BEFORE AND AFTER

I have a real DIY before and after today.  Make no mistake....it was not me but a home I decorated about 7 years ago.

I am going to get right to it since I have a lot of explaining to do:)

Let's start with the beginning.
Here is the kitchen taken by Anthony-Masterson photographers and styled by Annette Joseph.

Dark cherry cabinets.  Which are fine except there comes a time when you just want a change right?

It all started with this area...
Where the chalk board is.

First thing to do is rip down the board and batten.

Add some electrical.  Also notice the fridge as it was not counter-depth and made it tight between the island.   That got addressed.

Hanging the ship lap.

This is the set up for the drying of the ship lap which was all painted before installation.

Moving to the main part of the kitchen....
Before....

During...uppers painted with new hood and microwave relocated.

After...bottoms painted!

Before....

The wine cabinet got moved....

Good coffee bar!

So I think you know what I am going to say right....stay tuned for Friday because I will finish up with the best part and all of the details!

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend.  We are in Florida doing some cleaning.  About as fun as a sharp stick in the eye right?

On the way down Saturday I mentioned to my husband that he might want to keep it close to the speed limit being a holiday weekend and all....

I don't know what it is when men get behind the wheel.  I feel like it's a video game and NO car can be in front of us.  Cause it's a race right?

Ha.....as the cop was pulling us over I wanted to shout "I told you so" at the top of my lungs....and even say to the nice policeman "I told him to slow down".....but I just chewed my tongue up cause I knew that would make the trip even longer right?

He did not get a ticket....or a warning.  That man is lucky because I would have not let that go.....

Last nights desert....
Fried oreo's.  Are you kidding me right now?

Loved that space. Can't wait to see the next edition.

In defense of your husband's heavy foot, I would think that after piloting a plane for decades that a car would seem very, very slow - ya think?
No ticket - lucky him!

Gorgeous! Can't wait to hear all of the details. I'm doing a double take on your countertop - it's the same, isn't it? Looks so much different with the change in the cabinets! I know mine took on a whole new identity after I painted mine - I actually like them now, where I didn't care for them before the cabinets were painted. Go figure. ;-)

The before could be my current kitchen. Now, I have a design plan when I decide to make a change! Gorgeous work. Love the hood.

Don't you just appreciate a client who wants a fresh take on something that was once so fantastically done at a previous time?! Lighter, brighter... Today! Loving the texture and openness you're creating, Sherry. I'm staying tuned for part II. :)

Wow! talk about updating a space. It looks amazing! It's all so fresh and pretty now. Seems like even the light changed in the room when you lightened things up. I love the cabinets painted gray and white and what you did over the stove.

Oh, crap. I've just been convinced that painting my cherry cabinets might be a good idea after all. Of course, it means changing out my granite... Thanks, Sherry.

Love it all!!! Made me wish we had painted our top cabinets white instead of doing all grey. Where did you find the rug for the kitchen? Love it. <3 Heidi

This is just gorgeous. Every detail comes together perfectly. I love it.

What material was used for the ship lap strips and how wide were the strips cut? I have been searching for tongue and groove knot-free material and have not been successful. This is beautiful and might be my answer. Any guidance? Thanks so much!

What is the name of the shade of white you used for the uppers? The kitchen looks beautiful! The granite looks very similar to what I'm getting in my kitchen, and my cabinets are due for some help. Thanks for the inspiration!
