THE LOOK FOR LESS

Occasionally  this design business can be hard.....for instance helping a client choose a DR table.  Light or dark....leaf or not.  What kind of legs on it.... or should we go more casual or traditional.

Find the table but can't find chairs.  Should we do a bench on one side?  Then.... can't find a bench long enough.  The selections can be endless.

I know what your thinking.  First world problems. Yeah I hear you but dang sometimes my indecisiveness can spill over to my work.  I am also sure that my client is thinking "I hired you to make this decision because I couldn't"..... so get with it sister.

I will keep you posted on this most important quandary.

I am constantly faced with the dreaded "B" word while working with clients.

Yes....like it or not we all have a budget.  While searching for light fixtures the other day I realized that just like with fashion Home Decor has many price points for similar items.

Take lighting for instance.  Here are a few examples.

Take off the small shades and you could have a pretty good version..

A while back I put this to the test using the Ballard Designs version.

The difference in price is hard to beat!

Again....remove the shades.  You know I am a big fan of a classic lantern

As you can see here....with a few of my projects.

In my own dining room....

I love both of these rope fixtures....with all of that great texture!

Yes there are subtle differences with cheap the less expensive versions.  But.....after the whole room is done many time they can be overlooked!

I am getting excited about going to the NY show.  Come by and say Hi....booth 1956.  Since my husband will be hanging out with Cami I am sure they will break all of my rules:)

Can we make it a great day?

DESIGN BOARD

Hope you guys had a great weekend.  We had a beautiful spring day on Saturday but rain on Sunday which is good for making everything look so green.

Which leads me to wishing you all a Happy St Patricks Day!

Yesterday I made the bad judgement of putting a tool in my hands.  That was a big mistake.

I was just trying to install a simple shelf and ended up with holes the size of Lake Michigan and enough frustration to fill it.

Crikey......it's just a few screws so why the hell did I have so much trouble?

The holes are patched and I am just praying that I don't have to paint the whole wall. That will send me into a nosedive.

I'm no fool....it outsmarted me and I know when to call in a professional.

It still makes me a little tense to talk about it.

I was at ADAC the other day looking at wallpapers and stumbled across this one.

Holy Foo Dogs!  It's by Sanderson.
It also comes in black.

Dayum....love.  As usual that got me thinking and the next thing I knew.....a plan was born.

I started with the teal color way and threw a little No. 9 Thompson at it.

Of course every room needs some Schumacher Leopard linen right?

And a small blast of color also.  Thibaut Zig Zag

It's no secret I am a big fan of natural fiber rugs....my go to texture in a room.  Merida.
It was starting to come together and I pictured it  in a dining room for some reason.

So I threw together a board.
Cause why not....it helped with the annoyance  of the power tool destruction.

I found the chandelier on Nierman Weeks....don't even go there unless you have a quadrillion dollars.

Check out this beauty.

The table is also from NW

Found these on 1st Dibs.  More money.

Some great art by Terrell James

Just some simple cream silk drapes.....

Maybe someone will install this plan and send me a picture.

Alrighty then.....I have some sanding and painting to do.
