THIS AND THAT

It's me again.....8 years of stories.....blubbering on about design....fashion......dogs and my life.  Like what I have to say is so darn interesting.

I don't kid myself.....it's not..... yet I continue on with it like I am addicted to the purge of my life on these pages.  Maybe that is a thing?  The need to overshare:)

Let's discuss the week.

I've been moving forward with the House Beautiful project.  Sometimes I have to check myself as to how the heck I got here but hey.....it happened and I am doing my best to muddle through with all this color [totally not in my lane] trying to keep it from looking like your kids finger painting hanging on the fridge with magnets.

Matthew Quinn is working his magic on the kitchen and it is going to be a stunner!  Check out where the sink is going....pretty nice view for washing dishes:)

Love this window on the front of the house.

The girls bedroom has a space above the entrance which I am very excited about.  The back wall gets some colorful wallpaper and the ceiling underneath with have planks painted a pretty color....

This is the bath tile on the floor with the vanity painted a soft gray...white Silestone countertops and white subway tile around the tub....

The boys bathroom below....also with Silestone and the wood vanity will be stained a dark ebony.

I had to reselect for the laundry room because we couldn't come up with a countertop.

So I decided to slide in a little black and white since HB won't be photographing this area.....I can be cheeky like that.

These are the colors I am working with on the main level....in the furnishings.  Are you scared for me?

Before dinner last night with the HB crew I was over at my favorite house.....This courtyard just kills me.

I had this large painting commissioned for a project from Scott Kerr and I can't wait to get it hung!

Bought this cute straw bag from Target.

Tried to push pink on the showhouse.....but no go:(

Saturday night I was gifted a table at Chastain Park to see Harry Connick Jr and y'all it was a magical night.  If you haven't seen him make it a point....he is such an entertainer and very dreamy....

And last night at the HB dinner the subject of color came up  and silly me said something like "khaki is a color".

The laughter was deafening.

Obviously I'm clueless....ha ha.

THIS AND THAT

I forgot about the randomness that goes with "this and that"......it's a pass for just dumping all kinds of pictures and info onto a post with pure abandon!

So today I will bounce all over the place and leave you spinning for the weekend.

Let's start with a kitchen reno....

You remember the before right?

Everything was going smoothly until the painting....I knew this part was going to be rough for her because it's pretty hard living through the inconvenience of all the plastic etc.....

But she made it with my encouragement....and wine of course :)

These Silestone countertops called Eternal Calacatta Gold are my new fav!

This kitchen faucet Grohe K7

Moving on....to my Manchester project.

Scored this awesome art form Scott Kerr at Scott's Market!  The amazing part is I hung it with D rings and no level.  Only one extra hole :)

Trying to accessorize this single girls bedroom with some blush.....

Her sweet puppy "Coco Chanel"

Back downstairs we started this gallery wall in the kitchen!

We placed this chair in the kitchen for a cozy spot to enjoy a cup of coffee in the mornings!  I have a spot like this and it's the best.
Small table and floor lamp from West Elm....

And hello gorgeous black and cream blanket from Williams and Sonoma Home [friends and family weekend]

And.....there is a new development down in Fayetteville Georgia that has really caught my eye!

Pinewood Forest is a large planned urban development and the homes are being curated by Dana Lynch Design who oozes talent.

I took these shots from their Instagram page [Pinewood Forest Design Group]

The first few are the new sales center...hubba hubba

I'm interested.....Maybe a day trip soon!

And no "this and that" post is complete without a picture of Cami....

So all of you special people have a wonder Thanksgiving.....I'm headed to Tucson to visit some family.

KITCHEN RENOVATION

I have 2 bathrooms and 1.5 kitchens in the works.  The .5 is just new countertops and lights but that still counts right?

The other kitchen is the subject today and it is one I did in 2006!  Actually it was a whole house renovation at the time.  Lisa Mowry remember this one?

I think it's kind of amazing that it is still relevant today.....although they are ready for a new look!

I had to take these from the magazine it was published in!

White with subway tile and wood accents....along with shaker cabinet doors which are so popular now!  Damn how did I know all that....ha ha.

The real problem was the columns which were purely for looks.....not structural.....not really sure why we did that!  It was time for them to go.

Here are some of the things we are addressing.....

We are cutting the island down to counter height and bring it out 12" so it can be a functional place to dine.

Time for new countertops and painting out the island white.

This new Silestone is hot off the market!  It is called Calacatta Gold and comes in a pretty "suede finish".

New white backsplash.

These cabinets were originally painted SW Creamy so they had a yellow feeling to them.  We are going with BM White Dove [duh my fav]

Here are some progress pictures.....

Since we only needed 2 cabinets it was just as cost effective to build new ones rather than building them up.

We had an electrician come to widen the location of the pendants since the columns were gone....and of course we are changing out the lights!

To these from Rejuvenation.

Shelves are in and cabinets higher.....new doors being made.

As with any renovation project there are always issues.....the guy who came to template the countertops has some doubts about getting them out in this area.....stay tuned!

Changing out the sink [although not sure the new one will fit so stay tuned....crikey] and faucet.....

To my fav Grohe faucet

Here is the original wet bar area.....

Which of course is also getting a facelift!

Took down the cabinets.....adding shelves and changing the backsplash to this....

Pretty huh!

Taking out the sink and cabinet below to add a Scotsman ice maker that makes pellet ice!

Apparently that type of ice is all the rage....who knew:)

I am kind of excited to see this one finished....and lucky for me my clients are so darn chill.....which is kind of important with this kind of renovation.

Let's see if we are still friends when it's all said and done....yikes.

And there you have it....gotta get everything under control before Thanksgiving.

Starting to sweat.
