ONE ROOM CHALLENGE WEEK 6

ORC:  A process that literally forces you to make a freaking decision whether you want to or not.  Similar to poking a stick in your eyes until it hurts really bad.

Yep.....down to the wire people.  Here we all are busy finishing up so we can style and photograph for the big reveal next week.

If you are new here....and don't know what the ORC is too bad.  You're smart.....I know you can figure it out :)

I left you last week with the challenging job of hanging 11 pictures into plaster.

My husband so graciously hung these for me 6 years ago in my LR.  6 years.....a lot can happen.  He wasn't so excited about it this time so I found myself with a tape measure, nails, hammer, level and a shitload of anxiety.  Anyone else have this phobia about nailing things into the wall?  Is there a pill for someone who has nightmares about numerous nail-holes behind pictures?

But....as I have said before....deadlines will make a person do things out of character.

I am here to tell you that I am standing on the mountain screaming out to the world....."take that hula hoop".  Don't even try and keep me down...."gimme the hammer baby.....and move back".  "I got this".

BAM.
Not one extra hole....

Took me 2 hours though.

You can see out of the corner that I used crystal knobs on the black chest.  Linda suggested it.  I was at Anthro and...well they were there....so done.  I had checked around for some cool brass ones but to be truthful.....got lazy  Can you relate?

I tried about 20 throws....what?  Don't act surprised...you know you have a bunch stashed about.  Anyway...amazing how when I put the black and white on and took the picture it was perfect.

When you read this I will be on an airplane  heading down to Tortola to sail the BVI on a 50 ft catamaran for a week with a cook,  captain, and 3 other couples.  Whoop.

The bad part of this vacation is I had to go buy a bathing suit.  Tell me something worse and I will slap you back into reality.

I was in the dressing room and I looked in the mirror and screamed...."who the hell is that?  Grandma?"....turned around and I was alone.  WHAT....I was shocked!!  The salesperson came to the door and asked if I needed any help....guess she heard the commotion.

Can you help?  Not unless you can turn the clock back 20 years babe.  Now beat it.

#toooldforbathingsuits

Go and see what progress everyone else has made!

Ive done that in a dressing room before. Some store mirrors are kinder than others, but some just don't lie... Forget the suit if you can and just have THE most wonderful time on your vacation! LUcky you!!! Your gallery looks fabulous, as does the bench and styling! Love it so much. Don't even give us a thought for a week and savor every second( for us, too).

I just hate how you make it look so easy....I'm drinking over at my house. That wall is fantastic, and the throw and sneakers are so fun. I love the bench. Have a great trip, and enjoy the body you have. If it is healthy, we should not complain.

Oh Sherry, you are the best. Thanks for a laugh to start the day! The pictures came out perfectly, and I think it's so funny that you have that fear of making millions of holes in the wall. I always find the trick is to pour a glass of wine and ask the husband the leave the premises. That being said, I have many unpatched holes in my walls so who am I to talk.

Hope you are having the most fantastic time on your trip. That sounds so amazing!! Enjoy!

Kim @ Savvy Southern Style said...

Well, I certainly don't share that phobia and you would freak out to see how many nail holes are behind things in this house. Love your gallery wall and thanks for the laugh. OMG, I don't even look at swimsuits anymore. Have the best trip!!

My husband would totally approve of your perfect wall of art. He like that.
Have a great vacation! No one sees you as bad as a mirror.

Kudos to you for accomplishing the picture wall. Impressive for sure.

The dressing room mirror can also make you see your mother in it's reflection. It does for me anyway.

Hate bathing suits. Love your wall :) It already looks like a magazine.

GIRL....Have you not heard of 3m hanging strips? They are a godsend for those of us with plaster walls. Your room looks fab by the way my love!

LOOKS fabulous! The wall is perfection! Let me tell you, I worked at an art gallery for years and the holes in the wall were hilarious!! Nothing a little spackle and paint can't fix. I move art in my house every week. Not kidding. Don't have a single client that has moved art in their house:-) Excellent job!! HATE BATHING SUIT SHOPPING. I would rather wear a muumuu- or is it a moo moo?!

So impressed by your photo hanging skills. I'm so bad at this- usually end up with 20 random holes in the
Wall. It looks great!! So jelly you are Tortola!

The Pink Pagoda said...

You rock for doing that wall. I hire someone to come do that type of thing at my house. It involves math, so I can't do it. My husband doesn't share my expectations for precision which can create a strained environment during picture hanging : )

Your styling is perfection as always! I hope you have a wonderful trip!

I am by a pool in Florida right now in shorts...ah well, think I will have a beer and slip on the ole one piece.

I AM SO IMPRESSED with your art wall...I would have had so many bad holes to patch and paint.

Enjoy your fabulous trip.

I don't think I'll be sporting a bathing suit anytime soon, unless it's under a very large coverup! Your art install looks fantastic - you are a styling ninja!

And they look amazing!

Have a great well-deserved vacation Sherry!

One of my best vacations was sailing around BVI on a private sail boat for a carefree 10 days. BVI makes up for bathing suit shock!

Omgosh I was in Carmel and saw some of these botanicals in one of my fav shops there, Tancredi and Morgan! You did an amazing job and I am totally impressed with your abilities once again.
I know all about Grandma in a bathing suit! I am sure you do not fit in that category. Just enjoy your wonderful trip, nothing like being on the water, relax and dream away your days in the fun and sun, xo Kathysue

Your wall looks great! I get anxiety too when I think of all those nails. Our apartment has concrete walls so I had to use 3M Command strips - worked well but took me forever too. Have a wonderful trip!
