A little before and after.....

First of all thank you for your concern on my recent screw up.  That was 24 hours of hell for real.

I couldn't think of anything else until I got it straightened out.

I am sure you get my drift here.  She made her plans in AUGUST for a nice week at the beach.  She could not have been more understanding.  Whew.

Last Thursday I did a very small dining room makeover.  Actually just recovering the DR seats and addressing the table.

Let's start at the beginning.  Here is the before.

She already had a beautiful soft buttery yellow on the walls and some pretty silk drapes.  That is a good start

You might remember the redesign we did on her space.  You can see it here

After the redesign, we tweaked the DR and it looked like this...

A little organization...a new rug and changing out the pictures.

Here was the old rug....

We always knew that she wanted to change out the fabric on the DR chairs.

Here is the chair before

Chair after....

I used Betwixt.  It is textural and neutral with the black and white.
If you remember....here were my thoughts on this room

I planned on using the color in the host and hostess chair, but they were too short.  Dang...it is hard to find DR chairs that are 40-41 inches hight these days.

That is why I pulled the color into the pillows. Us "desecraters" have to be able to make concessions sometimes.....Pull a plan B.

I am so in love with the jars....I want some for ME...ME ME ME!

The only thing I bought on the dresser was that cute little Ikat bowl!!!  I just dug around her house to come up with a vignette.....

One for her....one for me :)

Fortunately she was having a party the day after...so my flowers were put to good use.  I love working with Kara.......she is SO trusting!  I think all of you will agree....that is the BEST kind of client!

We will keep looking for the perfect chairs for that room......I know they are out there somewhere....

On another thought...I am working on a whole house renovation.

This is the old carpet that has been there while they were working.

Here are the two samples we are thinking about using....
I am in love with this herringbone.  Classic.  We are painting the railings SW: Iron Ore.  It is a very dark gray.

Here is another choice.
I love this one also.  The trellis is actually a gray. Which one do you favor?

Well..... the lovely holiday where we consume about 5000 calories is almost upon us.  I will not be cooking, but my job is to set the table.....I am good with that.

For those of you who left comments about our rental in Rosemary Beach can find the info here
Now listen...Do not go to the site and start criticizing my decor or I will cute every last one of y'all.  This place was furnished when we bought it.  I have of course tried to get rid of all the palm trees,  monkeys and fish....but remember....it is a rental and as much as I want to put all white slipcovers on the furniture and make it to my liking.....it is just not possible.  The good part is that it is 200 steps to one of the most amazing beach ever........

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving....you can read my post from last year here......I am still thankful for all the same things!  What a lazy blogger I am :)

Sha Boom!

i ove the trellis rug, but it is kind of overdone, and the herringbone is classic so that is my pick! the chairs look great, too!

LOVE both of those carpets, a tough choice! The DR update is delightful, your client must adore you (of course who wouldn't?)!! I know what you mean about not being able to focus on anything until you get a problem straightened out... I'm sure you handled it with grace and humor. BTW your rental looks darling, no trace of monkeys...

Great makeover on the DR, as for the carpets for the stairs, Wow, both are great but I LOVE the herringbone (I think the color combo makes it feel current, but the herringbone is classic so it will stay in style longer)! Can't wait to see the finished product. M.

Well I don't know what you're talking about becauuse that beach house looks adorable. Very nice.

Great DR makeover...dang I love that Betwixt. I've yet to see it anywhere that I didn't love it.

Think I am leaning towards the trellis carpet for the stairs...but either one would be gorgeous. Can't wait to see the whole house.

Have a nice Thanksgiving! Karen

Herringbone - bam! I love the books on the cake stand - stealing that for sure! Oh and the jars - my Christmas list just got longer!

Lovely makeover! For the rug, I choose the herringbone. It's timeless plus it seems like it'd hide dirt better with the busier pattern. Thank you for visiting me so I could find your awesome blog! I'm having a grand time browsing around!

What a difference a few small changes can make! Beautiful space, Sherry...the herringbone is clean and classic-an absolute favorite of mine, but I'm sure whatever you pick will look just as fabulous! Happy Turkey Day!

A great update Sherry. And I can't wait to see the house renovation take place. I'm more partial to the herringbone sample. A very great Thanksgiving to you as well - no cooking for me either - woo hoo!

I think the before Dining room rug is what I have in my dining room. Is that bad?!? do I need a new one?!

I love both samples for the stairs, but, like others, I wonder if the herringbone is a more classic timeless look?

Happy, T-day girl!!!!

Sherry, I love the changes you made to the dining room. I saw that same black and cream geometric at Carrie's blog Hazardous Design, it is beautiful. My rug pick: the herringbone, it's a classic.

Herringbone definitely! Love it. Do you mind me asking the source on that? One day I might finally get around to putting a runner on my stairs and am keeping a file.

Love the dining room makeover. Looks so fresh and inviting. Perfect for Thanksgiving. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving, by the way!

Both of those carpets are beautiful!! Yikes, that's going to be a tough decision. Hope you have a great Thanksgiving. I should be cleaning my house and getting ready for turkey day but reading blogs is so much more fun!

I love, love the herringbone! So classic and elegant.

On another note, I hope your curling iron burns are healed! While traveling this Fall, I forgot mine and bought a compact, plugless one. I thought I was so smart BUT it ws powered by a canister of some kind of gas and it scared me so much to use it I threw it out.

Wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving!

The dining room looks great! Can't wait to see pictures from your next project.

I just read your post from last year about what you are grateful for. I felt a bit of sadness that your mom is no longer with you. You are so right that life goes by so fast and we need to be so thankful for all our special relationships.

I am grateful to my blogging family and to my brother for hosting our family's meal tomorrow. My 87 year old mom will be there. You might appreciate this little fact, she still teaches a yoga class every week. And, it was from her that I learned how important it is to take good care of your teeth. Growing up we never had a lot of money, but she made sure we had braces and regular visits to the dentist. Definitely one more thing that I'm so grateful for.

Smiles and hugs to you Sherry.

I am ALL for the herringbone. I wonder if you have considered putting brass casters on the chair legs? Might not give it the height it needs though...
Hoep you had a nice Thanksgiving!

I love blue-and-white accessories..these are very pretty. shame about the colored chairs but the betwixt fabric is a winner and great idea with the cushions. I like the idea of the b&w herringbone with grey bannister - sounds stunning!
