Last night I heard my husband making some noises and I looked over. It appeared like he was doing a dance or something. He was stomping and then flicking something off his pants. Then he started laughing and I got interested in this turn of events.
He said there was a roach or what he thought was a roach and he was trying to kill it. Then in some strange way it "flicked" up to the side of his pant leg and he was trying to get it off, [the dancing part]. It wouldn't budge and as he got closer this is when the giggling started.
You know how when people start laughing and they won't tell you what happened??? I am standing there going "what.....WHAT?" Finally he spilled the beans and it turns out he was trying to kill a pillow feather.
Here is that dang feather that wouldn't die and stuck to the side of his pant leg. People, I laughed for a solid 10 minutes. I am still laughing as I write this. Looks almost like a bee to me :)
On to Sunday Supper. Jan's beautiful backyard. Actually this post will be more about the backyard than the supper because once I started eating, I forgot to take pictures of the food.
Is this not beautiful?
An no...my backyard does NOT look like this.
She just had the fire pit put in. And when is it supposed to cool down?????
Beautiful pots.
Cute!
More pretty!
Sound....
The best part is coming...according to me!
The party lights!!! On a dimmer no less....She just had these installed. Cause I said she must!!! Jan said they look like Cinco De Mayo. I said "No they would be colored and flashing then". I wanted it to look like the backyard on the TV show Parenthood! See that torch in the RH corner? Well there was another one at the bottom of the stairs and I flicked my hair and realized I almost caught it on fire! Not to self...don't get drunk tonight.
This is where we used to have Sunday Supper.....
But I gotta tell you.....this was fabulous. AND...just in case you were wondering...no mosquitos either. You don't have a backyard that pretty and not have it sprayed once a month.
It was awesome.
On to Wednesday....Let's "get er done" people!!!
Don't forget about the giveaway!!! Go here
Also I am guest posting at Casey's blog Loft and Cottage today. I am putting a bathroom together for one of my clients! There is so much more goodness there....so go take a look.

Smackdown with a feather...that is good stuff! Sounds like something my husband would do. He is deathly afraid of spiders and squeals like a little girl when he sees one. (It runs in the family...my boys are the same way). Thanks for the morning chuckle...I can always count on you! BTW, that backyard is stunning! I would never go inside!
Oh my - a dimmer! I'd die! That doesn't look a normal person's backyard; it looks like something from a movie! It's so so gorg! So funny I was actually thinking about that tv show right before you mentioned it! I'm taking notes on the centerpiece too. Oh - and that feather - hilarious!
Wowza! I'd like to dine in that back yard - I love the lights and I bet they are even better at night. Going over to check out your guest post. Your hubby is funny - darn pillow feather!
I WANT PARTY LIGHTS! Such a great backyard.
And, quit scaring your husband with your pillows. . .
Loved the feather/roach story! You never know in Atlanta... There were times when I lived there that my roommate would say, "don't move." I'd immediately jump up, knowing there was probably a roach near me. Yuck! I was surprised I was able to bear children after the vast amounts of Raid we used to spray to drown those suckers. Glad your hubby's roach was merely pillow stuffing!
Oh, and that backyard is incredible!! Love the lights. We have the redneck version of that in our yard. We just leave our Christmas lights strung in the spruce trees all year... classy.
I want a firepit like that! Your Sunday suppers sound like fun times.
Thanks for the laugh. I hate to say it, but I have done the same thing, thinking a pillow feather was a bug. Her yard is amazing. And the lights are the perfect touch. The table is beautifully set. We are suppose to get a bit of a cool down this weekend - finally.
I will never look at a feather the same way again;)
I SO wish I had a backyard like that. Absolutely dreamy!! And that feather thing cracked me up and hit close to home. Our couch/floor are constantly covered with feathers - but ours are usually white, so no mistaking them for roaches! Too funny. I'll hop over and look at Loft and Cottage now!
Love the party lights!
The feather was a hoot! LOL... Oh my girdle I love that backyard with the lights AND the table!! I love tablescapes!!! xo
You are just too funny! I am vividly picturing the antics at your house!
What an awe inspiring back yard, not sure I would ever leave if it were mine...
Cathy
Sherry I can only imagine how wonderful it looked at night with the fire lit and the lights, like Disneyland, I love white lights in the yard, even if it is not Christmas!!! I think you succeeded in making it look like Parenthood, that is suppose to be in Berkley which is really close to my town. I love that setting when the whole family is there eating together. Now!! About the bug story, I love it!! I cracked up, you gave me my first laugh of the day and on only 1/2 cup of coffee no less, Have a great day sweetie and thanks for sharing, tell your friend her yard is perfection!! Kathysue
Okay, I have laughed to tears! Hope he doesn't read your blog. What a backyard. Now I know for sure mine looks like poo.
Well I love those lights...and I love "Parenthood". We just had lights like that for my daughter's wedding...gorgeous. That backyard and table setting are so great...I really want to come to Sunday Supper. Have a good one.....Karen
You have a magazine worthy back yard! Yowza!
Funny about the feather I've been guilty of the same thing. I love Jan's backyard, we need a fire pit and it isn't cooling off up north yet either.
What an amazing backyard and yup, those pillow feathers can be deadly ;)
LOVE the lights in that back yard AND the fire pit! Sooo gorgeous!! A feather? Don't you wish you had a video camera? You Tube Fame for sure!!
I a going over to enter the give away!

