SOME GOOD NEUTRALS FROM POTTERY BARN

Y'all....yesterday I took Cami to a new grooming place.

Why?

Well I have taken all of my dogs to Pet Smart and this guy has been there for 10 years and all the sudden the last time I called he was gone.  So.....I just booked with a random person and Cami nipped her.

Uh oh.  Trouble.

So this time I called around and booked a new place.....[spread the bites around] and
the lady was SO FRIENDLY on the phone so I was excited!

When I drove up I thought the building was abandoned..... it was in such bad shape.....like the sign was down and when I went in it was dirty and this weird guy came out of a back room tucking in his shirt.  Ewwwww.

No sign of the friendly woman!

Me texting my friend who used to own a doggy day care facility.

I freaked out when I got back in the car and the whole way home I wanted to turn around and go back.

I was a wreck the whole day....seriously I wanted to go pick her up but I couldn't think of a reason to tell them....and got nothing done.

Long story short when I went back to get her at 3 and the nice lady was there and she looked perfect!

They even put a pretty bow on her:)

Whew.....

OK on to design!

I was looking for some pillows on Pottery Barn and ran across some pretty good stuff.....mostly neutrals because well....that is usually on my agenda!

Starting with pillows.....of course.

And some great accessories!

Look at these amazing table lamps....

And I never met a black lamp I didn't like!

These light fixtures aren't cheap but occasionally they have 30% off lighting and then they are a deal!

I love this line below as all I could think about  was staining them a dark ebony.....but hey even in this light color they have a "Scandinavian look"

And this piece below....not crazy about the slats but you could load it with books or baskets!
The bench below caught my eye!

And this little number below....
Yes please!

And these 2 mirrors below....

Well....thoughts?  Listen PB gets a bad rap sometimes and for sure I HATE when I go to a clients house and they hand me the catalog saying "I love all of this"....because I want to give them a curated look but y'all know that I love to mix the high and low!

So...I called my doc and got some medicine and after 2 days I am not feeling much better....but hey I am impatient so we will see.  I am tired of coughing and peeing.

Last night Rose and I went to Ballard Designs to celebrate their 100th podcast.....guess what I was number 4....haha.

The dress is from Target by their Prologue collection and I can't find it online anymore.  But the belt is this one....
The lightweight coat is an old Eileen Fisher [4 years].

OK.....get started on Friday!

SHOPPING ON OVERSTOCK

Since my husband has been retired he does a lot of the grocery shopping.  Of course that can be a bad thing sometimes because his love of a bargain can sway his decisions.  Like toilet paper.  For crying out loud if he comes home with single ply toilet paper....no wait it's less that single ply....it's like some 3rd world country stuff.....I can't even.  I'll boil it up for dinner.

Husbands....gotta love em.

So the other day I was searching the wide world web and came across some pictures showing a project where bloggers had put together rooms using everything Overstock!  Further research made me aware that this happened in 2017.....so pardon me while I post on this old news....

Jenny Komenda, Cassandra LaValle, Kirsten Grove, Ashley Wilson and Dabito each flexed their design muscle to plan a space and then Overstock implemented it.

The house was pretty awesome....

My favorite.

So that got me thinking.....
I took to Overstock and put together some rooms....very loosely of course:)

Using neutrals...of course:)

Using the same sofa.....

art, tree, [I love this one] rug, coffee table, light, throw, pillow, pillow, pillow

I usually go to Wayfair first or All Modern when searching....but I was quite impressed with some of the goods I discovered!

Sorry this is a little late but I had to go workout and come back and finish.  Searching and tagging all this stuff takes forever right?

Anyway....hope you can use a thing or 2.

PROJECT DESIGN: EASY STEPS TO STYLE YOUR SHELVES

I'm coming in hot here y'all.....trying to squeak this post out before the deadline!

Today along with Mary Ann from Classic Casual Home, Kris from Driven By Decor, Annie from Most Lovely Things, and Cindy from Rough Luxe  are getting down and dirty about an issue that I think all of you might be interested in!

I don't think it's any big secret that styling bookshelves can cause anxiety.... trying to get the perfectly curated "undecorated"....like "I just threw this stuff together" look can break even the best of us!

Oh I know we make it seem like it's easy and when I took everything off mine the other day to prepare for this post you can believe I took a quick snapshot in case the "styling well" ran dry.

It's all good and I think I might even leave them like this for a hot minute.

Let's start from the beginning.....

Before
This was over a year and a half ago....and I gotta tell you....I was pretty happy with how "minimal" they looked.

But I decided that you guys want to see how it's done....my theory behind the scenes....of how I get started.

Before......

My bookshelves are "fixed"....I can't adjust them.  Would I change that.....maybe but I really don't like all the small holes on the side so that's the trade off!

I cleared these babies and it was definitely a good time to dust also!  Whew.  Possibly phase one of "project spring clean".....ha ha.

Then I just started playing....but wasn't having too much luck.

But I kept at it....meaning I walked around aimlessly putting off what I KNEW had to happen.

And after about 20 minutes I started feeling OK....

The top shelf has a cool black and white vase that I scored at Target last year....On the second shelf... both vases are from Target and I threw a green faux succulent in one of them [Pottery Barn].

Vintage wood bowl from a flea market.

I think for me....I like to add some vintage objects so it doesn't look like I just filled up my cart at HomeGoods.....you know?  Believe me....I scoured my house looking for things.....

The wood shelf was found in the bath section at HomeGoods....thinking outside the box a little.....and the art was from West Elm painted by Steve McKenzie.

I kind of left the top shelf very minimal.....

Second side......
Before

Keeping mostly with black, white and some wood tones....

I wanted to mix it up a little so I moved the wood beads to this side.....

Again I like to add some greenery and try to find some that looks as real as I can....not always easy!

For the top shelf on the left....the vase was from World Market [bought last year]....dried flowers from an arrangement and some wood beads just curled up.  I needed a small black painting so I did it myself:)

Tribal basket with faux plant in it....again put things into things:)  I also added another small painting from West Elm by Steve McKenzie.

Remember....layering from behind with a small piece of art....or a book....or a sea fan....just something that will give it dimension.

And.......that's a wrap for this Project Design series!  Head over to see what all of my other talented friends did.

Hope this gave y'all some direction and ideas....now you can get to work on those spring bookcases.....and remember have a sponge and some paper towels nearby.....just saying.
