The gold buttons...

I sat down last night to sew on those gold buttons.  Just 5.  There were a few bumps along the way....

I must have gotten cheap thread because on one of them the thread got stuck and I had to cut the bugger and start over.  There were 2 buttons on the sleeves and 3 on the front of the coat.  After I got the 2 on the sleeves done...they went pretty smooth, so I must have gotten kind of cocky like I was going to start changing ALL the buttons on everything I had.....I started with the front.  Whoa there nellie......

I was cutting off the buttons only as I was doing them [meaning that I did NOT cut all of the buttons off at once]  First one...check.  Start cutting off the second one...whoops I just realized I cut off the one I had just sewn on....yeah...you read that right.  Cuss myself out.  Decide right then and there....no more button changing.

I tried to get a really good picture but they all make the coat look navy.  It is not.  It is purple.

But....hey it is done.  Voila.  Ta Da.  Bam.

I have a few new fabrics to show you from Kravet.

These are a real pretty light weight linen.

Good for curtains....

or pillows...

comes in so many good colors....

Treads is the name of it.  I think there were even other colors but they weren't up on the web site yet.

Also Latika now comes in some other really pretty colorways.  They only had one up on the web site so far.
So pretty.
Here are a few trims from the Calvin Klein Collection [Kravet also].
Wouldn't these look good down the leading edge of some panels....
One more...
Awesome!

Here are 2 more trims from the same collection that I loved.

Gorgeous huh???
AND....I am using this beautiful teal grasscloth [from Kravet] in an office.  So excited.

Partial bank install today.....Oh Joy.  But I am excited to see the art work hung up.  Pictures I hope.  Scott's tomorrow.

Happy Doodle Thursday my little asparagus tips....

Your story of the buttons had me laughing! I've done the same thing many times with the thread knotting up or removing a button I just finished!

Those fabrics and trims are beautiful and that grasscloth.......LOVE it!!

I got really excited because I thought you were giving away some Treads - darn. But beautiful beautiful stuff. And that grasscloth is awesome - can't wait to see that installed. Your coat does look navy, but it's sharp Sherry! Happy Thursday to you!

I have to laugh at the fact that you cut off the very button you just sewed on! I know that wasn't so funny to YOU, however. That sounds like something I would do. Ha! Your coat turned out great in spite of it all though.

I was so laughing at your button thing, I'm a professional seamtress and even I've cut buttons off I just sewed on! Cotton thread it tangles, run it through candle wax and it stays smooth. Like the grasscloth we just hung some in our downstairs bath and love it but I'm loving that teal!

I have to say, sewing on
buttons is one of my
least favorite sewing jobs,
so BRAVO for the makeover,
Sherika : ) !! I've been really
liking grasscloth lately and
thinking about where I could
use it...hmmm......

Thanks for the smiles.

Love the gold buttons and didn't you know that "no pain no gain" also applies to sewing on buttons? :)

The buttons look great! As I tell my husband "It is the small things that kick my arse!" What is UP with that??? Makes no sense!

Hope the bank install goes smoothly!

It made me laugh that you cut off one of the buttons you'd just put on. That is SO something I would do. ;)

Ha, ha!! I got such a laugh (sorry) out of the fact you cut off a button you'd just sewed on. I would have loved to be sitting there teasing you about that one...the coat looks fabulous! Nothing like gold and color to brighten up a winter day!! Janell

I think buttons are tricky to sew on properly too...I've been known to sew-remove-sew again too. Nevermind the cute buttons though, let's talk about those trims!!! oh my!!! I would love to use them on panels. Love!!!!! xo, Asparagus Tip

Sherry! I have the same love for the Kravet fabric and am actually using it for drapery panels in a master bedroom. I think it's a great choice because it's not too expensive but super stylish.

My hubby works for a bank and I'm here to say you made a MASSIVE improvement to that reception area. I hope they were singing your praises when you left. xo
