ONE ROOM CHALLENGE

And we have lift off.......it appears that I am going to give my guest bedroom a makeover.  Which means that I have to make a decision and stick with it......nearly impossible.  I mean who does that?

It is also evident by that decision I am participating in the ORC again.....

Call me crazy.......but it was fun last time and I actually went past the 6 week deadline with my post.  Linda had to issue me a "cease and desist"  order.

OK......how about we just get to it.

Here is a shot of the room when I first decorated it 20 years ago. I like to start from the REAL beginning.....

I like to call this my "Out of Africa" faze.

Could I hang these pictures further apart:)
Of course there are many in-betweens....[duh] which I will share with you soon.

Here is a picture of the bathroom when we were looking at the house.

And after I had the tile sprayed white.

The floor was crappy so I had seagrass installed wall to wall.  That might sound like a bad idea but it worked pretty good for about 10 years!

This guest room was the original master bedroom and bath.  My house was built in 1946 and when we moved in it had never been renovated in any way.  Mr. and Mrs. Anderson had lived there for 50 years.

Alrighty then....I have to drill down on a plan.  I am a wiz at doing that for others.....why not me?

Crippled.
Frozen.
Indecisive.
Unclear.
Undecided.
Uncertain.
Unfreakingdon'tknowwhattodo.

Please join me and a gob of other creative bloggers on this journey.

Linda suggested that I remove my link from the above list but that would mean I knew how to do that.....:)

Stay tuned for more next week.

It's nice to know someone else is addicted to change and can't leave a room well enough alone, haha! Can't wait to see your progress!

I had that same tile in our (only) bathroom when we moved in. Can't wait to see what you do. And you've got 5 weeks to figure it out. :) Plenty of time!

you know...that out of afreeeca is just not half bad again. and i love the thought of the seagrass wall to wall..that would absorb a whole lotta pee...not sure how it would smell...maybe like wet grass and hey...we buy expensive candles to smell like that. I can't wait to see how you pull this into the 13s!

I think we all get crippled/frozen when trying to do our own decorating. It's just part of being surrounded by design stuff 24/7. Too many ideas. I love seeing these before pics. Cannot wait to see what you do with it because I know it will be sha-fabulous!

I think I had an Out of Africa stage, too. Can't wait to see what you do with the guest room.

For being decorated 20 years ago, it doesn't look bad. I was thinking it looked a little like old Banana Republic. :)
So excited to see what you do next.

Wow, the painted tile looks perfect! I can't wait to see what you do!

How on earth did you find a shower curtain to match your room. That was a score! You actually have some great pieces that I hope you kept and transformed over the last 19 years. As Jack said in Something's gotta give..."I Luv Ya"...you decide if it really means L-O-V-E.

From indecisive to incredible - I know it's coming!!

I'm totally cracking up that you don't know how to get your name off the list, makes me feel so much better that I can't get the ORC button on my sidebar!

Agree with Stacey(steward of design) looks pretty good for being 20 years old! You inspired me to redo my guest room after seeing your November master bedroom makeover for that young couple. Can't wait to see what ya pick!

That is so true about decorating our own homes. It takes my forever to make a decision and then I change my mind. Anyway, I have no doubt you will blow us away with your fab space. Thanks for the blast from the past - I was around to live it myself!

Oh boy! Your own guest room, that'll be great! But NOW you have to decide, out of all the millions and billions of cool options, what you're going to do with it! I can't wait to watch and hear about your choices!

Like what you pulled put of the bag :) Can't wait to see what you do. I like the wall to wall seagrass, how did it hold up?

I am in the middle of re-doing one of my guest rooms with my grandma's furniture. I can make decisions for client's with no problem...for me I have changed my mind countless times, have bought and returned more than I would like to admit and still am not sure. I like to change things up pretty regularly and hate to invest too many $$$ for custom 'stuff'. :) Goodwill has gotten LOTS of good stuff from me! Looking forward to seeing what you do!

Sherry you crack me up! Can't wait to see this space along the way and enjoy your spin on things.

Love your blog and can't wait to see what you come up with for your guest room! Would love to know what you thought of spray painted tile? I want to paint my kitchen tile backsplash (to tide me over until I can replace it) and everyone tells me it won't work. Any thoughts?

Have to tell you how much I feel a kindred spirit with you. Can make anyone else's mind up but not my own!
I have just completed, yesterday, a design challenge sponsored by Habitat for Humanity as part of our Mid-Atlantic Home and Garden Show. Their Re-stores are full of all kinds of donated things. We were given $1,000 credit to design and furnish a room from there. Lots of fun but very stressful trying to furnish a room with re-habed donations. Proud of the results.

You have the best sense of humor! We have all had a room like that it seems. Same tile, had my blue tub painted white, it lasted about 10 years, too. Can't wait to see you do your magic. Best of luck and hope youre not your worst client like I am mine!
