A NEW PROJECT

Well it's official......summer is here and everyone is on vacation.

That is everyone but me :(  I have a full summer of work ahead with 3 construction projects.

So much planning goes into this type of job along with plenty of deadlines.....translation=I can't procrastinate like I do sometimes.

Decisions need to be made on time.

The good thing is I am working with one of my favorite architects Rodolfo Castro.  Exciting times for Sheriky!

Tile, plumbing and light fixtures have been picked for this project. Here is a look at some of our selections.

This house has a modern feel to it....think California..... clean tailored lines.  Here is the drawing of how the tile is being used....

The wood floor tile will be applied in a herringbone pattern on the floor with the subway tile in the shower and the 1x1's on the shower floor.

For the guest bath....

I made this before we chose the sconces which were changed to these....

Here is the tile layout...

This is a great ceramic tile that mimics marble but so durable!

This is how it looks down [before grout]

Here is the basement level bath....

The white subway on shower walls with the gray penny tile on the shower floor.

Hard to see but the floors will be  the dark gray
12 x 24. In the shot below you can see it with the Cambria countertop.

I have learned a few things lately......[yep still learning]  when I am picking out the tiles and countertops I  bring my paint deck and make wall and vanity selections then.  Just a small timesaver:)

Here are some of the other lighting selections on the main level.....

Guess what?
It was Memorial weekend when we went to pick up Cami!  Which means we have had her for a year now.....

It's been quite a ride....she is one stubborn dog that's for sure....but I sure love this mookie face!

The good thing is that it's only a 4 day weekend right?

SWOOX CONSIGNMENT STORE

While working on the Kitchen Of The Year [KOTY] showhouse we had to get creative!   Furniture was donated for the main living area off the kitchen and the porch but nothing for the DR and living room.

We all know that seeing an empty house is OK but decorate it and we are like a heard of buffalo getting through the doors right?

So after brainstorming we thought "what about a consignment store"?  Let's start with the best....Swoox Consignment Store!

Y'all this is not your Mama's consignment store.  It is chock full of beautiful things along with some pretty incredible art!

We took a field trip to look at what they had at the moment and got pretty excited!

Here are a few pictures of delivery day!

Trying to figure out how to arrange everything.....we had no sofa..... just chairs.

We selected a lot of art and decided to go with a gallery look....

After we moved everything about 10 times we settled on this arrangement....

I was imagining a room that was pretty to walk through but you could sit and have a martini while reading a design book.....ha ha....cause I do that on a regular basis with my "extra time"!

A girl can dream.....

Can you believe how nicely this all came together?  I love the treatment on the walls where you can change out the art if you wanted.

It did make it hard to do curtains so I had to do roman shades....

The walls are painted Farrow and Ball Charleston Gray and the trim and ceiling are FB Cornforth White.

I took this picture from Rhoda at Southern Hospitality [she wrote a post on it also] because these white chairs, mirror and art also came from Swoox.  I think I have already mentioned that this color is FB Oval Room Blue.

Some pictures from Swoox.....

If you live in Atlanta then you are in luck because all of this great stuff is available to you!

You're welcome:)

Update....I finished my closet.  All the hangers match and I took 5 huge bags to GW.  Life is good.  I found the best deal on those thin hangers was at Bed Bath and Beyond.  50 count  for 29.99 with a 20% off coupon....booyah.

Have a great holiday weekend......It's gonna be hot here in Atlanta and Netflix has just released season 2 of Bloodline!

PROJECT UPDATE

It was the first weekend in a long time that I did not have an agenda.  So I planned.....what you ask?

Well my husband was going down to the beach....because he can.  He's retired.  Me on the other hand...got too much going on.  BUT.....my mission was to do the "great closet clean out of 2016"....or possibly the decade.

I can't do it while he is home because he won't let me throw away anything even if it is 3 sizes too small and has stains all over it.  Him: "I can do chores in that shirt"  Me:  "You don't do chores".

I bought all of those thin hangers they had at HomeGoods and after waving him off at 8:00 am Sunday morning I was like a ninja running into the house to get to work.

I made great progress finishing his side and getting almost half of my side done after 6 hours!  Just one question....how do pants shrink just sitting in the closet:)

I have some updates on a project I have been working on since last August.  This house was a complete gut....I mean there wasn't anything left untouched.

First up is the island....stained oak!  I'm excited about this especially with the tiles floors.....

This Walker Zanger herringbone backsplash.

And Oh Baby....this pewter table top by Francois and Co I love when I suggest something and my client get's excited also.  Whoop.

In the "scullery" kitchen we used soapstone countertops and a dark charcoal subway tile from Renaissance Tile and Bath....hubba hubba!  The countertop will get darker after it is oiled.....

Pretty iron window!

You wanna see more?

Dining room chandelier....my favorite Circa Lighting....the Belvoir.

The antique mirror over the mantel.  This was such a small firebox we had to make it special and used these concrete balls....

The Emtek door hardware....

This is a linen closet upstairs...can't wait to pick out some pretty hardware for these doors....think I'll head over to The Matthew Quinn Collection to find something special!

3 of these Circa Lighting Regent Oval sconces in the LR

The laundry room light from SchoolHouse Electric.  Blue paint color is SW Indigo Batik

GP and Baker wallpaper with the Circa Lighting Monrovia star light in the powder room....

Thibaut grasscloth with a damask pattern in the foyer.

We went for pure whimsy in this small half bath using a Scion wallpaper.

In the 2 guest baths upstairs I used I used these CL Graydon sconces

Kohler Margaux faucets with a gray honed granite

And last.....
Picking out the floor stain color on the hickory floors.  We went for the 2nd one up 1/2 dark walnut mixed with 1/2 jacobean.

There is so much more to post about this project! Every once in a while you get a client who enjoys the process as much as you do.....we both get giddy when we are at her home and  see that something pretty has happened:)

Have a great week!

Sherika
