ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

The ORC.

Week 3 and it has been slow going.....
We had to throw in the yard sale just to mess with our universe a little.

But....there has to be craziness before there can be pretty so these post show the process of planning and putting a room together.

I know what you are thinking....punch planning in the face.... just get to the finished product.

What have we been up to you ask?
Dismantling 20 years of bookcases.

Time to throw my sister under the design bus....see the fake ivy in a basket?
I know.

Sometimes you look at these things and then go turn on an episode of the Kardashians because it all get so overwhelming.

I get that.
Hot mess.....at the "bunny hutch"

A little magazine hoarding...like Golf Digest for the last 20 years.  Come on Brad.  I want to know how many times you actually go through those.  I "think" I threw them all in the trash and I "think" he got them all back out.  I can be brave like that.

I was there to drag it all down and then I got to leave....whoop

Lately since I have been cleaning out closets and such at my own home I ask myself "if I was moving would I want to pay to move it".....usually the answer has been no.

There was some shopping at HomeGood's

Cause besides flea markets I can always find a few goodies for bookshelves there.
I actually had time to do a little DIY for the room that involved tiles, wallpaper and modpodge.

We covered the seats of these 2 chairs in cream linen.

Maggie started painting this drop leaf table with some chalk paint.

There you have the dreaded "we are halfway" post of the ORC.

Definitely some completed pictures next week.

I'm sure all of my peers have made way more progress that me.

Go look.

My mom has that same fake ivy. She loves it and will never get rid of it. You should go help her. Great tip for getting rid of things. You know how to source from HomeGoods like nobody else.

Was the ivy all coated with dust too???? And the magazines, too funny, can't wait to see what happens to them as they were fished out of the garbage!!!!

Wonder what you'd do if it was a stack of House Beautiful and Traditional Home, just curious? Sometimes I look at them! LOVE your Homegoods stash!

You always find the best stuff at HG. And my husband has a subscription to Gold Digest and hasn't cracked it open once. But yet I got in trouble when I tried to cancel the subscription. Weirdos.

How in the world did you accomplish all of this AND have a yard sale?? It's looking so good, Sherry -- can't wait to see it all come together.

You are such a wizard at shelf styling, I can't wait to see this! Homegoods is the best. The best. I too have a little crafty project up my sleeve just like your tile project! Need a place to set down my wine too :)

Ha Golf Digest!!

Those shelves have loads of potential and I love the peeks of what you'll be using to style them.

What's going on with those tiles?? So curious.

Can't wait to see what you do w/the tiles - really like those. My husband just pitched all his old Gourmet magazines - they were blocking the space all my old design magazine need...

I love the fabric on the chair! And how fun to do chalkboard paint. I am glad I am not the only one sprinting to the finish line.....it really is a daunting process to get it all done in 6 weeks. Wish I had done a bit more planning, myself!

Love the mid century lines of the drop leaf table! That chair cover is very pretty too. Love the Moorish details of the tiles. Can't wait to see it all come together next week!

The thing about reading your posts is that they have me smiling all the way through...and guess you and your sister burned some calories sorting!

Right now I am trying to think about what to take to San Francisco...and i'm thinking scrap it all...not really, can't afford that, but I don't want to move it either. Books are so expensive to move. I am rambling.

My first husband saved newspapers. At one point I had three stacks three feet high each in my living room. Needless to say, he is my ex!! Love what you are doing! xo
