ANOTHER PROJECT UPDATE

So I had this thing done to my face.

Dermaplaning.  I was a little apprehensive so I let my sister go first:)  She called me on the way home and said "you have got to do it" and I couldn't make an appointment fast enough....haha

It's where they take a little scalpel and scrape your face....taking off all the dead skin cells and little hairs.  Lordy my face is so smooth and shiny....I would definitely do it again.

I spent last week getting a client ready for a party which meant ordering a few things to finish up the LR and getting some art hung.  I also went over and did her flowers for the event!

Let's start with these chairs that I had refinished and recovered in this pretty Schumacher fabric.

I am a big believer in using what you have....these belonged to the homeowners grandmother.

So much better!  And then we threw a cute little pillow on it and she all but high fived me for making her look so pretty:)

#upcycle y'all.

This chair finally arrived!  The Copper chair from Charles Stewart covered in Schumacher's Chiang Mai Dragon.  I actually had this gorgeous fabric sent out to Nanotex to be treated!

More Schumacher fabric on this pillow....

When I saw this Gabby mirror at the mart I knew it would be the perfect thing for over the mantel.

And I found this bench at my fav consignment store here in Atlanta called Swoox and I had it recovered.  I love the lines of it!

Still working on collecting some art for this hallway gallery wall.

Hung this gorgeous commissioned piece from Andrea Costa.

Had some pillows made for the host and hostess chairs in the dining area off the kitchen.

And another new pillow....

A little accessorizing on the end table.

While I was at Gabby getting the other mirror I spotted this one which was PERFECT on this dark wall!

And last....this Carrie Penley got hung in the dining room....

Just little snippets as I need to get this house finished and photographed!

OK....wedding festivities started last night!  So excited for my niece:)

Sometimes it is hard for me to believe I have gone from Stewardess [20 years] ....to fitness instructor....to designer in my lifetime....and I am not ready to give up yet....haha.

THIS AND THAT

I'm feeling a little lazy today.....so this post is going out late:)  We decided to head to the beach on Wednesday since the rental was vacant and I somehow turned into a slug within 24 hours.

You guys know I have been going strong like a mad woman probably since August and its a good feeling knowing that my "to do" list isn't 20 pages long.

Whew.

But of course there is plenty to do here.....like why do people re-arrange things when they are supposed to be on vacation?

What I walked in to....

What it's supposed to look like!

I mean OK....I have been known to maybe refresh a rental but seriously I KNOW it looks better and that is the way it should be.  Let the professionals handle it....hahaha.

The next morning I was walking Cami and we were both coughing....I was thinking it was sand in our throat but somebody said it was Red Tide.  Huh?  I'm not sure I have ever been down here when this was happening but dang you can hardly walk outside with out hacking up a lung.

On our walk I started looking at all the beige houses....which in itself is not a bad thing but here's the deal....and especially in Florida!

They look so blah!

If this is your house I'm sorry......but here is some free design advice....paint the sashes and the front door blue!

See how much better it can look!  They painted the soffit and the front door!

Last weekend we were invited up to Lake Burton with some friends...

I just bought the new iPhone and  it takes the best pictures!

A couple of us drove into the town of Cayton and wandered into a store call Dogwoods!

So many pretty things!

On Tuesday I went up to the Pinewood Forest Showhouse to start unloading my room....I'm a little late as it was over Oct 5th!
I am still in love with this door.

I had to get all the art out and returned to Swoox [they were so patient]

I know it is a consignment store but I always want to move in.

I also had to go to ADAC and you know I love discovering new fabric lines like these below from Ellen Eden

And the ones below from Charlotte Gaisford

You are welcome :)

I also had a curtain install and these cafe curtains against this Cole and Son wallpaper made me giddy.

Started a new project with Ladisic Fine Homes and I'm pretty excited.  It includes a pool and covered outdoor living area....

I'm loving these Currey and Co concrete benches to use at the end of the pool....

Are you bored yet?

Just finished this podcast about Steroids....it was so interesting!

I love a good true story so if you have any please share!

Have I sunk to a new low just rambling on about nothing.....I have plenty to post especially about the House Beautiful project but that would require a little more bandwidth that I can gather this morning:)

PINEWOOD FOREST SHOWHOUSE BEFORE AND AFTER PART 2

OK...we talked about the downstairs of the tower now let's walk up the spiral staircase to the top floor.  Yes....I know....some people mentioned they don't like those....so let me explain.

Pinewood Forest is a New Urbanist Community across from the Pinewood Movie studios.  I am not sure if you know this but Atlanta is second to LA for producing movies.  There are about 4,000 creatives who work at Pinewood and The neighborhood is geared to them.  Funky houses and also in one of the best school districts in Georgia.

The tower is a separate space from the main house...a guest house in a way.....although I looked at it like a space that you would want if you were an artist, writer or even a designer.  The bottom floor would be a place to receive clients and the upstairs could be where you worked.

The main house has 4 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and a small office space.

So...back to the spiral staircase.  I doubt an elderly couple would by this house so I don't think it would be a problem!

Here is the floor plan for the tower.....it includes a full bath.

And here was my plan...which doesn't look anything like it except it's black and white:)

Again....looks nothing like my inspiration....ha ha

One of the best things about my space were the Authentic Reclaimed Floors....laid in a herringbone pattern!

The called me and asked if I wanted them.....ummmm.....duh.  Do you know me?

Below are my inspiration photos....

Well....I strayed a little....you know time constraints [I was involved in the House Beautiful project at the same time] and a little thing called "money".....haha.

I stayed with a round table and a fig tree.  I was going to paint the walls dark but I kind of missed the deadline....whoops.

I did find this awesome bench at HomeGoods.  What seemed huge while trying to maneuver into the cart.....

......Looked absolutely minuscule in the space.  I'm not going to lie...I was a little nervous on install day because I had no backup.

And this area wasn't making me happy at ALL!

But I went home and regrouped for day 2!
My friend Rose who was helping me was positive we could pull it off....while I was standing there scratching my head she was singing uplifting songs about how the "sun would come out tomorrow"........hee haw

I used the Ikea Docksta table and we decided the white base was blinding so we painted it a dark gray with some chalk paint I had in my basement.

I order the 2 chairs from Wayfair
Got the large amber bottle at Scott's Antique Market and the wood chain at Pottery Barn.

The baskets and art helped the bench wall expand....

The Joe Adams art came from Swoox....the fig tree at Home Depot and the container at World Market.

I was lucky to be able to use a favorite Circa Lighting chandelier.....

Love the doors!

Again these images emphasize how the placement of the baskets on the wall and the art helped to make the bench not appear so small....smoke and mirrors right!

Well....there you have it!  It's open on the weekends thru October 7th.  Next up are all the other spaces by my fellow designers who put in way more effort than I did and it shows!

Here is a shot of Blayne....[the artist for that wonderful piece that made my room shine] and I!
It's available at Anne Irwin Fine Art

Hope y'all are having a great week!
