BEFORE AND AFTER

The bell rang and all pencils put down at 11:00 on Sunday morning.  It was a marathon for sure getting every last detail finished before the Cathedral Tour of Homes 2016.

Every room had flowers....beds were perfectly made.....house was clean!  I loved seeing so many of my design friends come by to see this gorgeous home.

As I said the whole upstairs had not really been decorated.  They moved in a little less than a year ago and it was a job in itself to get the ground floors completed.

One of the rooms I completed turned out pretty good considering I used mostly what they had!

Let's start with a few before shots.....

Like I said this room is huge!  We kept the beds, dressers, chairs and recovered the couch.

You remember where I started....

I ended up not using the trim on the curtains....long story but there were 8 panels and I thought it would be too much to use on the leading edge.  Think "stripey"

That wall is so darn big but when she brought out some quilts for the bed  I thought let's just hang on the wall!  OK....that is kind of a lie.....my nephews wife was with me and she said she saw it on an episode of Fixer Upper.  It was like the angels started singing......

Before
After
New curtains,  sofa recovered, painted coffee table, rug from HomeGoods.  End tables were also painted and the chairs just got some pretty pillows:)  Chandelier from Currey and Co.

Throws from Homegoods.  Swirl pillows from the Guildery and their new collection.....

Bowl from Target and quartz from HomeGoods.

 Before

After
The homeowner had a friend who was an artist and she painted this for us in a timely manor!  I will be using Melanie in the future because you will also see some other work she did for us!  So many large walls in this room....it was killing me.

Lamps ordered at market and the sconces are from Circa Lighting.

One of the reasons I used the Jim Thompson No.9 fabric was because it had some beige in it to help make the chair fabric look purposeful you know?

I kept the bedding simple [Pottery Barn that she already had]  and just couldn't decide what to put over the beds.....

So I am going to wait on that....I think the beds were from Walmart....shhhhhh:)  They had bought them when they lived in their rental while building......

In the bathroom I straightened out the cubbyholes.

I used her antique marble table and some old books and a modern piece of previously owned art.....

The painter did a very soft wash on the walls......think 80's ha ha.

And that is a wrap.....for this room!   More on some of the other spaces I pulled together later.

I am so glad it all came together!  Whew.....

PROJECT DETAILS

I'm starting right out with this.

As far as Making A Murderer and Steven Avery... let me say this:  I do not know whether he is guilty or not.  Since watching it along with a million other people new information has surfaced that we didn't hear in the courtroom.  As I said before my feelings were that there seemed to be some injustices about the details of the investigation and trial.

So let's not jump to conclusions with the idea that I am all "Judge Judy" and would have him released from prison right away:)

OK....back to all things frivolous like design.

I have some good news for all of you local peeps.  This incredible project is going to be on the Cathedral Tour of Homes on Feb 7th!  You will have the opportunity to see the whole house.

That being said...... I am busy working on some of the rooms that we neglected after the big push to get the downstairs finished.

I have had 3 major deadlines with the first one getting the downstairs done for the Junior League Tour last March.  Then we took a small breather and had another big push to get it ready for the photoshoot in October.

Now in 3 short weeks we have another tour and another deadline.  Geez....it is a good thing I work well under pressure.

I am working on 2 areas right now....the girls loft and a large bedroom.

Here is the loft during construction.  Through that doorway is the bedroom which is pretty large.  It has 2 queen beds in it.

A more completed view from the other direction.  Through the doorway are 2 additional bedrooms and an upstairs laundry room.  On the left you can see the glass half wall.  The curtains in the DR start up here!

The ceilings are painted SW Repose Gray

And this light fixture from RH was hung.

In the bedroom....3 large Currey and Co chandeliers.

This Mitchell Gold sofa shown here in their rental [while they built their dream house!] will get new life after being re-upholstered

Here it is in their former family room.

Repurpose right!  There are actually 2 of these sofa's so one is going in the girls loft.

There are 2 of these chairs [that were in the LR of the old house] also going into the bedroom.

You can see them flanking the FP in the old LR.

This coffee table shown in the rental.....

Shown here in their old family room....will be used and painted white.

I kind of built my plan around this art that we will use in the bathroom right off the bedroom.....

With these floors that kill me every damn time I see them.  Tile from Renaissance.

So are you totally confused now?  Well here is the plan.  I am using this Jim Thompson No. 9 fabric called Indore Garden for all my pillows.  It has a little beige in it that will go nicely with the chairs.  It also has some white which is on the walls.....and the bedding.

I posted this yesterday when I found the turquoise fabric for the sofa.  I know.....are you shocked I am doing a sofa other than white?  Yep.....stepping outside the box here folks.  I'm nothing if not daring right?  My new nickname is "color queen".

Hee Haw.

The curtains are gonna be white with this trim down the leading edge.

Still have a lot more details to work out like lamps....accessories etc.

Here is a before shot....
Two white iron beds.....and each side has similar antique wood chest.

Stay tuned for more updates because this puppy has to be finished by Feb 6th.....yes 27 days.

More details on the girls loft later......Lucky for me I found the fabric for both sofas and curtains yesterday at Fabric and Fringe Warehouse .

I'm on it.

DESIGN BOARD

Hope you guys had a great weekend.  We had a beautiful spring day on Saturday but rain on Sunday which is good for making everything look so green.

Which leads me to wishing you all a Happy St Patricks Day!

Yesterday I made the bad judgement of putting a tool in my hands.  That was a big mistake.

I was just trying to install a simple shelf and ended up with holes the size of Lake Michigan and enough frustration to fill it.

Crikey......it's just a few screws so why the hell did I have so much trouble?

The holes are patched and I am just praying that I don't have to paint the whole wall. That will send me into a nosedive.

I'm no fool....it outsmarted me and I know when to call in a professional.

It still makes me a little tense to talk about it.

I was at ADAC the other day looking at wallpapers and stumbled across this one.

Holy Foo Dogs!  It's by Sanderson.
It also comes in black.

Dayum....love.  As usual that got me thinking and the next thing I knew.....a plan was born.

I started with the teal color way and threw a little No. 9 Thompson at it.

Of course every room needs some Schumacher Leopard linen right?

And a small blast of color also.  Thibaut Zig Zag

It's no secret I am a big fan of natural fiber rugs....my go to texture in a room.  Merida.
It was starting to come together and I pictured it  in a dining room for some reason.

So I threw together a board.
Cause why not....it helped with the annoyance  of the power tool destruction.

I found the chandelier on Nierman Weeks....don't even go there unless you have a quadrillion dollars.

Check out this beauty.

The table is also from NW

Found these on 1st Dibs.  More money.

Some great art by Terrell James

Just some simple cream silk drapes.....

Maybe someone will install this plan and send me a picture.

Alrighty then.....I have some sanding and painting to do.