beautiful back yard..love the water fall...and I'm sure dinner was great too... :)
and I so sympathize with your husband as I've done that with what I thought was a spider..yikes..!!
best,
maureen
What a beautiful dinner setting! Lucky guests.....sooo beautiful, the waterfall is so lovely and I love nothing more than hearing water trickle. And a fire pit...you thought of everything. Its beautiful!
Oh my gosh! I laughed so hard reading about that "bug"! I still don't think I would've believed it was a feather had you not said that. It really looks like a wing off a bug! That backyard is GORGEOUS! I'm going to show this firepit to my husband. He wants to build one and this one is perfect! Love the pond/waterfall feature and the lights. That must've made for a wonderful evening!
Dude that totally looks like a roach!! I would rather get 5 root canals while doing 8 loads of laundry and eating beets than have a roach anywhere in my vicinity. I would have cried over that feather.
LOVE that backyard...I'm having some lights strung for Christmas, but mainly for a bridal shindig I'm hosting soon after and I might just leave them up forever. So might as well go bigtime (in my teeninsy backyard, mind you).
So funny! I'm sure you won't let him forget this one in a very long time! The backyard is quite the show stopper too.
Can I come to dinner next time? I'd really love to...
You know I love all the green in that garden. It's so textural you don't even need flowers. And thanks goodness your hair didn't go up in flames!
Beautiful backyard! The table looks great... love the way the silverware is set up!

I am glad I am not the only one, my hubby did the same thing a few times until I figured it out, guess it's time to replace a few of our feather pillows.
I would have gotten the giggles too! The fall dinner looks beautiful...I almost bought those boxes the last time I was at Metrolina...woulda, coulda...you know the rest:) Hope you are well.
Burnt toast would taste delicious in that zen back yard. That is hysterical about the feather roach!!!
Wow that back yard was built for entertaining! The lights really sealed the deal for me.
And too funny about your hubby:)
Love the napkins on the outdoor table...where do I find?!?!
I had to giggle about the 'roach' dance!
AND that back party yard....outstanding!
I 'pinned' the tablescape.....lov-er-ly!
Hope your trip is fun!
xx
Gorgeous! I love it all but especially those centerpieces, so so pretty and creative! Hope you're doing well!
xo

I would have had a panic attack if I saw that on my sweater!! I go in to crazy mode as soon as something resembles a bug on my clothing!!
Really Sherry? You ruined my weekend now that I will gaze outside and wish I had THAT backyard. Kidding of course my friend. I might steal the idea though. LOVE having no grass.
Tell your husband he needs to spray some Raid on his pants.
Hugs,
Amy
Amazing...my backyard is a total embarrassment compared to that! As for the funny incident with your husband, mine would have been trying to capture it for my son...I have to do a post on how many insects we have in various containers in our home. Kinda gross for most people...
The feather story is funny, I can just picture the "dance". An odd side effect of my last pregnancy was getting the giggles. I would laugh at the silliest stuff. One morning there was a news story about a banana truck crash on the highway and I couldn't even tell people what was so funny because I was laughing so hard--for like an hour!
