NEVER AGAIN

A garage sale.
Done.
Forever.
I mean it.

I guess you can't be good at everything and it appears I suck at garage sales.

Oh I had big dreams alright.  Planning what I was going to do with the money.  Maybe a trip abroad....maybe a second story....endless possibilities.

My husband kept saying "do you think this is the best use of your time"

To which I replied "yes...you will see....it will be fun"

I hate it when he is right.  Grrrrrrr.

A couple of full days organizing and cleaning out areas....pricing.  Taking it all over to my sisters where she had done the same thing.  2 days of sitting...waiting for the crowds.

Hahahahahaha.

You might be thinking "how are you going to sell it when it is loaded in the back of a truck".

This was after we were so mad on Saturday that we threw it all in the truck and took it to Goodwill.

We were not bringing any of it back into our house.  #sodone  #letitgo  #neverneveragain

Oh...and I made enough to barely get my hair done.  Are you feeling my pain?

Let's just move on.

Thursday night I went to the opening of Kandrac & Kole's new design office.  Joann and Kelly are good friends of mine and very talented!

I love this bathroom where they used Phillip Jeffries coveted wallpaper.

This is an office space they completed...yes please on the door.

This was the first space they did for the UMCH.

And the second one!

Here is there new space.  This rendering was done by Joan Anderson Borawski.

Remember when she did our renderings for the Inspiration House?

Look at this wall she did....

It looks like real brick huh?

I think we can say "damn Joan".

Well that was my weekend.  I saw some pretty things and learned a lesson.

Sometimes that is all you can hope for.

Booyah.

I agree on the garage sale - you want tho think they will come in and shop like it is home goods - but that is not the case,

ANYWAY - the brick wall - is that the brick veneer? I have been wanting to do this on a wall in my kitchen...
please tell me (or show me ) more!

Thanks

I feel your pain! I hate having garage sales, but apparently every 6 years or so I forget how horrible they are and have another one. I can't tell you how many people asked how much I was selling a brand new shower curtain for. I'd say $2, and they'd put it back down. Really?

Hope you have a relaxing day today :)

I have said the same thing about garage sales too. I've not had another one and am sticking to that goal! Oh well.

I too am over the garage sales! Now if I have decor items I take them to a fab consignment store in Suwanee. They do all the work for me, and I get to reap the benefits.

I do believe I am allergic to even the THOUGHT of having another garage sale. Blech!

OMG!!! I was just contemplating doing a garage sale and then remembered the last time I did one, when I said "Never again!" You just confirmed this for me!!!! I shall donate, best use of my time. Tell your hubby I said thanks for being right!!!

NO WAY. I JUST posted about a moving sale next week so you are telling me that no one showed up? Darn...I might have to take it all to consignment.

I promised my daughter a portion of the sales. Oh well. Perhaps with some beer and wine, we can just turn it into a party.

Hi Sherry,

So nice to meet you!

Okay, you were on the wrong side of the stall!...Garage sales are for BUYING, that's where the fun is! Selling, well, that's tough, tedious and time consuming! But, like you said, never again. Love the renderings and your designer friends are very talented, indeed!

Thanks for your sweet comment on 'My favouite room' guest post at Kim's!

Garage sales are pointless in my neighborhood. But those rooms are pretty, so there you have it.

I became a member of the "never again" club a few summers ago. Seriously, why bother?

After our last and never-ever-again yard sale, I concluded that shoppers want everything for free - plus they want you to load it in their car.

Goodwill, here I come with another load! After all, isn't it more blessed to give?

Not a fan..too much work, too many weirdos..LOL.

I say give it away and make someone else incredibly happy:)

I did the same thing for the World's Longest Yard Sale but that went on from Monday till Sunday! I will never. ever do that again. SAying that I have an 8x8 booth at the Knitting Mill in Chattanooga, Tn. and that is nothing but FUN ! Hubby and I are having a ball....we go out every weekend looking for treasure! It is so much better. Love the faux brick wall, amazing!

When we were on the farm, where the entire family lived, we had a multi family garage sale every year. I was happy when we ran out of stuff.

We've had two sales here at our present home. The first was a huge success, because we are in a small town...and I have a certain "reputation". People were lined up for Christmas bric a brac and home accessories before dawn. I bought my first DSLR camera with those proceeds. The second and last sale was not so successful. No more for us.

I feel the same way about garage sales. They suck! I bet you had some good stuff too. Which Goodwill did you take it to? I'm on my way there now!

You must have had really good stuff at your garage sale. I found that people didn't want good stuff. They want the mug with the broken handle.

Umm, that brick is AMAZING! I'm not going to do it anywhere but I'd love to know how she did it.

What a riot! At least you had some "bonding" time with your sister! The wallpaper is absolutely gorgeous! Such talent in the world! Better that garage sales!
Another day,

Sorry no one showed up to buy your crap. I have been there. Spent days cleaning, organizing, pricing. And sat in the garage by myself most of the day. wtf.

I'm with you. Never, ever again. Only did it once. Had people tell me it was the nicest garage sale they'd ever been to but didn't sell half of our stuff! Although a lovely young lady purchased one of my vintage envelope clutches (nice leather, good condition). The next day she rang my front bell. I opened the door and she handed me my passport! She said something like, "I don't think you meant to leave this in the bag!" What a sweetheart!

These comments are hillarious. I always have a laugh when I read your posts. F garage sales, they're over rated!
