Progress on Angie's house

You guys remember the house my friend Angie bought with the blue doors?  There was the discussion on whether to keep the color or paint them.  The consensus was NOT to paint or we would have Erin from House Of Turquoise to recon with.

I have a little update about how the renovation is going.  First I have to tell you guys that she is a Craigslist EXPERT [a person who has a comprehensive and authoritative knowledge of or skill in a particular area ].
You will not believe the deals she has found.  Let's start with the fridge.  Kitchenaide [same as mine] side by side WITH the decorator panel for $90.00

YES...that was NOT a typo...$90.00.  And here is the after
I was just speechless on the deal she got.  AND...here is another one.  A KitchenAid DW.  Just like mine that I paid $900.00 for......$350.00

The stove  is a Jenn Air downdraft [which she had to have] gas range for $1300.00 [retails for $2000.00]
which she also found on.....CL
Yep...no dents or anything.  I was just standing there with flies running in and out of my mouth.....shocked.

Here are a few more before and afters...
Kitchen...cheap oak cabinets already there.....painted white.  Notice the area to the left.  That is where the fridge had to go as you saw in the other picture above.

After...painted white...back splash from Floor and Decor, faucet on CL.  Countertop is black granite.  Her husband wanted Uba Tuba.....it took me 20 minutes and 5 pictures of black and white kitchens to persuade him otherwise.  He said that the black had no personality...I asked him "are you going to date the granite?"......WHY do men get so stuck on things...and how can I talk him into something when his own wife can't?????

I know that people are sick of seeing white kitchens...but you know what...they just work.  Classic...goes with anything and it is a heck of a lot easier to repaint the walls than kitchen cabinets don't cha think?

Before picture...kitchen behind wall to the right and after opening up wall...

I told her to paint the whole house BM Dove White.  It is a small house and fairly choppy.....Just getting rid of the blue trim helped.
After cutting out the wall.....

I found these on Overstock or something and then I showed them to her.  SHE then found them on "If you think you have found the best deal....put Angie on it".....a site I can not seem to find :)
Master bath.....very small.  They pretty much had to gut the whole thing.  Angie found all of the faucets and tile through out the house on CL also.  This vanity came from Ikea.

I'll have more next time I go over there.  All of the furniture was bought on CL.  After she bought one DR table, she found one she liked better.  So she just recently sold it for a $120.00 profit!!!

I swear if you need something for a DEAL...this is your girl.

Maybe your friend could provide training for remedial craigslist users. It all looks great and I will never get tired of white kitchens.

I think Angie should start a new blog "How to get a great deal on CL". She already has a huge following here, including me!
House looks great, can only imagine how wonderful the finished product will look!

Okay, CL in our area sucks! An ad for a stove will read: stove, white, works sometimes....
yeah, I have NO luck with CL. Or it will read,
sofa, excellent condition, like new....

So that was the time I drove almost three hours to said new sofa to find a broke down dilapidated sofa that I wouldn't have in a dog house!

I do NOT have the touch!

Gorgeous rooms!!

I am sooo jealous of all those Craig's Angels who find the most amazing deals! I never get that lucky! And I agree with the white kitchen.....classic and timeless. Looks awesome and based on her amazing "deal-finding" abilities and your design amazingness this place is only going to get better! Can't wait to see more.

Sounds like I might be related to Angie - I love a bargain! Although, I will say her CL skills to be better than mine. Making mental note to check CL next time I redo a kitchen. Wow. And you're right, white kitchens just work and taking out part of that wall really opens it up!

Great job!

My CL has garbage! Seriously. I get insanely jealous when I see how much stuff you have in the ATL area. What's up with that anyway? Do you think I can find a chair and ottoman to slipcover? Not a chance. So not fair!!! :-)

So is Angie available for hire??!!! Those CL deals are A-MA-ZING. I never find deals like that. Great job so far. The house looks amazing.

I love a deal, but am not sure I've ever found ones like that! Wow! I'm sure it took a lot of looking on her part, but she must feel so good!

Have a great week!

Who cares if people are getting tired of white kitchens, what can top them? What unbelievable deals and love the backsplash...and Uba Tuba, so glad you talked the husband out of that, I had it in my last house and was not a big fan.

Looking fabulous! Janell

Good for her and her amazing bargain hunting skills! It's so reminiscent of our kitchen reno - sourcing out as much high end stuff as we could find at rock-bottom prices! We did the same backsplash, painted our cupboards and installed black granite on our counter and we love the look! It is classic and fresh - I can't imagine ever having dark cabinets again!

I will never, ever tire of seeing a white kitchen. Dark cherry? Yes. White? No.
