DESIGN PLAN FOR A 3 YEAR OLD

I feel like I dodged a bullet y'all.....I took Cami to the specialist on Wednesday and just walking into that place brought back memories.

What I mean is that I have left there twice before without a dog..... in tears.

So to get good news for a change was just what I needed.  They said her heart is fine and it is common to hear a slight heart murmur in a large very excited dog.  I didn't mind paying a chunk of $$$ for that information.

So it looks like this peach pit....poop eating crazy girl is OK:)

It's no secret that I don't have little kids running around so when I have to do research on putting together a little boys room.....I gotta dig deep y'all.

Here is the plan.  First thing I did was add some interest to an alcove where the dresser is going.
The whole room was white with beige carpet and it begged for these stripes.

Then I looked for a dresser that could stand the test of time....he is only 3 after all!

This Pottery Barn number is perfect and I found this mirror to possibly go over it.

I am always happy to throw in a little industrial.

These sheets [because he loves trucks] are adorable with some basic navy bedding so when he is tired of trucks we don't have to pitch the whole plan!

OK...here is where it gets crazy.  I discovered
The Land of Nod.  Hey no judging....why would I be shopping there huh?

What can't you find for kids.....I mean I want this for myself.....

The cutest!

I was looking for storage ideas and it was overload....

 I liked everything I saw!

Of course I love this idea I found on Pinterest [Crazy Wonderful] because it feeds my texture loving heart.  Baskets on the wall.

I headed over to Minted and found these cute pictures of trucks!
 One

Put it together and we are almost there!

It's a start and decisions still need to be made but We have to hurry since there is a new little boy coming into the family soon:)

I'm outta here....off to Scott's today.  I feel like I have an extra spring in my step getting such good news!

DASH AND ALBERT RUGS

Monday is described as the day of the week between Sunday and Tuesday.  Whatever Wikipedia.

I have another description of it and it ain't pretty :)

Especially the Monday after vacation.....which can pretty much be like hitting a brick wall.....sobering you up quickly.......  like "get the heck out of that vacation fog" cause life is about to rain down on you in a "bad ass Mr T" kind of way.

No worries....I got this.

Stripe rugs.  We love them.

If you have not heard of Dash and Albert then you are gonna love this.  They have been around since 2003.

Take a look.....

I just got their new summer catalog.  Wowza.

Pink chevron goodness.

Stripey stripeness. In every color.
Most of them come in 2.5 by 8 ft  runners also.....

Can you imagine this kitchen without the rug?

Or this hallway?

This one is from their new summer collection.
And this...yellow and pink and mint.

Poufs!
Last summer I did a porch for a client and used one of their indoor/outdoor rugs as my inspiration for the space.

I was over there the other day and the rug still looks new.

I also have one in my kitchen and when it gets dirty I can take that bad boy out and hose it off.

On the plus side their prices are great.  Go here and pick one out to brighten up your room for summer.

Colorful stripe rugs are the new pillows....as in how to change up yo room.

A few people asked me about the size of my foyer stripes....they are 10" wide and there are 4 black ones and 5 white ones.  My white is BM White Dove and the black is just Home Depot black paint.  Nothing fancy.

The paint color for the stripes in my nephews dining room was Sherwin Williams Anonymous 7046.

Don't let Monday get you down.....

A WINNER AND SOME DIY ARTWORK

Drumroll please......the winner of the $100.00 gift certificate from Rejuvenation Lighting is Melanie Thompson from My Sweet Savannah!  I know she is going to be excited to either design a light of her own or just pick out a cool accessory for her gorgeous home.  Huge thanks  for all of your comments!

If you follow me on Instagram [sherryhdesigns] then you saw me post this picture

My sister and I were trying to think of some cheap art for my nephews dining room.

CHEAP.

We went to Michaels for a tablet of drawing paper and a tube of black acrylic paint.  That was the easy part.

Coming up with what to do with them took a little more thought.   I wish I could say it was my genius idea.

She just threw some paint on the paper and then put another piece on top.  Rorschach.  Ink Block.  Easy Peasy.

We did a few.  It did take a week for them to totally dry cause we might have put it on a little thick...

Off to Ikea for some Ribba frames.

Instead of black we got the wood colored ones.  Before I show you what they look like ....here is the DR before.

My sister got it in her head that she wanted to paint stripes.  I on the other hand was thinking.....that is a lot of work....how about we just hang some art and be done with it.  #lostinterestafterthebedroom

But she wouldn't let it go.  Every time I turned around "stripes".  I felt like I was being water boarded.

We had gotten this table from West Elm at the outlet store.

For mere pennies I might add.  Then my nephew took the wind out of our balloon.  He closed his wallet.  The nerve.  So we had to get really crafty.

This rug that I used to have in my bedroom and gave to my sister found it's way to his DR.

These chairs that I've had for 20 years got painted.  They have been red, white, yellow and now black.

Then I found some custom linen curtains at Goodwill for $12.00.  I couldn't believe it...I NEVER score at GW.

So I caved on the stripes.....just can't say no to family right?

My sister painted the area above the moulding white.

We knocked them out in 2 hours....I measured and taped and she painted.

The curtains got hung....

So...if you are looking for a perfectly staged after picture...then you might be pissed cause it hasn't happened yet.  With no budget to speak of we have to wait to find the perfect items.....might have to revive my old career of dumpster diving.  #hopenotdirtyjob

BUT......here are the pictures of the art work....

I'm thinking these DIY people are on to something.  If I only had more time......

Mixing mid-century [table] with the chippendale [chairs] made me feel pretty renegade.  But dang....I was liking it with the stripes, modern art, and traditional rug.  Watch out Angie Hranowsky

Jus fooling......

I kind of wanted them for myself but we have plenty of paint and paper left:)

Gotta go and send Melanie her email about winning.  My sister really wanted to get another light but it would have been fishy if I announced her as the winner right....you guys would have so been on to me.....

Start the week off right....make a list and get it done.
