Finally the beach.....and the floors are white!

I haven't seen them but my sister looked in and said "It's white in there!".......I said "really white?"  and she said "yes".   Well...what does she know....she owns a restaurant.   Besides, there is no furniture, pictures or anything so I am sure it is blinding :)

Before I left Atlanta, I went to Restoration hardware to look for cabinet pulls.  I went to Home Depot first thinking that I could find some really cheap ones that I would like.  No such luck.  I REALLY tried.  Then I went into RH and knew I was in trouble.  I saw these....
Oh yeah...come to mama.....glass in the middle.  I was fixated on them like a teenage boy looking at a Sears catalog in the 50's.  They did not even have one for me to take home and stare at.  I broke down and ordered them.....we'll see.

I will not even be home until the 4th.  To see the white floors.

I ran across some pictures of Atlanta designers Carter Kay and Nancy Hooff the other day and thought you guys might like to see some of their work.  I remember hearing Carter's name years ago when I first started in the business.  I always loved her work, but the two of them together have really done some stunning design.

This kitchen is going into my files for sure.

Holy crapness.....this has me totally in love.

More pretty....
I remember this vignette being in one of my favorites on the kitchen post I just did.
Looovvvveeee this room.

So much beauty...texture, neutrals.
I love how the window treatments are hung and the gold chair with the gray and spice color.
I know I have used this picture before with the modern lamp and the starburst mirror.
What doesn't work here????  A big fat nothing....
The opening of the door matches the top of the mirror.
I would love to recreate this in some way.
Hello gorgeous....the curtains just make me happy.
Yep...just plain pretty.

This is the kind of design that is timeless in my book.  Very well edited and not staged.

Hope you guys all have a wonderful Memorial Weekend.  I hate to complain but it is dang hot here at the beach.  Everyone is down in the sun and I just couldn't take it right now.  I ran 4 miles in the heat this morning and it about killed me.  So I am relaxing in the AC with my poochies.

Um, that first picture of the kitchen? Good Lord have mercy.

I like the running commentary on the images you select. You should keep doing that.

Oh and the handles are to die for. My glass handles and knobs came from RH also, they were the only place I could find them with a oil rubbed bronze back!!! They were worth every penny!!! xoKathysue

The kitchen in that first image is great but I'd like to see what the plumbing for the sink in the island (that they're hiding with a big basket) looks like. love the horizontal boards in the second photo too.

Can't wait to see the floors.

I can always count on a good laugh every time I read your posts! I think the pulls will be a winner... The designs of Kay and Hooff are quite amazing! There wasn't a room that I didn't love. I hope you and pooches continue to have the grandest time at the beach!

Beautiful work above but I really can't wait to see your white floors, bet they are going to be unreal and stunning!! AND I so love your handles, you get my vote that that was the absolute right thing to do. If you had bought cheapies, you would forever stared at them with disdain and hated them everytime you walked into that room....these are gorgeous!!!! They will make the room...can't wait to see more!

I loved all of the details, which was the icing on the cake in these gorgeous rooms: the round pewter charger, whitewashed horizontal boards, simple panels hung on knobs, colored seltzer bottles and sea fans, and that gorgeous arched mirror... Great post!

You should write a book. In all your spare time--I know. But I could read your blog for days.

I have always love the handles that you picked from Restoration Hardware. They really carried some of the most beautiful hardwares. Love all your inspiration pictures, too.

Can't wait to see the white floors!! I have the towel bar version of your Restoration Hardware pulls - they're lovely. I only wish they sat a bit further from the wall so I could fit big fluffy towels in but other than that they're terrific. I love Carter Kay and Nancy Hooff's work - I'm pretty sure I have several of these shots in my files!

I don't know how you can stand not seeing the floors right this minute. I'd be cutting my vacation short! Shoot, I can't even stand not knowing how they look. I may have to drive over there right now! :)

I love all the photos. My fav the kitchens ones. I'm so happy to see a fireplace without the chairs facing it. We have the strangest long great room with a fb in the corner I recently moved the chairs facing the stairs and my husband thought I lost my rocker. LOL..

Have fun in the sun. 4 miles of pure running on a sandy beach I'm jealous! xo

50 of the last 60 days have been rain, so I can't even imagine what the sun looks like right now! My favorite reason to cross the border and drive for an hour is to get to the outlets with the Restoration Hardware Outlet... dangerous. Hope the handles work out!
