BEFORE AND AFTER

It shocks me to say this....but we have been friends for 10 years now....that is how long I have been blogging!  Thank you for reading and commenting.  Thank you for listening when things have been great and not so great......

I also want to say that I appreciate every sweet comment about my brother in law.  Cancer touches so many of our lives....and I heard from a lot of you about your own stories.

Bless you all.

Yes the last 6 months have been a struggle but like I always say....nobody said life was fair.  So....you just keep pushing forward and that is what I am trying to do.

OK....I promised we would get back to decorating and we are.  A few post back I blogged about a project [see it here] that I got involved with through a friend.  We were going to re-use many things she already had.

I have a few updates for you today.....nobody loves a before and after better than me:)

Let's review....the wallpaper, the fabrics....the curtain rods [before] and the trim.

You ready.....

Remember there were 2 bedside chest that needed a little updating.....So much better...

This one needed a dark top to match the other side....

It looks so much better!

The one above had a greenish tone to it so he fixed that and added a little gold to the hardware!

We wanted to glam up the doors a little....

He also did a little something to the hardware!

She found an oval ottoman at a consignment store....

It received some gorgeous Schumacher cut velvet fabric....

She is ready for her closeup now!

Re-using this chair from the living room....

He touched up the existing curtain hardware.  Traverse rods would have been very expensive to replace and I am not mad at how they look now!!

Again some beautiful Schumacher wool fabric with some pretty trim!

The curtains frame the windows so nicely don't cha think?

The ceiling has just a hint of pink....

OK are you ready for the wallpaper?

Game changer!

This is the sitting area and it looks like a jewel box now!

The beautiful Charles Stewart Bromley sofa covered in a pretty Schumacher velvet!

It's not all styled up yet but here ya go.....

I. Am. Obsessed. With. This. Paper.

I love how moody this space is.....

Still waiting for the bed and pillows!

OK....Monday is the day of my mediation.  To say I am a ball of nerves is an understatement.  Whew....she said we could be there 6-8 hours....I think I would rather have a colonoscopy and a root canal on the same day.  Gah.

Every time I think about it I get the same feeling in my stomach as you get when the roller coaster gets to the top and then starts barreling down to the bottom.....

OK....enough whining!

PSA.....I found out that you can schedule a scope when you have a colonoscopy!  Check out ecan.org

Wowsa! Just beautiful, calm relaxing. I can imagine being curled up with a book and enjoying the quiet elegance. Thank you for sharing and best wishes for a positive outcome for you both on Monday.

I’ll be praying for you on Monday, Sherry. Psalm 31:4-5
This room is lovely with such elegant materials and colors!

That sitting area is to fantastic - so soothing. Will you add lamps when you style it?
I hope that Monday goes well - and the good things carry you through.

Sherry, lovely room! I’m amazed how the furniture can be updated and reupholstered and look so beautiful.

Isaiah 41:10 “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ESV A reminder to call out to God and lean on Him. Praying for you and your family.

It's lovely, Sherry! 10 years! How how how? I cannot believe I am in my 11th year of blogging and just starting to kind of understand how to do it. But not really. Hahahahahaha. Wishing you extra reserves of strength, secret sources of joy, and love to fill in all the gaps. Bon weekend, beautiful. xox

Oh my gosh.....it’s the most beautiful room! So pretty and elegant all of it, paper, the paint (pale pink ceiling is to die for), the fabric and the furniture, perfection! This one belongs in a magazine.
As for Monday, you will walk into the meeting with your head held high, remembering to breath, you will negotiate a perfect settlement for yourself. It’s going to be ok and we’re all going to be with you in spirit.

It's a beautiful sitting room. You knocked it out of the park!

I don't have any words for what you're going to have to deal with on Monday other than to be strong.

I feel so badly about your brother-in-law. Cancer affects far too many people.

Sherry, my comment seems to have disappeared. Let me try again.

What a transformation! So elegant and so inspiring to see how you tweaked her existing pieces. Thank you for sharing! Please share the finished room as well as I love your styling so much.

As for Monday, let me share a tip my therapist taught me in my teens. If/when things get tough, cross your right arm over your chest and place that hand on your left shoulder. As you do that imagine all of your family and friends embracing and supporting you during this difficult time. Take a deep breath in and fill yourself up with that love. No hurt can pierce the armor of that love. You are loved and you are lovable. xo

The psalms and quotations above are lovely and helpful; it is generous of the readers to share.

The room transformation is jaw-dropping and so, so beautiful! It amazes me how you bring just the right thing to every room you work on. There is never a disappointment. You have unbelievable talent.

Wishing you well on Monday.

That wallpaper is heavenly! And the furniture is gorgeous. Nice job reusing so many elements. Sorry you are stressed about Monday, but I understand why - that’s a long time to do what you will have to do. I know you will come through as a champion!

What an elegant transformation, especially the wallpaper, chests and ottoman! Velvet is so timeless.

Thanks for the ecan.org link. My scope is way overdue.

All the advice for the mediation is echoed here. We all love you Sherry!

I absolutely love the return of beautiful pretty layered interiors. The trims, the wallpaper, the fabrics are all so beautiful! Is it me or did the industry move away from that for awhile - Im seeing a return - and it is refreshing! One of my best friends just went through collaborative process and it was not fun - but she was a strong smart woman and she made it through - you will too! - Maurie

Sherry, I'm a new reader and I like your honesty and your designs.
2 Things:
1. Will your painter give his secret for the type of gold paint he uses on the dresser hardware, the door, and even the curtain rods, which I would think a paint would scrape off of with the rings? I've been thinking about updating some of my hardware with gold, and I'm also refinishing a little nightstand. I'd really appreciate a tip on what kind of paint to use for the gold hardware.
2. Your connection you feel to your readers is wonderful, natural, and understandable. It doesn't feel like you are blogging to sell stuff and not being real, like some I have followed. So comments about how you're doing and what you are facing fit right in. It also helps others to appreciate what they have, or see that they are not alone if they are also struggling.
I wish you the best and look forward to reading your blog for years to come.
And as they say these days, that wallpaper is "Everything!"

This room is stunning. Love everything but not feeling the fabric on the ottoman. I actually like the before more. Furniture updates are beautiful, refined and perfect in this setting. Hugs on your Monday terriblis.
