Home from Boulder, Co.
43 hours.
Greg [sil] is renovating a house so I went out to consult on paint colors.....some kitchen questions etc.....
Then we started talking about staging it. It is my belief that a staged home sells better. Since this project would be a "starter" home.....they probably still have college furniture. So....I don't think we have to break the bank giving it a cute look.
I introduced him to Pinterest.
Felt pretty good to show a hip, cyclist, dog loving, veggie eating dude something new. Uh huh...I am old but I do know a thing or 2.
I started a board [Grape St] so I could pin inexpensive items that he could order. Then I offered to go back out and help pull it together.......my favorite part.
OK...back to the new pillow.
When I posted my fall mantel there were a few questions about the cabinets flanking the FP wall. I had those custom built when we renovated the house in 1994. I got it in my mind that I did not want them to specifically look like built in cabinets.
Here is a close up of the bookcase styling.
One day a few years ago I got a wild hair and painted the inside with milk paint. I go back and forth between painting the whole unit and not. That would make for a heated debate huh?
I found the old propeller at a flea market in Florida.
And now for the picture that started this whole post....
News Flash....it's black and white. A really heavy linen.
Somebody else wanted to know about that black and white vase.....I got it at Ikea years ago....just a wood box and painted the stripes. You would have thought I posted about it but of course that was long before I mastered the "labels" button.
Did anyone local make it out to see all the rooms at UMCH?
Here it is Wednesday and it feels like Monday to me. Getting a late start on my week.
Need to be lighting fast at everything this week.

Oh man! I wish I knew you were here. I would have helped you paint the town red.
I'm glad we had great weather for you!
Black and white = perfect. Love it!
Love it all, but I vote no on painting the built-ins. (Not that you asked, just thought I'd share!) Glad you're back!
Great pillow...and chunky throw. I can see you addiction isn't waining. :)
My daughter, just out of college, needs inexpensive furnishings, too...last weekend we bought some cute curvy dining chairs (painted white) for $30 each...at a flea market in LA. I told her to do a Pinterest interiors, too!
Hi Sherry, back in blogland finally and so missed being here! Love the black and white, its always a winner. Have a great day!!
Love that graphic black and white pillow, of course.
Staging is fun. Can't wait to see the outcome. And I love that you taught that whippersnapper about Pinterest!
... can't lose with the BLACK AND WHITE....
You are so right Sherry--must stage that house for it to sell fast and get the best offer. Don't forget to check Craigslist. Lots of folks are downsizing and practically giving furniture away. Love the paint on the back of the bookshelf--I'd stop there:)
love the painted back of the cabinet!
Awww don't paint those bookcases! I love the warm wood in that room and that room with the art and black & white pillows (those zigzaggy ones) is one of my inspirations! The newest pillow is so pretty too.
Shelf-styling genius! I'm drooling.
I like the hutch like you have it! always awesome!
I would vote NO on panting the cabinets but tha's me. I LOVE wood. Love that pillow, I have a little pillow PROBLEM:):) XO, Pinky
Nope. No painting the whole thing. Thats just my thought. Love it as is. That pillow is gorgeous. Cant wait for you to see the pillows in my upcoming Etsy shop!
The built-ins look like antiques. I thought they were. Love them! As much as I love painted furniture, pls don't paint them :)
I like the wood as it is...and you know me, I like to paint things! It adds nice contrast to your walls.
I love your cabinets just like they are. Mine are the same shape in the great room. Great pillow. You know I love pillows.
I love, love , love your bookcase/cabinet and all your styling. I hope you'll show us Greg's house when you're done.

I'll bet that veggie eater was thankful for you! Painting the built-ins would definitely cause a stir.
I love black and white. Nice to read your blog again.
Those built-in shelves are one of a kind gorgeousness. I love them just the way they are - and want them. They could easily transition into an Anthro display - uh huh. Sounds like a fun consulting project w/ dude in CO - need to follow that Pinterest board. How am I not following you on Pinterest yet?
I just put a black and white pillow in my neutral living room and its leading me in a new direction! Have a relaxing weekend, you deserve it!
