FLORAL FABRICS WITH A BLACK BACKGROUND

I'm fat.

I don't think it was so much the actual dinner....but all the snacking and deserts.  It's gotta stop or even my "fat" pants won't fit:)

So while I struggle with that issue....the holidays were great with all my siblings and their kids together for the first time in probably 10 years.

Here we are....me, the bunny [Maggie], Nancy and Tom hanging out at the newly designed ORC room!  People keep telling me how blond I am now.....and I just say that I went back to my natural color instead of all that "dying it dark business".

Enough family stuff.....and on to design....

I was searching for some floral fabrics with black backgrounds the other day.  Thought I would share my finds with y'all!

Here is the first group.
Left to right:
Manuel Canovas/ Parfum d'ete
Scalamandre/ Stravagarte
Schumacher/ Chang Mai Dragon

Left to right:
Hazelton House/ Albertina
Hazelton House/ Anne Dorothea

Left to right:
Colefax and Fowler/ Evesham
Colefax and Fowler/ Snow Tree
Waverly/ Primrose

Left to right:
Sanderson/ Floreanna
Waverly/ Primrose Patio
Nina Cambell/ Lomasi

Nina Cambell/ Peroquet
Walmart!
Aerin/ Meadowwood Onyx

For me there is just something about a floral with a black background.....especially with "surprise" white walls.....right?

Especially this one with gold accents, a little cheetah and some natural.....

Or this one...

With those fabulous dishes from Charlotte Moss! And that great pink velvet pillow from JoyWorkshoppe

I remember from last year that blog reading takes a back seat to everything else on your list during the busy holiday season....

I am about to take a peek at all of the Christmas tours that are hanging around blogland these days.....I applaud all of you crazy creative Christmas decorating fools!

Walmart? I had no idea. Love those those mood boards! P.S. You aren't fat. I saw the picture of you and Abby recently and was thinking how gorgeous you look.

I predict you sparking a new trend, here! The Chiang Mai will always be a fave, but I really love that sweet Nina Campbell print too. Glad you had a happy Thanksgiving!

I am one of those crazy decorating fools you mentioned. In fact a friend and I have a pact: whoever stops decorating for Christmas, gets taken to "the home" cause life is over:):):) Love the inspiration board cause I am MAD about animal prints!!!

The mood boards are elegant! My favorite is Aerin/ Meadowwood Onyx. The Walmart fabric is very pretty, but it's quilting weight fabric and only 44" wide.

I love black background fabrics. I use to decorate with a black background floral years ago. Love the scalamandre fabric in the first grouping. I have two gorgeous black needlepoint rugs rolled up under my bed in storage. Classics have to stay even if not seen, it looks like they are coming back again, you never know. YOU my dear are not fat by any stretch of the imagination. I would say Perfect comes to my mind. Have a great day!!

Long been a fan of florals over black backgrounds - hard to find good ones! I redid a chair and hunted for TWO years for an acceptable black chintz. These are some mighty fine picks. Walmart? Who knew a place that always smells like mushrooms (?!) would have such gorgeous fabrics. Call me clueless.

Guessing that thatfamily sammich was full of laughs.

I am not a big floral fan unless they are on a black background. I love the drama!

So happy you had a great holiday sister! You are smoking with that blonde hair! I was able to catch up on your blog posts over the holiday and what an awesome reprieve than having to deal with the 15 guests I had in my house. GULP. Haha. LOVE that chandelier you featured also and just favorited the pink pillow ladies shop..good stuff! good stuff! xoxoxo

I have tried forever to find a way to use that Nina Lomasi in my house. The wallpaper of that always takes my breath away and gets me scheming (spelling?) Anyway, not a bad choice in the bunch!

Love the picture of you with your siblings. You picked my favorite black background fabric in the bunch & used it in your first mood board. You always inspire me - thank you. I hope you & yours enjoy the rest of the season.

I tried to buy two
different black sweaters
with a touch of floral
embroidery in the last
month, and both were
sold out, so I think you
are on to something,
Sherry! Both of them
were from British shops,
and for some reason all
of these prints have a
British feel to me.....

And BTW, you do not
look like a fat-pants type
of girl!

Have always loved a black background for a floral as well - there is a wallpaper similar to the one C&F fabric that I really love - I'll have to look that one up. So nice that you and your siblings could be together!
