ONE ROOM CHALLENGE FALL 2016 WEEK ONE

Prepare the firing squad.

I will happily stand in front of it and take it like a man.  Because..... yes..... when Linda called me to take a spot in the One Room Challenge I don't know what happened but I heard the word yes coming out of my mouth.

In the middle of a kitchen renovation with sawdust and painters all over my house......deadlines everywhere and I still said yes.

Even though I could picture my husband kneeling there with his hands in the air screaming....

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy.......when does it end?

And me saying "when I'm dead apparently"

And thinking I heard him mutter "that can be arranged"

Now you know my weakness.... especially after I moaned last fall when I realized my invite was lost in the mail......

So here we are!

This is quite an impressive group so how could I say no....although I better be bringing my A game right?

If you are new to the ORC there are 20 of us trying to finish a room in 6 weeks.  The brains behind all of this is Linda from Calling It Home and she works hard keeping us in line while rounding up some great sponsors!

Yay Linda!

OK....OK.....what room am I doing?  My bedroom.

Let's take a ride back in history to the beginning.

I would say this is early 90's since we bought our home in 1994.

The chest on the left I still have only it's painted white.

I don't know which version was first [overhead pictures].  I had wall to wall seagrass installed when we renovated in 1994.  Y'all that stuff lasted forever until I finally installed hardwood floors!

That is my second Old English Sheepie Fancy and the beginning of my love for blue....as you can see I added a bit here!

I sold that bed and we upgraded to a king!  Game changer.....the chest is now painted white.

I still have this chest that I got at Scott's.

Installed hard wood floors!

Of course the great pillow change was in effect by then:)

You can see here that I had wood planks installed on the cathedral ceiling.

And.....I later had them painted white which was the beginning of the "white phase".....

More pillow combinations.....I can't get it right apparently!

I think this was just a cheap rug remnant.....

And then I was at a yard sale and bought this rug!

Still changing out those pillows.....
And..... still using the egg prints!

Added the old shutters and surprise....changed out the pillows:)

New mirror.....

The desk was long gone and this chair and ottoman are still in the picture!

Which is where we are today.  AND I know what you are thinking....what the heck is wrong with this room?  Nothing really but I am just ready for a change.

Now you know my sister "the bunny" is standing in line waiting for those shutters, rug and lamps :)  The good thing is that whatever I give her I can snatch back on a whim.

I mean right?

All I can say is that I am glad I have another week to figure out my plan.  Yep....while everyone is probably almost finished I got nuthin.

I hope you will follow along with me for the next six weeks while I organically [translation=figure out what the heck I am doing] transform this room!

Check out the talented designers who will joining me this go around!

So thrilled we get to run this race together, Sherry, and I cannot WAIT to see what you do with your already lovely space! (Also, I think we need to create a "Husbands of ORC Designers" support group. The struggle is real!!). Sarah xx

Ha! I've had the same conversation with my husband. Except after he tells me "that can be arranged" he likes to add that he keeps someone on speed-dial. Poor, poor man.

Am I supposed to have pillows on my bed?Oh, the pillow pressure. Can't wait to see this. The ceiling is fantastic, and the floors are beautiful.

Fantastic! I'm familiar with this process of an already really great room turning into something hopefully-amazingly-better - organically. Perfect. Love that method! I'm flying by the seat of my pants this round too! Can't wait to see what you do!
