AH&L KITCHEN OF THE YEAR WINNERS

Well it was bound to happen.  Some friends called to see if they could spend the night as we were all going to a party down the street from me and they live about 30 minutes away.

Can you guess?  Let me help you out.....I had to not only clean my house but I had to get the stuff that had spilled out of my "collection room" and into my only other guest room OUT!

Yes after doing 2 showhouses I had a surplus of stuff that I just didn't know what to do with.  Bags of pillows.....lamps....and left over fabrics in colors that I will not use.  You know like jewel tones:)

Lord....I worked for 2 days to get it together......taking stuff to the thrift store and a consignment shop.  Then spent Saturday cleaning which really made me mad because my cleaning girls are coming this week.

After it was done and the candles were burning....pillows all fluffed....the snacks set out it was totally worth it.  I asked my girlfriend if she could come once a month....haha.  You know to keep me in "check".

I have had kitchens on the brain lately and then Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles  published their kitchens of the year so I thought I would force what is on my brain onto yours....hee haw.

This gorgeous kitchen was designed by Jessica Bradley and Laurie Lehrich. I still love those amazing Hicks Pendants by Circa Lighting.

As you can see wood cabinets are making a comeback.  These are not those orangy yellow oak that at one time defined "wood cabinets".

And.....when you think that white kitchens are out....feast below!

This gorgeous kitchen was designed by Melanie Davis Bracey.

It just proves that white can still be right!

And more beautiful wood cabinets....designed by Mark Williams.

I love the black tiles floors with the stain color....so rich!

Another gorgeous white kitchen designed by Mallory Mathison Glenn.

Nice to see the Circa Lighting Goodman pendants still strong....I love them.

Mallory used warmer tones with her space [as opposed to the all white more modern space above]
And of course in the butlers pantry I did not miss that she used my beloved Pyne Hollyhock!

4 awesome kitchens....all different but beautiful right?

Your fav?  Please share.

P.S.  I used the word kitchens 7 times:)

2015 ASO DECORATOR SHOW HOUSE

Alrighty then.....we are coming off a wet weekend here in Hot 'lanta.  I had big plans for gardening and power washing.....so now I will be scurrying this week to get everything done for my little soiree.

As promised I have more pictures of the show house Chateau Soleil.  Be sure to get there and see for yourself!

April 18-May 10

Let's start with the foyer by Loren Tayler.  Hot damn it was purdy.

Of course she had me at black and white....

Her vignettes were layered just right.

yum yum.

Kapow right?

Let's move to the bathroom designed by Beth Kooby.

Oh Beth.....you nailed it.

Adorb right?  The Hygge + West wallpaper looks so good in this space.

I don't hate this vanity.  Nope.  Not at all.

Blue ceiling....of course I'm digging that.

I got to meet Beth [bath] and Jennifer Bradley who did the Laundry Room and Office.

I was feeling this space with the gorgeous grasscloth wallpaper by Schumacher.

I love this little area for a puppy :)  By the way I am working on getting another rescue sheepdog.....more on that later!

This room was so good but I was chatting away and neglected to do the best job of taking pictures.

Is this enough to whet your appetite?

I feel like Atlanta is known for having one of the best Show House's in the country.  Of course I'm no expert but I sure do gush every year over all of the talent.

So back to the rescue.  I got in touch with the OES rescue and they have a girl in south Florida that needs a home.  She is 17 months old and her name is Camelot.  I can be her foster and if it works out then she is all mine!

So excited cause I sure do miss the love of a smooch muffin.

Have a great week.....get it done!

2015 ASO DECORATOR SHOW HOUSE

It's my favorite time of year!  Yep...the Atlanta Decorator Show House opens April 18th and I couldn't be more excited.

I have never missed one since I moved here in 1989.

I'm sure all the designers are probably knee deep in it about now trying to juggle their own design work plus meet the show house deadline!

I kind of know what they are going through having my own private hell with a darn deadline.  I will update you later this week on how that is going.

Chateau Soleil is a french style estate designed by architect William T. Baker.  It was built in 1998, has 14,000 square feet with 6 bedrooms, 7 baths and 4 1/2 powder baths.

I looked over the list of designers participating this year and thought I would highlight a few.

First up is Jessica Bradley.  I wasn't familiar with her work so I visited her portfolio.

Beautiful.

Her traditional style is clean and polished.  I love this pretty bedroom.

Jessica is doing the laundry room and pantry.

Next up is Bob Brown.  Yes I have written about him before but I love his slightly masculine, sophisticated style so much.

Bob is a great stylist......and I love how he mixes traditional and modern so seamlessly.

I've noticed he uses a lot of wood tone in his designs and even though the rooms are well edited Bob creates warmth using his talent of layering different textures.

The rug.

I constantly see this room on Pinterest!

Bob is designing the master bedroom and "his" bath.

Beth Kooby is another designer who's work is new to me.  She has a great eclectic approach to design.

Check out this cute bath!

Love the floors in this one.

I am looking forward to seeing how Beth transforms 2 powder rooms.

Anyone coming in to town for this?  The dates are April 18-May 10th.  For a list of all the designers and portfolios go here

My own finish line is 17 days away.....which is causing me  slight anxiety.  People....it's just me.  I don't have a "team".....so Sherika has to pull this off:)
