YARD UPDATE

Just when you think everything is perfect....well not perfect cause that can not be achieved without some major lottery winnings....but you know perfect in my tiny little world....here comes a problema.  Translation: problem.

We noticed the drains on the patio and 2 other places were backing up badly....well more like a small wading pool.

Yup.  Not good.

So this was my husbands idea of a temporary solution.

Um..... no.
ayfkm?
Oh hell no.
Ghetto.

The ink was not even dry on the last check I wrote them....but I get the guys back out to fix it.....yes I know after it was all "pine strawed and pretty".

Dig it all up.

And then instead of putting the flagstone back down like before.... it made sense to repeat the same treatment.  It will be easier to get to those pesky buggers next time.

Before.

And what it looks like now.

Since there is a slope here they added these boulders for steps....my favorite part.

Now the problem is how to get a lawnmower up and over all this.

It's always something isn't it?  So I finished paying for the other landscaping bill and boom.

I have another one.

OK....I am kinda excited to finally have a little makeover to post about.

Not today but soon.....

The before.
I did this bedroom about 12 years ago.....who keeps stuff that long?  It's shocking to me.

I persuaded her it was time for a little refresh....but damn she has gotten just a little opinionated since this room was done.

And.... she went and got married so now I got 2 people trying to show me they can do my job.

Think I will go to work with them this week and take over their office.  Show them how to do do things.....just sayin.

Stay tuned....

Happy freaking Monday.

MY YARD

Hellooooooo?  Anyone there?  Yeah I kind of fell of the "blogwagon" as they say.

After all it's summer and no one reads blogs right?

I hope y'all had mucho celebration last weekend with friends, family, food and drinks with little umbrellas.

I was deep into supervising the backyard makeover and Lord did I go over budget.  I am a "broke girl" and will not be buying cute summer sandals any time soon.

Let's get to a few before and after shots.

Here is the front yard.  All of this was planted about 20 years ago except the boxwoods [which these 3 have a worm right now that I am busy trying to kill!].

By by.....

I put 3 of the large boxwoods in front with 3 smaller ones in a half circle and in the middle is a white Camilla.  Hopefully they will get bigger:)  Then Lenten Roses and assorted ferns.

Try not to look at the grass....they had to dig up a trench to fix the lamp post.  Who am I kidding....it's moss cause I have very little sun in my front yard!

This side was a hot mess....

After
I moved all the Yew over to this side.

So much better.....

Of course it never ends.....I need a new sidewalk so I have a reason to start saving again....

The base of that huge tree!

On to the back yard...

So overgrown....believe it or not there is a gate back there!

See...all cleared out.

And then my vision....
A path.

From the patio....

Me: "So much better....as my husband said....a path to nowhere".

In the fall....a shade garden under the tree right?

Another before...

And after....

Before....
I took out the roses....they were leggy and sparse.

Added another boxwood and a planter that was hidden way in the back yard.

One more before....

After

Now some random shots to put you to sleep....

OK....wake up!

I know....you are either into landscaping/gardening or not...

Of course here in Atlanta it will get too hot to be outdoors so I can stand at my window and look at it:)

Can you believe it is Wednesday already?

This weekend is the Designer Tag sale at Westside Market with 7 designers [including me] who will be selling their "extra stuff".  I'll have things from my shabby chic days and every other style I've tried along the way:)

So come on down and say Hi!

THIS AND THAT

A few things to cover today.....nothing earth shattering of course because we all know that Wednesday is the ORC reveal and I am sure it will be a "kumbaya" moment for all.

I was in Florida last week for all the rain.  Yup....21" in 24 hours.  Pretty much from Tuesday to Thursday night we got pounded.

I was bored.

And I kept thinking of all the things I could be doing in the DR for the ORC.  Now...I will be scurrying like a honey badger.

While we were gone it also rained in Atlanta and the planting I did a couple of weeks ago is starting to fill out.

I still love the stripe umbrella from Ballard Designs [from last year] and I am trying to get one more year out of my outdoor furniture.  It is 10 years old and even though it cleans up nicely with my trusty power washer if I linger on one spot too long... I get a small hole.  Whoops.

In other news... for some reason ADAC selected me to give a tour.

I wish I could say this was open for everybody and we could have a big ole party, but it is only open to the trade.  If you are a designer and don't use the resources at ADAC...then you are missing out on a heck of a lot of good stuff.   I am not going to sugar coat this...please...someone show up:)

Next in this lineup of riveting topics is a little purchase at HomeGoods.

I picked up these 2 horns and decided to use them as bookends.  Oh HG's....why you gotta be about 500 ft from my house.

ORC update:
Last week I complained about my door knobs not showing up and then [like they heard me] ...ding dong...run to the door...

I'm in love:)

I am about to get crunk here so I can pull it together for Wednesday.
