Update and giveaway....

OK....this little DW leak is taking things to a whole new level.  I am serious...what they are going through to get these floors up will make your eyes roll back in your head.  First you have a concrete slab, then subfloor nailed down, and then hardwoods glued down with something that screams "this shit is not coming up".

For real.  Here is what they have gotten up in 2 hours...
Yep.  And we are talking 600 sq feet more.  It is safe to say they need to bring in a crew cause at this rate it might take them a month to JUST get the floors up.
See that little scraper he is working with....yeah the one that looks like it is about an inch wide....uh huh....go home honey.  You are totally wasting your time.
The did manage to get the granite off without breakage.....sad.
ON another note, I got my paint sample in the mail yesterday.  I couldn't slap some on a piece of wood fast enough.
For those of you late to this party, I ordered some Annie Sloan chalk paint.  For white floors.  Am I excited???  Yes...am I scared?  Yes.  I mean there is no going back.  They will be white until the city dump comes to get my body out of this house.  When would I ever move everything out again????

Never!  I guess if they get worn in spots....that's OK right?  Because you guys know I have 2 VERY large dogs with feet that have nails. Should I go for it?  I know...easy for you to say yes.  White floors all over blogland...so pretty.  Just like white slipcovers and I am here to tell you they are NOT EASY.

OK...I need some cheese to go with my wine!  I am shutting up.

Here are the May goods.  Summer.  Nautical.
3 prints from bexpert on Etsy.

2 pillow covers.  They were samples that I picked up at the mart the other day.  The have openings in the back for the inserts.
Fabric....about 2 yards each....and
Just cause it matches...one of my favorite candles from Anthro!
So....this could be the start of this look for someone.

If you are feeling the nautical vibe.....you can leave a comment and become a follower.
And can you believe it....Scott's is this weekend!

I am already a follower and I love the nautical stuff! We're having all of our flooring replaced next week, but we just have carpet right now so not so difficult to remove. Best of luck to you!

I have a friend whose DW leaked on her bleached floors and now she has to move everything out of her entire first floor to redo them. And she wants to go dark. Nightmare.

I appreciate your sense of humor about the whole thing.

Oh, I'm so excited to see the chalk paint on the floors! I've spent the last two months rebuilding my staircase and was thinking of using chalk paint b/c it wouldn't take days to dry, since I have two 6-year-olds, a big dog and two cats.
Good luck! Love your blog. :)

Cute stuff, Sherry ~ plus this ATL heat has me longing for a shore somewhere. :)
You are fearless with a white floor, woman... i tip my hat to you!! Good luck!

I think the floors will be beautiful with a little wear on them, but if you are going for perfect all the time I wouldn't do it. We have 2 painted white floor areas in our house and I just can't keep them clean, so they stay "worn". I just Magic Erasered them today and that is the only way to get them clean, as soon as someone walks on them nevermind.

How painful to watch them literally just chip away at the floors, yikes. Well it's about that time on Friday so hopefully you have a full glass of wine and you're relaxing.

Too bad I've already painted everything in my house or I'd be all over that chalk paint. Your floors are going to be gorgeous.

Holy cow, they are taking out the kitchen too? I hope insurance is footing this bill for this one. White floors. If you do it, you will be the gutsiest woman I know, and would have my complete admiration. On the other hand, I can understand your reluctance in terms of maintenance and whether or not you'll feel that same way about them as you do your backsplash tiles in 10 years.
Love the nautical stuff!

Oh my gosh, Sherry! I would not be happy, I can promise you that! Oh well, what can you do?

I do love the white. Doing the floors would scare me too, but it seems to fit your home so well, though. Easy for me to say, but go for it!

Take care and have a great weekend!

I want white floors SO badly in the new little house. The floors are actually concrete with in -floor heat. V thinks I am CRAZY , to want white. I say why not!
That little tiny tool isn't going to cut it! That's for sure!
Good grief!
I am on the edge of my seat to see your kitchen done! HURRY!
also- I am embarrased to say, I am confused at to what this chalk paint actually is.
Have a pretty day!

I'm looking at my kitchen nightmare now....I have to do almost the same thing this summer. I've contemplated renting a jackhammer to get my flooring and subfloor up {{shudder}}.

After all that work, you deserve to have whatever you want on those floors....go for it.

and I am crushing on the nautical theme...adorable!

I'm a follower too.

Wow, what a mess!!! I love the idea of the white floors. Have you visited with anyone that has them? I think Lauren Leiss with Pure Style Home and maybe even Megan with Beach Bungalow has them?? I think I've heard pros and cons from those two before. I'm just thinking about what you said about the white slipcovers. I've done them on my covered porch and though lovely, they are a nightmare to keep clean. I'm not sure when this trend started. I'm wondering how much longer it will last? As much as we love it, you know it's not going to be here forever. Nothing is. All that being said you have to go with what you love, because everything always changes.

Wow... frustrating. But since I'm late commenting it seems that the geniuses have figured it out. Amazing how long people can stick with something before they realize it's not really working.... me included sometimes. :)

Wow. They are going to earn their money for getting those floors up!!

Yay for the white floors ... and the wear on them will be part of the charm. I know, because my floors are Peruvian walnut (very dark) and they are so sensitive ... meaning with just life with 2 kids and a small dog and they are beat to all h-e-double hockey sticks. Yet I still love them ... and I would do it again ... even if I get occasionally irritated at the wear.
