A LITTLE BEFORE AND AFTER

Testing.....taps mike!  Anyone here?  I know....I will try to explain my absence at the bottom!

But I do have some project updates to share with you and I just checked back to see my post and realize it has been since August.  Crikey.....I am so lame.

So I think we left off talking about this project.  A man cave/billard room combined.  It is a basement that has stairs coming down the middle so on one side is the pool table and the other side a den.

Above is the plan.....the walls were painted Sherwin Williams: Slate tile.

I thought it would be fun to step outside the box and do a plaid sofa.....kind of take it into a 70's vibe!

I think we were all underwhelmed when it arrived because the walls were still "builder basement white"....It is the Lee Industries Apartment sofa.

But that is why you hire a designer because I could see the vision and knew it would be amazing when the walls were dark!

In the room with the pool table there are 2 niches which was a great place for a ledge for drinks.  One side was bigger so we were actually able to use some counter stools.

Here is the stone they selected....very cool!

There was also a small wall that was the perfect place for a banquette....see my inspo above.  I know it does not look that cool but just wait!

And here are the spaces all painted.  The new sofa looks great and of course there was a minor snafu.

First time in 30 years that I ordered some chairs with the wrong fabric.  UGH......it was the worst.

I couldn't decide what to do....try and sell them and order 2 more or order the correct fabric and have them recovered.

Meanwhile I said I could zhush the existing ones up until the new ones arrived.....

I decided to get the fabric and have recovered....

I also suggested to them to change the color of the felt on the pool table....I can be persuasive when I need to be:)

Ordered these sconces on Wayfair!

I found this vintage etagere at my fav antique store Antiques and Beyond....

Rose and I worked our magic using mostly what they had.  I bought a book end, a bowl and the sculpture.

Here is what this wall looked like before...we moved the TV to another wall.....

Finally the chairs came in....

They are swivel recliners!

And the pillows really helped to bring all of the colors together!

The wall clock was his Moms......I think he said that she once tried to sell it in a yard sale and it did not sell!

We also kept the coffee table...as it worked just fine!

The TV and drink ledge was installed.....and you can see the pretty felt color on the pool table!

Here is the before of the pool table area....

And the after!

Now remember this wall.....

Well looky looky.....

I had this built and it turned out so good and was the perfect showstopper for this space!

They are thrilled!  And....so am I :)

Now...I am really sorry for not blogging on a regular basis.  I feel like normally when I used to blog I did not have a trillion things to do as a single person.  Just the basics of everyday life sometimes overwhelm me....and I do not like to complain because I  know many people have it worse than me.

So it's just that and I do miss it.  Hard to believe we are in the holiday season already.

Today is Sunday and I was going to re-arrange my guest bedroom but realized it would just be impossible to do by myself!  Then I realized that Cami needs the bed to stay where it is because that is where she sits when I am gone waiting for me to come home.  So that is why I decided to blog....you can thank Cami:)

BEFORE AND AFTER

OK....so I have a small before and after for you today.  You might have seen on Instagram but I can give you a few details....and lets face it.....you like a pretty picture but in the end you want to know the why and how...am I right?

A long time client wanted some things zhushed before having company.  Oh...and one other small detail....I had about 6 weeks to get it done!

I already posted one bedroom a few months ago so there was one more room and some shelves to do.  I am always up for the task of styling shelves!

Let's start with the before.  I did not change out the bed, lamps, nightstands or the rug!

Here is the after.  I ordered the bench.  It is by Uttermost but I changed out the fabric.  That is an easy fix for sure. It added some nice pattern at the foot of the bed.

New pillows [custom] and a bedspread from HomeGoods that warmed it up!

I had her take most of the things off the shelves.....and was happy that they  were adjustable!

We [ Rose] took one out completely to give some breathing room!  Propped up some books he had and added the baskets at the bottom for texture.

A few HG's items completed the look....

The chest did not have anything on it so we found a few photographs that were already there and hung them.  Then a faux fern and some books.....

In the other room I had already had this small entrance wallpapered but had not done anything to the shelves!  I had her take most of it out and it got a little makeover!

So much better don't cha think?

Small changes and big impact.  I am always up for that challenge:)

Stay tuned for the reveal of the family room and guest room.

Also I have a really fun project coming up and I am excited to say that we painted the walls green!

Before

 After

This is the wallpaper that is going on the unpainted part over the cabinets....

This one might take a while since we are ordering furniture but I will keep you posted on the progress!

Alrighty then...Rose and I are leaving for Highpoint tomorrow so stay tuned for lots of stories and my fav design trends!

A SMALL INSTALL

Taps on the microphone....hopefully some of you are still out there:)

I know....I often wonder why I can't get my post written in a timely manner anymore.  I hesitate to say this because my family and friends will be all crazy and start calling.....but....I do think it is mild depression.  In fact I think I have mentioned it before but it really does affect my work and just day to day living.

Take procrastination and multiply it by 10....everything seems to take so much effort and I can easily ignore things which is not good when people have hired you to get it done!

Ever since my sister died last summer [it is coming up on a year] I have felt this way.  I can say it comes and goes and I know time can help but as I say...."one day at a time"....

The exciting news is that I did get a small install done!  Yay....alert the press!

It is my "modern glam" client and I have to say I am proud of how this one is coming along!

On my last post I showed you a few updates....and this one will reflect the bookcases and pillows along with a few other accessories!

Here is the before....when she bought the place.  This was the previous owners things.  She wanted to rip down the shelves but I talked her into painting them because I knew she would like them better....and guess what....I was right:)

Pats self on the back!

Here is what the sectional and bookcases looked like before we started!

I did have a little "chat" with her before I started buying things.  She wanted a lot of picture frames of her family and equestrian objects.  I persuaded her to let me do a gallery wall of family pictures in the hallway and I said yes....I would mix in some "horsey stuff".  BUT....I was not going to make it a "theme"!

We came to a good place and Rose and I got started shopping.  [Rose is the best].

We are still waiting for a fixture to replace the fan.... but I am so happy with how they turned out!

Really most was thrifted except for the white jar at the top!

Man I love doing shelves!  And the pillows really came together on the sectional.  Waiting for the curtains to arrive which should happen in the next 2 weeks!

There is also a chair coming in the above empty space which has been shipped!  Hallelujah....

The bedroom is coming along but still working on a few things!

How I made myself sit down and do this is a small miracle...but baby steps right!

Oh yeah I had so much fun hanging out with Mary Ann from
Classic Casual Home and Kim from Northern California Style Thursday and Friday night.  They were in town for a DIY conference and we went to dinner!

You should read both of their blogs....so much good stuff!

You guys have a great Sunday and hopefully I can get everything I need to get done next week....finished!
