THIS AND THAT

Here's the thing...I wrote this one Monday and totally forgot to post yesterday.  I guess it's official...my brain is going.

I know I just did a "this and that" post but....this one is more of a "what I've been up to" post.

What a great relaxing few days.....we had friends come in from out of town....ha ha.... they live about 25 miles away but we had a party with some mutual friends and they did not want to drive back and forth.

I am sure you might have heard about a little 10K race here in Atlanta called the Peachtree Road Race.

Well I did not partake in it but my friend did so his wife and I went up to the start to watch with Cami.

As we were walking up to the corner a policeman pulled up to pet my girl....he was a dog lover [even knew what kind of dog she was!] and pulled out some treats....so sweet.  That little delay caused us to miss seeing him run by but we knew that this was more important!

We walked the long way back thru my neighborhood to the my house and put in a total of  2 miles.

Then we decided to walk to our friends house 3 miles away to meet her husband [they live near Piedmont Park which is where the race ends].

If you are keeping track we are at 5 miles now!

I love this hydrangea tree....must get one before I die:)

They have a cat on a leash....new to me :)

Then we walked back!  Uh huh.  Total of 8.7 miles for the day.  Oh yeah by the way it was about 94 degrees.

That day [the 4th] we had the party at friends around 5.

So much fun!

They stayed until Sat afternoon....we were deep into watching The Good Fight on CBS All Access.  It is one of the best shows....the writing is top notch.

We had lunch at a new place called Little Rays [a Ford Fry restaurant].

I love this hand painted floor.....

If you are local give it a try!

Let's see what else.....
Before all of the above I was over at ADAC on Tuesday with a friend and we strolled into Romo Atlanta to check out some new fabrics.

These are all by Villa Nova and so cute!

Some of them come in wallpaper....

It's such a cute collection for kids!

Speaking of fabrics....Harbor Theory reached out to me about their fabrics and sent me some samples....check them out below...

Cuteness right?

I also fell in love with this fabric combo...who's in?  Call me and this can be your room....hahaha.
Save me from spending my money on all of these!

The last thing I will leave you with is this....
My friend Pam Sessions [who is Hedgewood Homes] completed the pool at Manchester Homes and I am in love with it.....so I now need these floors on my patio [husband....call the heavy equipment we have earth to move].

We could also throw in an oval window or 2.

It's market week in Atlanta so hopefully I will have pics of all the good stuff I see!

ATLANTA HOMES AND LIFESTYLES

Sometimes you open a magazine and there is a hushed feeling that comes over you.  This happened to me recently when I saw this article in Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles featuring Ryan Hughes home.

What a story of how it takes a village to create a masterpiece.

Hopefully you remember how I have talked about my friend Pam Sessions from Hedgewood Homes and a community called Manchester .  I have another friend who bought in this same pocket neighborhood here in Buckhead, Atlanta.

Here is the story....see if you can stay with it.....

Ryan was Pam's intern way back.....
He worked at a showroom at ADAC.
About 9 years ago he opened his own showroom in Midtown.

Fast forward to about 3 or so years ago....moving his showroom to ADAC and people it's a doozy.

In a really good way.  No....in the best way.  Just walking through the doors gives me a rush of inspiration that is hard to explain.  Cutting edge lighting, furniture and accessories.

The story is that he called on some of the most talented in the industry.....friends of his.... to give him the best of the best....

He called on Bobby McAlpine to redraw the floor plan moving the dining area to the back of the space.

Susan Ferrier to help with the furniture arrangement....

Nashville designer Chad James gave great design advice and designer Barbara Westbrook helped with antiques  giving the space some always needed patina....

Y'all.....if you know me then you will see how much I love the neutral tones of this space and all of the texture.

And of course there are glorious pops of color to keep things from getting too neutral....[can that be haha]

This Kelly Wearstler wallpaper had me so hard.  I'm not gonna lie and with touches of gray and cream I just about died.

The moody tones of the guest room has me hankering to change up some things around "casa Sherika".

If you haven't been to his showroom I have a few shots from a recent stroll through it...

This light fixture.....

Wallpaper!

I'm in love with the concept of this coffee table....

This Zak and Fox wallpaper.

Look....this is definitely High Design.....I get it.

But.....there is so much inspiration and as a designer this is definitely what I want.....a spark to help step outside of the comfort zone of what we do.  I am here to push if you will let me.

Crikey one week until Christmas....WTH.....

ANOTHER PROJECT UPDATE

I mean really.....what is better than a 3 day weekend right? I did something that I have been wanting to do for months.....clean out my closet.

Yup.  All of my shoes had finally ended up on the floor and clothes were barely clinging to hangers.

I think I scared Cami because I just went in there and started tossing shoes out the closet door to the floor.

3 hours later....success.  Then after reading on Kathy's blog The Good Life of Design I decided to trying selling some things on Poshmark.

We will see how that goes as it's just another thing I have to figure out and keep up with!

I have some updates on my friend Melissa's new house which posted about  here.

She is about a month away from closing and the decisions we made last January are finally coming together.  When you meet with the builder to pick things out I have one word of advice.

OK.....2 words.......Stay neutral.

AND.....don't roll your eyes but we stayed with mostly #blackandwhite finishes for the reason that I'm me...... and thats what I like:)

All kidding aside it's always classic and when you go to sell.....it won't look dated.  #truth

So here is a picture of the kitchen....

Backsplash isn't  grouted yet but taking the tile to the ceiling was money well spent [upcharge].

The honed black granite....

The honed Carrara marble on the island.

The day we made our selections.

So excited!

This is the powder room right off the kitchen.

You remember we are using the Lindsay Cowles wallpaper....and circa lighting sconces.

I ordered this cool mirror from Four Hands so I can't wait for this baby to come together.

This is the main entry with a very small foyer.  I had picked a chandelier [that I thought would work] but guess what?  There's not enough clearance so we had to move it to the top of the stairs.

Whew....that was dicy.
It will go here instead with 10 ft ceilings but definitely shortened.

Here are 3 flush mounts I sent her [for the foyer] and with price consideration we chose the one in the middle from Shades of Light.

The railings have the same stain as the floors.  So I have been looking at carpet runners.

Here are the sconces going up the stairs....The color of all the doors is SW Dorian Gray.  The Thibaut grasscloth wallpaper is going up the second step of stairs [3 floors].  This first one is wool and the most $$$.

This one is more reasonable and probably won't show as much dirt.

And.....this is the most appealing because it is indoor/outdoor and will look good against the ebony floors.

I'll keep you posted. [all samples from Myers Carpet]

Upstairs bathroom.....

Here is the wall the TV is going on which will also get the grass cloth....then to the right is the other set of stairs.

And this pretty chandelier for the master closet!

The master bedroom plan.....

Master bath

Hedgewood Homes always nails the landscaping for their projects!

And thats a wrap......

Have a great short week!
