Just when you think everything is perfect....well not perfect cause that can not be achieved without some major lottery winnings....but you know perfect in my tiny little world....here comes a problema. Translation: problem.
We noticed the drains on the patio and 2 other places were backing up badly....well more like a small wading pool.
Yup. Not good.
So this was my husbands idea of a temporary solution.

Oh hell no.
Ghetto.
The ink was not even dry on the last check I wrote them....but I get the guys back out to fix it.....yes I know after it was all "pine strawed and pretty".
Dig it all up.
And then instead of putting the flagstone back down like before.... it made sense to repeat the same treatment. It will be easier to get to those pesky buggers next time.

Now the problem is how to get a lawnmower up and over all this.
It's always something isn't it? So I finished paying for the other landscaping bill and boom.
I have another one.
OK....I am kinda excited to finally have a little makeover to post about.
Not today but soon.....

I persuaded her it was time for a little refresh....but damn she has gotten just a little opinionated since this room was done.
And.... she went and got married so now I got 2 people trying to show me they can do my job.
Think I will go to work with them this week and take over their office. Show them how to do do things.....just sayin.

Think of it this way, at least no more unsightly trash bags right?! I think it looks great Sherry, glad you made that switch and in a way got to have that kinda problem to make the switch! ;-) Can't wait to see the re-do!

Home ownership is always dealing us something else to do, it is truly the never ending story. Love the solution, sorry it created another bill, but so worth it!!

Your field stone steps are gorgeous.
However, if you need a lawn mower ramp the stones should be sized to that width and 2 stone ramps each side of your steps added. They will look like coping, not ramps.
Been done for centuries.
Drystack is fine.
Keep the gravel path, add the stone elsewhere. Perhaps create an entry in your hedge, to a new flagstone terrace !

Clever "Plan B"!
You and I just need to go out for drinks and commiserate! As you know we added 164 bags of pea gravel to our backyard along with 1 ton of boulders...then another lovely box drain type device to keep the paver patio from flooding every time there is a monsoon here in the big ATL!!! UGH. And, the windows are in...still waiting on the new shutters so the painter can get started. I am in desperate need of a fun project or a vacation...which by the way is not happening this week. Teaching 3-4s VBS!!!
Oh dear. My husband came up with a similar solution when we had drainage problems this winter. And there was a lot of mud flinging going on too. Pea gravel!! Love the stuff -especially how it sounds when you walk on it. (What did you do with the flagstone?)

Love it...particularly the steps. Having sand...we don't ever need to worry about drainage. We IS the drainage.

Your landscaping is awesome! I love pea gravel and your boxwood hedges are spectacular. It is major check writing for repairs here too lately, I cannot seem to have money to spend on decorating! IT keeps going to garage door repairs, pool repair, fencing, etc. etc. But I just have to keep my eye on the prize and think beyond this shizzz. xoxo Nancy

I love gravel when it gets low you just hawl more in...can't go wrong!! Oh boy your daughter's bedroom looked like my daughters old room. Well I took everything down but still haven't finished it...I guess I have to!
I like what they did with the gravel, although the flagstones did look good too. That landscaping is just divine. I love it! It's a good thing that the guys who worked on it finished it up good and fast. Anyway, I hope everything goes well with the makeover. All the best!
