CATCHING UP

Well I sure left you guys hanging.....you know what....finding free time when you have to do everything yourself is challenging.

Like house maintenance, insurance....taxes and all that crap.

I am here to tell you it is overwhelming sometimes and I just want to close down.  But I am trying to get back on track and set things up to happen automatically.

Somebody was trying to tell me I needed another dog and I almost fell for it and then I came to my senses.  Are you kidding me?  That would be the worst thing for me to do right?

I really am going to try and be better.  How I managed to blog 2xs a month is beyond me!

I got a new phone the other day and Lord almighty.

Talk about a time suck.  You know how they are at Apple....they give you your package and send you on your way with all but a quick pat on the rear saying "you got this kid".

And let me just say.....I do not consider myself helpless in technical situations....but this little puppy took some time to migrate and half the apps wouldn't work and blah blah blah.

I also got a desk top computer and that little monster is still sitting in the box because if the phone gave me that much trouble....I need to be in the right frame of mind to tackle it.  So it can just sit in "time out" right now.

Anyway enough complaining. I do have a very small project to share with you:)

Before you gasp...cause its color!  The blue fabric is a long lumbar and the pretty pink swirl fabric are 2 pillows in chairs.....

This is a girls bedroom....and I went totally old school here and did a cornice!  I can not remember the last time I did this but I love it!

I don't have pictures of the bedding yet but we are using some really pretty linens with Chinese red trim and a 12" monogram on the shams...

In other news I received the chairs from Charish....and I am not completely happy because they were in much worse shape than they admitted.

There was a lot of this going on......

Which wasn't exactly disclosed but I got my guy working on them and by the time that beautiful mohair goes on and he does a little magic I think things will be fine.  They better be.....

So there you have it...not exactly the blog post of dreams but it's a start.

I am really trying to dig myself out of this slight depression....it will be 6 months since my sister died next Friday and my emotions are all over the place.

I am aware that it takes time so I am trying to be patient.....

A LITTLE BEFORE AND AFTER

Hello friends......

I writing this from Nantucket.  I came up here to help celebrate my neighbors husbands 60th birthday.  Any excuse to come back up here right!

Of course if you saw my Instagram post on Wednesday you know that as I was in line for security I realized that I had forgotten my wallet at home and had to Uber back [30 min] get my wallet and Uber back to the airport another 30 min.  I wasn't sure I was going to make it but by some miracle I did.

I decided not to stress and I just said to myself if I make it....great and if I didn't then it would not be the end of the world.

I guess it was in the cards for me to be here.

The first night I was here I slept almost 12 hours.  That was pretty cool.....

Anyway I am going to share a bedroom that got installed a few weeks back.  It is not finished yet but its seen quite the transformation since they moved in....

The beginning....let's quickly take a look at the before.....

There was a textured wallpaper on the walls that had to be removed.

The next step was moving this bed in that was in an apartment up in Philadelphia that she acquired.

The Schumacher wallpaper went up and as you can see we barely had room for end tables but I managed to find these that are about 18" wide!

The next phase were the custom window treatments and pillows.

This is a before picture of the window area across from the bed.

And these are 2 chairs that she also inherited!

It has been years since I have done a cornice and I am loving it!

Of course it is not accessorized yet but it will be soon.....

I have picked out some pretty lamps and then I need a few trinkets to bring it all together....

So there you have it.  Honestly work is a pretty good distraction for me but my brain is definitely not a full capacity.  I am easily distracted and find that I am procrastinating on things that I need to be doing.

Ugh.

I heard a simple saying the other day.  Time takes time.  Duh right!  I mean it is so simple.

Hope you guys all have a great weekend....

Thanks so much for reading and hanging in there with me.

MORE PROJECT UPDATES

You guys gave me some good ideas to help stop my night terrors about my sister.  I am trying to look at as many beautiful pictures of her as much as I can to replace the horror of watching her die.

Many of you have suffered the same feelings I have had and I appreciate your words of wisdom to help me on my journey of healing.  Thank you for sharing.

I am slowly moving through life right now trying to catch up with work and forcing myself to step outside of my comfort zone.  Every morning when the alarm rings I fight that urge to stay in bed and sleep all day.  I know that is not the way to move through this situation.  Time is a great healer....

Let's get to design now......

About a month or so ago some beautiful window treatments were installed  at a clients and as many years as I have been in business.....I am always amazed at what a game changer this can be!

Just so you know....it was January when these were measured and it took this long to get the fabric in stock and fabricated!  Things are so slow these
days :(

This beautiful light filled family room!

The living room above and below is the dining room....

Her daughters room.....

Another of the DR....still waiting for a few more chairs.....and that is the table I found for her at a consignment shop!

Master bath.....

And a few more things that have finally come in!

Pretty jars above the fridge....

Benches covered.....

Below we had a pretty lumbar pillow made....waiting for the headboard!

I picked up this little rug and had a pillow made for this bed!  Along with the 2 shams.....

Spray painted these wall baskets white just for something different!

Close up of this pretty pillow!

And the crown jewel of this beautiful home is the new pool that was just recently finished.

It is basically a plunge pool.....and I think it's perfect!

Hope you enjoyed these updates.....more to come I promise.

We have had rain for a couple of days here in Atlanta but I understand that fall is coming right around the corner with cooler temps by the weekend!

Happy Tuesday

WINDOW TREATMENTS

Thanks for all the feedback on my recent install....and I know the most asked question is about the carpet.  Well....I wish I could give you the information.  Unfortunately they code the info on the back of the sample so I can't "shop" them....

The best thing you can do is go to a place where they sell carpet and show them the picture.  I am sure you can find the same goods.  It is 100% polyester.

I think someone wanted to know the color of the walls....BM Seapearl.  And the small table is from Currey and Co.  The upholstered furniture is from Charles Stewart and all covered in performance fabric.  The credenzas are from Universal Furniture.

Here I am again trying to crank out a post before I have to leave and walk "queenie".  If I was a better blogger I would do my post at night but hey.....my train of thought is crappy after working all day.

So we will keep it short and tight this AM.....

I have some pictures of window treatments that were installed at my project yesterday.  They haven't closed yet but it will be nice to have privacy on their first night in their new house....

This house is actually in my neighborhood and is another home built by Ladisic Fine Homes.  The architect was Linda MacArthur.

This is the large window in the master bathroom....but definitely needed some privacy.

And this is the master bedroom

Here is the outside view!

I chose a sheer and we doubled it for privacy.....

This shot was actually taken before they were dressed.....

In the master we are doing a double curtain.  Sheers for the daytime and then blackout for night!

This install took all of 5 hours.....with steaming and dressing them......

The rods are french returns which means they don't have finials and just return into the wall.

Since the homes are close in my neighborhood you need some privacy even during the day!

Into the foyer....

Again.....this will block the view of the house next door but still let in light!

These hadn't been steamed yet....but you get the picture:)

And......scene.

Dunzo.

Happy Halloween!  Some of my best childhood memories are Halloween.  I grew up in Myers Park, Charlotte and my Mom would dress up and decorate our garage like a haunted house and all the neighborhood kids would go through it that night!  This was back when you didn't buy costumes!   My Mom actually made every holiday a production.....long before it was "trendy"....

So long kids....
