Aren't I lucky to have all these blogger friends who occasionally trust me to put out a specific post!
Cause y'all know lately around here it's been slim pickings other than pictures of half built homes.....:)
I think I have pulled it off..... although not my best work you might get a tip or 2.
These girls don't play.....they are serious about their brand and I'm over here like "brand".....what's that? I hate my brain sometimes.....even at 68 I am trying to train it to be more efficient...I will let you know how that is coming along:)
Here are my weak tips and then when you want the real meat of console styling I will give you the links to Mary Ann, Cindy, Annie, Melanine and Ana.
This is the best picture I have of my entry console as it was taken by a photographer for a local magazine Atlanta Home years ago. I had only hung this gallery wall a couple of weeks before this was taken!
By the way it took me years to collect all this art....
You can see it hides that old vent nicely!
But....It is just too leggy and I have had it covered for ages.....
Here is proof....
Leg city!
Plus.....without the cover there is still that issue of the old grate showing and that bugs me!
So let's put it back on.....but change it up without putting the piece of old linen on it....
Taking out all the white books and just going for black accessories.....
So let's change up a few things......I mean I don't hate this but it's looking a little lazy to me. You know all black.....
Adding a little height with my gold statues.....
that I had to give up that dream of presenting you with the "muther" of all consoles!
I am going to just let those magnolia leaves dry out....
And below....here is my same console table with a flax covered top....totally different look!
Below is a console table in my bedroom....
And another One Room Challenge console I did for my other sister. This one is pretty simple with just lighting and a large basket.
I should stop now before it is 2021....although I think we would all welcome fast forward to better times!
OK....do not forget to go see what my more professional friends did....I have full confidence they will knock it out of the park!
You can let me know your thoughts.....I can take it!
Today is a new day and I have the ability to make it a better day than yesterday so I am going to move forward with much determination.

You have a brand! You love black and textured neutrals. You are supremely talented, funny, and occasionally self-deprecating. I love reading your posts because of all those reasons :).
I love how you walked through your thought process for styling. And it never occurred to me to cover a console or place one in a bedroom (or other than the usual places) - that is the kind of genius I am here for! That, and your fabulous, genuine way of writing.
Sherry! You have the most amazing style and eye! I can't even pick a favorite because they are all stunning! But what the heck are sewer balls? I love how the fabric or table cloth draped over the console gives it a completely different look. The mix of art collected finds, and a branch from a magnolia tree...perfection!
So wonderful that you shared the creative process involved in getting to that sweet spot feeling of “that feels right.” Look your taste.
I AM GOING TO KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT ON THIS ONE!
HA!

Thank you for sharing your process! I was missing your Tuesday post and was looking back at your older posts as consolation. Discovered that you wore the same dress to your niece's wedding that I wore to my daughter's five years ago. I felt chic by default!❤ Really brightened my day!
Your use of neutrals and texture remains so FRESH. And I've always loved your sconces!
In one of your shots you show that green hard to kill plant (you can tell I don't know the name of it) anyway, I bought one after you recommended it and that plant must be 7 or 8 years old now. ALIVE still. Sometimes when I water it I think "thank you, Sherry."
My sister and I have been using the term "shitshow" a lot lately, too. :) Only way to describe things.
You nailed it as usual. That console in your bedroom is one of my very favorites. Whenever I see it on Pinterest I think damn Sherry did that! Your gallery wall has always been another fave. I am always learning from you..you are the bomb!
Sherry - your post was my favorite! Thanks for sharing your talent. And your writing...keep it up !
My first and favorite post to read every morning. This is great, as always!
your's is the best. no contest.
Uh, less is always more.
I’ve never heard of sewer balls, is that what they’re called? Hmm. Where do you buy sewer balls?
Your tables are lovely. I think the leggy table has beautiful legs, but I understand wanting to make the vent disappear. I need to find some magnolia branches for deco. There’s an overgrown tree down the street from us that blocks the sidewalk. It would be so lovely trimmed a bit. Sometimes I think about going there around 3 am and trimming it when no one is awake to complain!
give me sewer balls, magnolia leaves, and flax linen any day! in your hands, POW, magic!
the only downside of this post is remembering what my husband did with my collection of flax, monogramed linens from France. While I was out of the country..... he cleaned out my car, always a mess, and put everything in his work studio. later he was starting a big painting project in our home, and if you guessed it, yes, those were all his drop cloths. tragic memories
anyways darling, this is your story and your consoles are gorg & vastly interesting
xx

I love your gallery wall...that swan picture is beautiful and pulls my eye in as a focal point, then my eye travels around to see the rest of the art. I have not seen that done in a lot of gallery walls posted online that seem to be more of a hodge podge or arranged based on the frame shapes & sizes looking good as opposed to drawing the eye in. Kudos!
I have a Ballard Design pressed wood console with accompanying fitted off-white cloth cover I got eons ago. My console is hiding baseboard heater on the wall behind two chairs and I use it to store items under too. I layer it with a 52" square cloth topper diagonally in a pretty pattern to add color and interest. I have a big mirror over it but your beautiful post shows I need to get my game going and style the table properly! Thanks for sharing.
All these comments say it all! Don’t tell the others but yours was my favorite! Loved all your different takes on styling that beautiful console, boy I don’t think I could pick a favorite. But I do know that you, your wonderful blog and your ability to make us laugh are my favorite.
Hi Sherry,
This was fun. Maybe more for me than you though. My personal favorite was the picture of your family dining table with all the blue & white accessories.
I hope you have a great weekend.
Well I think you should do a ginormus branch display in the black vase ala Steve Cordonay for the win.
LOL - your Brand. I liked blogs better when they were personal and unique. Now it seems that everyone is into "branding" (blanding?), blog-cliques (bliques?), and advertising all the same things (blads?). It makes me kind of want to blarf sometimes. I appreciate the efforts you make to stay Sherrtastically different. Even as you've morphed throughout the years, your voice never gets lost in the noise.
