ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

Happy 4th to everyone out there!

Tomorrow morning there is this little 10K called the Peachtree Road Race.  I think up until a couple of years ago it was the largest 10K in the country.  It started in 1970 with 110 runners, and they had 60,000 runners last year.

No, I am not running in it....basically because I don't like the stress of trying to get a number....OK...that is a lie.  I'm not running because it is ALWAYS so hot this time a year.  There's more....you have to get up so dang early...there are way too many people...blaa...blaa...blaa.

I do have some friends who will be spending the night [the start of the race is very near my house] so they can just walk to the starting line.  I will cheer from the road...I can be such a supporter sometimes :)

Back to design business.  The One Room challenge.

I am going to show you the fabrics that are already in the room.

...She has a  sofa out of the brown, curtains-toile, cream-chairs and the blue fabric to the left are some pillows.
Her style is obviously very neutral. I am going to add to these.....

Right up my alley for sure.  I am thinking along the lines of Mrs. Howard.

One of Phoebe's rooms.......I think without the wood pieces...it would be cold.  My client has a touch of black furniture in her room already.....so we are good.

I like this room, because it  has a few splashes of turquoise.  It helps draws the eye around the room.  To see more pictures of this gorgeous room....go here.  You won't be disappointed.

This home was designed by Gauthier-Stacy.  Everything is pretty neutral except the rug.  Love the stripe chairs as they bring a little whimsey into this very traditional room.

One more inspiration photo from Mrs. Howard.  Even though most of the room is very monochromatic adding the dark blue lamps  kind of shakes up the room...."for a Phoebe kind of way" :)

These are all classic, timeless rooms, that will still look good 10-15 years from now.

I am hoping to add some modern art to keep things from looking too predictable. Below are the other talented challengers.....in case you need a break today from all of the festivities!

Lauren - The Cottage Mix
Lindsay - Everything LEB
Barbara - Hodge:Podge
Tiffany - Living Savvy
Jessie - Mix & Chic
Danylle - Nana Moon
Jennifer - The Pink Pagoda
Emily - Rue de Emily
Whoops....I left one out: Lindsay from
Sadie and Stella

On another note....my friend Maria's  niece painted these pictures.  After I saw them, I asked permission to show them on my blog.  She has just finished her freshman year at Clemson....

I think they are so cute!

How cute would they be in a "big girls" bedroom!   They are both 11x14 oil on canvas.  If you are interested in purchasing them [125.00 each] let me know....cause we can get them to you pronto!
You never know...she may be famous one day :)

{Maria, Dee Ann, and Francie....you can not buy these....unless of course you want to start a bidding war.....in that case let the games begin!!}

Sha Patriotic.....

Happy 4th Sherry. I am with you ..Watch the race..Very smart thinking.
I adore the fabrics you have chosen. I would love them all in my home, every one of them!
The first inspiration picture is one of my favorite rooms. It was the designed with the inspiration from THE popular movie "Something's Gotta Give" home in the Hamptons. My all time favorite space! But the other rooms are also fabulous. I can't wait to see YOUR room.
I also love the "girl" paintings. They have a special touch of sophistication! Not only perfect for an adult girl, but great in a powder room!
Have fun watching...will there be a little wine with that?

So pretty, but I love how you said those KARAZAY blue lamps shake it up in the neutral scheme. She'll love it. Can't wait to see more

My daughter and son in law are in the race. She did not prep for it and will probably be sorry. He always works out since he is a cop and part of s.w.a.t.
Can't wait to see the room reveal.
No festivities here. I am painting. What else would I do? We will go see the fireworks tonight at the mall of Ga.

Happy 4th!

Love the peacefulness of the rooms. The original art work is wonderful! They are great for a dressing room any age. The running... yeah I agree.... not so much.

That is nice of you to cheer them on in the race. I think I would say, I'll have coffee ready for you when you're done. Great rooms to use for inspiration. Those pictures are fab, and they are probably gone by now. Happy 4th.

Those are actually very cool! They have energy, and movement, and good color! They're just simple enough to leave something to the imagination... all that makes a great piece! Your niece has talent. I mean, offered in the right place, say a gallery, they would be worth alot more than the asking price...!

Those canvases are precious! And you know what... I have NEVER run in the Peachtree, even though I've lived in Atlanta all of my life. Maybe it needs to go on my bucket list for next year! : ) Or maybe you and I can just meet for a bloody mary and cheer all of the racers on... now THAT sounds like a good idea!

It is a beautiful plan and I'm sure you're going to make them so happy!
Stay cool, this heat is getting to us here in Va as well. Our pool is bath water.
Take care-Nancy
