FASHION

Well....as promised I am sharing my outfits for all of the wedding festivities!  For once I feel pretty organized with just a few things missing on the actual wedding outfit.

As I mentioned one sister is having the cocktail party on Thursday night and I am having a light brunch on Sunday for anyone that is still hanging around.  Weddings are nothing if you are not managing everyones time right?

First up is the cocktail party.  I found this cute Vince Camuto lace number at Dillards on major sale.  Now I know what you are thinking....it looks short.  It isn't....and so comfortable:)  I pared it with flats for even more comfort....

Next up is the rehearsal party.  This dress [which is no longer available] is from Dillards Antonio Melani line and I gotta tell you whoever designs for them has it going on!  They are well made and not really too expensive.  I got this one on sale for 69.65 which was a steal!

In reality the shoes are a perfect match to the dress.  And on sale for 47.99!  Winning....

Here is where we hit a snag.  I bought this dress and I love it.  It is navy which is the next best thing to wearing black but not as harsh right?  But what color shoes?  Should I go nude like they show or black or matte gold....come on help me out?

Dress

Sunday Brunch is casual...... I bought these "mom jeans" at Abercrombie for 44.00 on sale.  The 12 year old working the register tried to tell me these were exempt to the "all jeans 50% off" sign so I dragged him by the collar over to the table [where there was a sign] and set him straight.

The shirt is from H&M and it's so cute!  I am going to tuck it in and wear just a black ribbon as a belt!

Thought I would also show you another way you could wear the same jeans!

Then I got all crazy and couldn't stop.....because as long as I have been looking for some cute red shoes I finally found a pair at Dillards....have I mentioned that they have the BEST shoe department?

And......one more!  I want to order all of this!

But wait.....here are all the shoes you need for fall!  Animal for every occasion!

Need every pair!

Alrighty then.....off to workout.  Now please be thinking about my shoe dilemma cause tick tock people....12 days to go!

The navy dress is spot on, as are all the outfits! My favorite shoes for the dress, would be nude or matte gold, leaning more to the gold, if it is a soft gold. You will be beautiful!!!

Great outfits, one and all! I agree on nude or matte gold shoes for a more modern take on the shoes for the navy dress.

Sherry, first, let me say that I love you and your blog so much! That is why I am writing to you since we had our second wedding this June where I was Mother of the Groom. Are those first two dresses white or is it just my computer screen? You cannot wear white or cream dresses on a wedding weekend without getting shade. That color is only for the bride. Just FYI. Maybe it is different in Atlanta or your family but I don't think so. Just trying to be a good cyber friend, especially since til now your and my "friendship" has been completely one-sided. You are welcome.

I love it all, Great selection! My favorite is your brunch outfit. As for the wedding shoes, I’m thinking any soft metallic (pewter, gold) or black patent ( nude works but not my favorite). Have fun!

As for the “white dress” comment above- where what you want girl. Isn’t that the beauty of getting older and not fretting about these small things? Of course never white to the actual wedding, but the whole weekend- give me a break.

With the navy dress a matte metallic shoe would be best and versatile for other outfits. A kitten heel would be great. No necklace, earring that are bold and stay up around your face (not a dangle)
Since you have access to the mart, I hope you are purchasing your fun trendy jewels at Golden Stella in Building 3-
Sounds like loads of fun!

Would you be able to find a shoe with at least some touch of navy in it? I saw a pair of heels that were a splash of beautiful colors with a floral pattern on some site not too long ago and of course can't find them now, but they were very special and would be perfect for the wedding. Just saying that it might be worth a look to find something really special

Nude shoes with the navy dress. Sorry, I had the same reaction when I saw the 2 white lacy dresses-very bridal.

Nude!

Love all your choices. I think the white/cream dress is totally appropriate. For the navy dress, I would go with nude.

Oh I hope you wear pink heels with your navy dress.

Leave the white/off white for the bride. Georgia girl here. Just sayin’.
And navy strappy sandals for the navy dress.

Love your style!

First of all I love your blog/IG!, I wore a midnight blue “ almost black” dress to my daughter’s wedding & wore pewter shoes. I think it’s a less less glaring than gold and works well with navy. Good luck. Know you’ll look adorable either way.

You will look adorable no matter what but I vote for the nude!

Nude is always good.

I have to go with the other Southern girls about the white and off-white. And I hate to see anyone wearing torn jeans; it's not a classy look. My vote is for a nude shoe with that fabulous navy dress. You nailed it on that choice. You would look so pretty with your hair up, a simple necklace, and small earrings.

I like a gold or pewter shoe/sandal for the navy dress. Makes it feel kinda festive over nude.
I love your dress choices and would not hesitate to wear them to the festivities.

Sherry,

Love, love, love your blog, first time commenter, lol!

DEFINITELY a nude shoe. No contest.

Another Georgia girl chiming in...just say no to the white/off white dresses.

Georgia girl here and I thought the same thing about wearing white...it’s for the bride. My son got married this month and there was a lady in my age bracket wearing white who I can’t get that out of my mind ...in a bad way. If I scanned the crowd to look for the couple of the day I was interrupted by her white dress. Now that was the wedding day and you have those dresses planned for earlier events so maybe it can work for you but it wouldn’t for me.
Nude, light gold, or animal print (thin straps) shoes

Love your blog, Sherri! I really hate to chime in, but if one of my aunts showed up in white or ivory to my wedding festivities, I’d be upset. As a guest, I didn’t even wear a dress to a wedding with a cream background although the rest of the design was super bright and colorful, I’m just that nutty about white for the bride only!

Nude shoe definitely!

Can I spend more of your money? I say buy both nude and metallic. Where the nude to the ceremony and the metallic to the reception - if you have time in between. If you don't have time, you can decide on the day and return the unused pair. I recommend getting the nude in water resistant material such as Aquatalia just in case it rains on the day.

Ditto on the no white...the bride should be the only one wearing it!

Shannon Kirby said...

I say go for the gold! You must be over your planter fasciitis too with the red heels🤪

Sheri, love your fashion and design taste, but too much white for being the aunt. I believe there are other nude colors you can wear. Leave the white for the bride. The navy dress is perfect. (I am old fashioned and old).

Nude or pewter!

thinking nude is your best bet for the wedding ensemble! Love your affordable finds too! Be sure to post a pic when you’re all dolled up!

I'm sorry, but I agree with other comments, I had the exact same reaction to all the cream/white. Definitely for the bride.

Have to weigh in late. Navy gorgeous with pale strappy shoes. All else is appropriate for pre events. The bride to be will not be wearing white to those early parties!

"According to the Emily Post Institute, it's acceptable to wear white, as long as it doesn't 'distract from the bride or her attendant's dresses.' For example, a colorful, cocktail-length dress with a white lace overlay is acceptable," says Lehman. "A casual sheath dress also works well, but if the dress is white and floor-length or full-skirted, it won't work." Emily Post, y'all.
