CURRY AND CO WAREHOUSE SALE

Hope everyone had a swell weekend.  My husband was flying so my sister came [she only lives 25 minutes away ] and spent the weekend with me.  One of the things I did was clean out my closet.

Not the whole thing......let's not get crazy.  Just the jean section.  Yep, I hauled them all onto my bed and proceeded to start trying them on to see what goes and what stays.  I am pretty much done with the ones that have about a 3" rise....the ones that show half a butt crack when you bend over.  WHO started that trend anyway.  I mean we aren't plumbers.

After about an hour I decided that all jeans without some stretch in them had to go also.  I don't need anything cutting off my circulation and then still feeling that way after 20 deep knee bends.

Also eliminated were any that had to be worn with a heel higher than 1 inch.  Probably not gonna wear them either.  It KILLS me to admit this but I just feel dorky in heels....like I am going to fall over or trip.  AND...I have.

All of this info leads me to a point...I needed a jean overhaul.  Which is about as fun as doing taxes in my opinion.  Not quite as bad as bathing suit shopping....

And I am not going to fall to the trend that you need a hundred styles of jeans and now of course in every hot color.  You can lose 20 lbs just trying them on....it's work.  So after the great search of July 2012, from 250.00 to 70.00....I finally settled on some good old jeans from the Gap.  Basic....blue denim....stretch.....cheap [and cute I might add].  Done.

Let us move on.

Hopefully you have heard of Currey and Co.  They are a lighting company based here in Atlanta.  Started in 1988 by Robert B Currey as a purveyor of historic garden furnishings.  The lighting came about in the 1990's and well....the rest is history as they say!

In May they had a GIANT  warehouse sale.  In case you think they have these once a year or something.....NO.... I believe this was the second one ever.  And let me tell you it was huge and chock full of deals.

I went the first day and wish I had gotten there right when the doors opened.  The prices were incredible....

It was 5 times as big as this picture.  Rows and rows of lamps...mostly priced at $24-$36......chandeliers, mirrors & garden furniture. YES...you read that right.

Millions of gorgeous lamps.  Can you see the price of these...$36.

That is cheaper than Homegoods.

I think this chandelier was like $75 or something.

It started on Wednesday and on Sat afternoon they were slashing prices as low as $15 to $5.  Uh huh.

There was a whole section of lampshades...millions....for $10 to $15.
It was torture.  I wanted to buy everything

See this little cutie?  I stalked the girl who had it in her cart for hours thinking maybe she would put it back.  She said she was keeping it and then proceeded to smile real big every time she saw me......kind of in a "mean girl" way.
Pretty blue and brass.  When I first got there I was loading up my cart like a shopping spree at Costco's.  After I came out of my daze...I knew I could not go home with 50-60 lamps.  Ridiculous.

The also had a few pieces of furniture.  Look at these bad boys.

And this.

It was unreal.  Everyday they put out new merchandise.....it was the motherload of warehouse sales.

I got 2 incredible lamps for my LR at the price of $50.00 for BOTH!  Could. You. Die.

And I already sold my old ones.  Moonwalking.

A commenter asked about the name of this yellow and blue fabric....it is Brunschwig & Fils Monsoon Floral and Linen Cotton Print/Caton Blue/Soleil.  The stripe is Kravet/Cap Deluca.  The Blue floral is Kravet/Ketene-5.  The yellow is Duralee 72050-66.  The green toile is Robert Allen: Sweetbay Spark/Laurel.  The blue geometric is Groundworks GWF-3003-15. The green velvet is Kravet/Versailles-E26914.  There you have it.

Also...I am happy to say that I sold Haley's paintings!!!  So excited.

Gonna be a good week....The Mart is starting, Scott's [I will be working there on Friday in the North building...more details in next post] and a party at Huff Harrington co-hosted by Ally of From The Right Bank

That is a busy week for Sherika!

i have got to make a trip to scott's just to hug you.

talk about mean girl lamp tramp!

and the jean drama. every girl knows this pain. i'm a little person, and i can vouch that lowrise jeans only begin to look acceptable at 94lbs. so i'm not sure why we even bother. also. can we talk back pocket size? why on earth would designers ever slap anything but a big ol pocket on them? when the pockets are little (for monkey sized hands)our butts look huge. on to over-embellished jeans: do flat bottomed women actually believe they look like JLO when they sport flaps on the A$$pockets cuz omg no.

those curry prices are unbelievable, and the brown lamps look like the annie selke scramble fabric i have used here!!

i'm out.

smiles.

