RODOLFO CASTRO ARCHITECT

I got a call the other day from a client about doing a little updating in their dining room.  I helped with their remodel 2007 and it was published in Remodel Magazine [Better Homes and Gardens special interest publication].

Of course a few things have changed since then like a new baby.... which calls  a little more space.

This was at least 6 years ago and a many changes have already been made.  She had the whole house painted a soft white and recovered everything in light colors.

We started talking about the DR and then she mentioned that maybe it would be nice to have a little bigger deck.  You mean larger than 3 boards?  Right now it is about 4 by 4.

Oh boy....that got me going and the next thing she knew I was talking huge screened in porch....fireplace.....flat screen to watch college football......garage underneath.....

Yup.  I can spend your money people.

I know when I left...fluffing up the DR was the least of her thoughts.

This brings me to architects.  Before Pinterest.....there was Houzz. I discovered Rodolfo one day and was amazed at his gorgeous work.  [file away someday when I win lottery and can put second story on and make my neighbors backyard look like the ghetto].  I can be mean like that.

After thinking about it for a couple of days, I told her that I thought we might need an architect to help blend this "little" project with the house [and make sure that it is done right!]

I knew just who to call.

Check out some of his work.
Uh huh.

Castro Design Studio is a boutique Residential Design firm here in Atlanta.

Gorgeous.

Nice hallway people.

One hot damn kitchen.

Another monster.

Now check out some of the outdoor spaces that really rocked my world.
Are you feeling it now?

Those shutters flipped me out...love and want.
You why we got so excited?

When we met with him..... all "idea hell" breaks loose.  New window in DR.....garage...mud room.....whoa.....snap back jack.

Yup.

You all know how easy it is to get caught up in "fantasyland".

Anyway....we got him working on it and I am thrilled to be involved on this project.

AND the DR is still on the boards so I will keep you updated on all thoughts and decisions.

Tomorrow is part 5 of One Room Challenge.  Lord I will be pulling something out of my ass.....head down and swim....but I won't leave you hanging.

I met Rodolfo through the blog world, and have met him several times in person. Not only is he incredibly talented, but he is incredibly nice and kind too - and really understands what families need in their home in the 21st century.

Great profile, and loved seeing new images of his work!

I can't wait to see what you do with that cute couple's house...I loved that project. (Was it really 2007?)
I need to connect with Rodolfo myself...he is super-talented. That one project you showed--belonging to the Thrashers player--was something we were going to photograph, and then they moved.

Two kitchen islands!! One is for prep and the other....for decorating cakes? That's pretty cool. I want a cake decorating island.

I just texted porch images to husband on business trip ... He may never come home! Do you have room for me , five kids and small dog if he abandons us. After all it is kinda your fault for sharing these amazing images;0

I am jumping up and down..OMG what gorgeous spaces this genius does! Thanks for introducing me to his work. MC has no worries on this. We live in a community that has STRICT Architectural Guidelines that must be followed...the guidelines are all very mundane, allowing for little more than enlarging a terrace maybe a low sitting wall. Can't go over three feet with anything!! and guess what? MC is on this committe....he can rest! and I will be left to imagine they exist!!
Can't wait for tomorrow....Patty

holy crap, you're my kinda gal! I love to brainstorm one idea and have it turn into a gargantuan array of possibilities (seriously)! How cool is that! And Rodolfo certainly looks like your man for designing that outdoor space! His work rocks! Can't wait to see how this progresses and looking forward to your ORC tomorrow!

Ah! What a great project to work on. How fun it is to have clients come back for more, especially after 6 years. With that kind of magazine coverage, they'd be crazy not to. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress.

1) you make me laugh out loud on a regular basis and 2) I'm in love with this architect's work. Funny how certain designs just speak to you isn't it? That first kitchen photo with the flowers on the island is my dream right there…..and those outdoor spaces are incredible. How exciting for your client!!

I am simply green with envy - I found Rodolfo Castro's amazing outdoor designs online when we were planning a redo of our outdoor space that would include a covered area with outdoor fireplace. I had plans for those cool shutters and everything! Then the darn budget came into play and we had to just do the pavers now and wait on the covering and fireplace until later. I will live vicariously through your client!!
