked !!! Sometimes we need a fresh look-a fresh perspective to ghelp us on a new path.
I enjoy your blog -Happy New Year

Sherry,

I really love the waterfall table. It seems a little shorter and blends well with the rest of the home.

However, I do love the basket/glass topped table.

Go with what YOU love!

I love the new look as well as the old. My question is where did you get the dining room table basket, I am in love with it!

Thanks for the beautiful inspiration!
When I read your blog I learn something about design AND feel like I've hung out with a fun friend.
Wishing you a great weekend!

I really like the new table! Do I go through a designer if I want to buy one? I’m sitting here with no table. I gave it to my son and daughter-in-law a few months ago and still haven’t found a new one (until now?) Thanks so much for keeping things light and fun. I need it.

Both looks are beautiful but for some reason I’m drawn to your old coffee table..it’s so unique but go with what you are loving right now! It is a new year and maybe time for change. Always love your posts...have a great weekend and love on Cami..

I love the old look-very charming! Love the texture and seems very inviting-and thank you for not getting political and just showing pretty!

Your home is beautiful Sherry. Hard to pick but I I love the new coffee table. The lines are so good in your space and the finish adds so much depth and warmth.

As always both looks are gorge! The older look lived thru the cold days with you and the new coffee table inspires all these lovely, warm colors and textures ushering in the new peaceful life you deserve!! Store the basket table! All love.xx

It's nice to see designers get confused too! I love the new look! New year - new look - new life! You deserve it!

Definitely agree with the poster above who suggested the basket in spring summer and the new coffee table in fall and winter. But if I had to pick just one, it would be the new one. How does the mud cloth and other amber accessories look with the basket? Thanks for a pleasant break from other events!

"Your" new coffee table looks great. Perfect amount of richness it adds to the room without being overdone.

Oh Man, I love your new waterfall coffee table! It’s definitely a keeper and your whole restyling is just awesome!

janet said...

Hard to tell color in photos, but couldn’t you use all the amber accessories with the pigeon basket table? I love the texture, color and uniqueness of the wicker table. The waterfall table is beautiful but in my humble opinion has less adaptability to new looks. And really don’t we all need furniture that can adapt to change as we do?

I love both! Either way I love the amber/ warm tones in there. Keep those for sure, at least til Spring. 😉

Love the new look! Will you be selling your pigeon basket table? I want it! I used to have a very rustic version of your pigeon basket but mine was made out of a chicken crate. Boy was it nasty when I first found it! I cleaned it up, added casters and loved it for many years out on my deck. Sadly the weather took its toll on it. Thank you for all your posts......love them all!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new. Room breathes now more than before though I do love the old table!

How beautiful they both are, but the new gets my vote! I love it all. The patterns and textures, along with the warm caramels are so inviting. Any season!

I like both coffee tables but I love the warmth and depth that the amber color brings to the room. It’s much cozier and more interesting. Love your blog!!

Sherry -thank you so much for always keeping it light for us! Especially when things around us are crumbling. You seem to have a gift for that! I love your blog and it’s always what I read first in my inbox. I agree with what some other said I think you have a fall winter look and then you’re a pigeon basket look is your spring summer look. I really love both but I think the warm with the new waterfall table is great for the season and I love the crisp cool feel of the other look for summer! I know as a fellow decorator moving things around at your own home is so rewarding. I always tend to do it in January so thanks for your inspiration ! I’ve got to get to work over at my house now!

I love the new coffee table! The color of the table and the accessories really warm up the room.

Love them both!! But with the new waterfall table, I think I would like to see the rattan chairs painted black, a little more sophisticated. Just a thought.

The Grey Dove Cottage said...

Personally I love the waterfall coffee table because it grounds the space and adds some depth to the neutral color scheme. It is certainly chic, especially the way you dressed it. I also love the throw wrapped upon the sofa seat, its add texture and pattern. The basket is pretty, it does feel a little more summer or beach house to me, or maybe "Urban Country" and you don't seem very country. I think the new room is beautiful, stylish and Chic - just like you.

AnneHH said...

Gorgeous options!! Aren't you lucky!! I love both as do so many above. But, you asked for a choice so I choose the new version with the waterfall table. The warmth feels so soothing during this cold season. Thanks for some normalcy in this topsy turvy world! xo

Pam Bolton said...

Absolutely, the new look! Hands down it is bringing in the warmer colors that are starting to trend now. Your "laboratory" is just right for testing new looks.

Sherry when I saw that coffee table on your instagram I SAID YES!!! I am all for a mix but I always like a modern coffee table. Love all the little tweaks. You are just so good!

Love the waterfall table, maybe you can use the rolling table under an outdoor covered patio?

I don't normally comment but I love everything you do. The new coffee table is just the best I've seen. Totally in love with it.

Even if you go back to the pigeon basket table, I love the colors of the new look! The mud cloth is gorgeous, and your textiles are always spot on.

Both looks are lovely but that new coffee table?..omg, YES! I love the new look hands down.
Thank you for a welcome distraction in an otherwise horrific few days (weeks/years?).

Love. Love the new coffee table. The warmth and contrasting color/material makes the area sing.
The entire New Seasonal Look” is so stylish and again highlights your remarkable talent. So keep the new coffee table.

Love, love, love the new version, especially the amber accents! Great mix of cool and warm: still neutral, but SO interesting. Don’t you love how one change (THAT coffee table!) can unleash a creative waterfall?!

CynthiaB said...

You must must must must keep the Worlds Away coffee table. It looks sensational and the mudcloth is brilliant. I love carmel colors - they go with so well with many other colors. I have to say I don't love the former table in that spot - I think the casters are a bit too clunky for that more sophisticated room. Keep it like it is - it's beautiful!

Chuck Schomaker said...

Please, please, you must keep the new coffee table. A much more finished look even when a room is never done.

The new coffee table. The whole room looks so warm and cozy. Especially nice for the winter months -- it says, come, gather with a hot toddy and let's get down to a fun chat.