Two things (sure)...jean shopping falls right between bathing suit shopping and new car shopping. Just kill me now.

Also, when I scroll through your posts my head has a running commentary that you almost always repeat verbatim. Brainshare.

And LAMPS! I think 50-60 sounds ultra normal.

What can I say, I would have been in Heaven at the Curry and Co Warehouse Sale.
Jeans,oh well, they are hot, uncomfortable, and boring...but we wear them? I have a stack, just keep wearing the dark ones in the winter and the light colored ones in the summer. Will the cycle ever stop.

Okay, I am feeling a little neglected about the Curry Sale ... where was I ... how come I didn't know??? Ahh, and I have only 2 pairs of jeans in my closet right now because they are the only 2 that fit and I get so frustrated trying to find new ones that don't make my butt look too big that I have refused to buy. I'll be trekking to the Gap!!

The Currey & Co sale for me would be like the Running of the Brides @ Filene's Basement Wedding Dress Sale. Would KILL to go. Crazy jealous....

Currey & Co. has the very best lighting. Next time, give us a heads up on the warehouse sale. Definitely worth the drive down from Chattanooga. My hubby got me some jeans last Christmas with some elastic and they're so comfy, but I still love my old fashioned Levi's!

Sherry you are killing me. All of those lamps and only two hands! I was in heaven just from the pics, I can't imagine having been there in person. Can't wait to see the ones you picked!

Thanks so much for posting about the party! You're coming, right? It's going to be so much fun. And what a coincidence I just wrote a post about my Currey sale lamps. It'll go up later in the week. :)

Ok, I'm green at the moment over that lamp sale! Was not in the loop on that one. PS: the moonwalking comment made me laugh out loud, friend! M.

Massive lamp-shopping envy! I'm desperately trying to convince my husband that the bedside lamps in our bedroom that are a year old are the wrong scale (which they totally are) and that we need new ones. It's not going well.

I've also settled on Gap jeans as the "best" ones, super easy and I can keep re-buying online if I need to!

Linda@ Lime in the Coconut said...

Wowza! And it didn't look packed. I would have envisioned thralls of designers body checking each other out of the way...a kinda roller derby of the warehouse sale!

holy cracker-jack! You only came home with two!! You are a stronger woman than I am!!! Some women have a weakness for shoes & handbags, for me its lamps and pillows-for realz!!

pam {simple details} said...

Crazy, fun!! And, WHY did you only get two? I would have bet my life you'd leave with at least a dozen!

No more talk about blue jeans I have to go through mine...ugh, I have way to many to be considered normal! As for that lamp sale it ever happens again please let everyone know before the sale actually happens! I know, trade secret....;)

I am so jealous. I know that company, well. How many pairs of jeans did you actually keep? I hate jean shopping.

I have a serious lamp addiction and I love Currey & Co. If I had been anywhere NEAR Atlanta during this sale my husband would definitely put me in design REHAB.....I am glad you made out great!

Lisa @ Shine Your Light said...

I really needed to go to that sale! I am such a spaz when it comes to lamps, I keep buying and dating them but ultimately it doesn't work out and they have to go back to the store. Laughing about your jean experience - it IS so much work to find a pair - exhausting!! Glad to hear the good old Gap came through for you!

OMG I would have felt that I'd died and gone to heaven had I be able to go to that sale. Lamps are a big weakness for me.

As for the mean girl, she reminds me of the biatch that took the bench (similar to the ones you posted here) just seconds before me at Jordan's Furniture clearance section in Avon, Mass. I'm still licking my wounds from it albeit it was a year ago. Ok, so I carry a grudge....

Aaarghhh, why do you folks in the ATL have all the good ish! I mean seriously? That lamp collection was insane and the prices should be illegal. Don't even get me started on the furniture. Jeezus lady no idea how you excercised such restraint
