My husband is out of town for the weekend so I think I will go to some flea markets and thrift stores. Here are a few pictures I found the other day at Antiques and Beyond on Cheshire Bridge Rd here in ATL.
Pink is all the rage......more
This chandelier with the pink crystals....
This plexiglass rolling cart....wanted.
Cool chest covered in raffia. Really wanted. I could do this but I am too lazy.
Old lantern. I want to change out my DR chandelier....it would be my 3rd change in 18 years. Why can't I just be happy. I am happy. Why can't I be satisfied with what I have. I am....just bored.
I do want a new coffee table in my LR. Something a little retro, maybe brass. I am full of wants aren't I. But I can change it because it is 15 years old. It is only my second one.....
You know, we don't always get what we want...like I say to my husband when he says "I want you to do your taxes this weekend" I say...well I want an IPad and I'm not getting what I want ?????
Another little beauty. Just waiting for a new home.
Is this not the cutest face????
This is what she got her paw caught in a few months back. Yep...uh huh. I coyote trap that somebody set on the nature trail in my neighborhood. Is your mouth still open?
If you don't think this is a story......let me just say "drama"! There is a small hill on the trail and I was at the top with my other dog and I heard this really loud wail. I thought it was a cat. I kept hearing it all the while I was whistling for patches to come. Then I went stomping back down the hill to see where she was and I saw her laying down. I realized then that it was HER making that noise.
As I got closer I thought..."dang it's a snake" But when I walked up I just looked at it like WTF is this???? I tried to open it...are you kidding me...at that moment I started to panic. I am looking around, thinking what the heck am I going to do while she is wailing in my face. SO...literally I just braced myself and it was like I was the "green hornet" for a minute. It opened a little and she whipped her paw out and went running. She was fine...me on the other hand, I was still sweating.
I just stood there in shock. Then I started following it to where the base was and pulled it out of the ground. I was so confused, thinking it was from the civil war or something like that. I mean I walk this trail EVERY day.
As I finished my walk through the trail and around the block, I got home and called my friend Jan. Now SHE is the ultimate animal lover. Remember...I really did not know what it was or why it was there. She came flying over and flipped out. It looked rusted and had leaves and pine straw all over it. It looked MEAN.
As it turned out there was a neighborhood meeting that very night. She jumped on her scooter with the trap and headed there. Oh yea...all fired up. Ready to whoop some ass. Long story short....after she explained the event with as much drama as she could...I was getting phone calls all week asking if Patches was OK....AND...all traps were removed due to the fact that they had NOT gotten a permit!
Here is my thought...say you catch a coyote. AND....he has been trapped and he is HUNGRY and PISSED off that he is stuck. Then what will you do. Some people do not think things through.....
So...we have a winner...some pretty flea market finds and a story.
Now if you see this riding around this weekend....then you know I had a successful time hunting for treasures. Wave and say HI.....
Hope you have an awesome weekend.

How awful. I can't believe someone would put out that trap where other animals or people could have stepped in that. What were they thinking or rather they weren't thinking. I need a small coffee table, too to replace the ottoman in my sitting room. Oh, the thrill of the hunt. I will wave when I see you with your truck load!!
WTF? I'm glad your sweet little Patches is okay! And I didn't notice anyone taking my picture while I was driving the truck! :) Happy weekend!!!!!
oh Sherry, I'm so glad Patches is ok...
I've seen dogs caught in traps around my area too...it's so sad because usually it's the kids who go looking for their dog and find it in the trap...if you think you were confused you should look at the faces of the kids when they find their pet...I know, it happened to my cousins and their dog...the dogs foot was mangled..
congratulations to Rachel...
and hope you had fun thrifting...

Hang on. I'll be right over! You guys keep all the good stuff down there and I'm sick of hearing about it. Shotgun!!!
So many great finds...adore the coffe table and the lantern!! Happy Friday, Sherry ~
I can not even believe that trap- horrendous!!! So glad that Patches is alright- poor little guy. On a happier note, I'll take one of each of your finds please- that shop looks amazing!!
Thank you for telling this story. That's awful. However, your finds are fab. Have a wonderful weekend!
Horrible trap... liked your story
As usual Sherry, you do such a good job of injecting humor in your writing that while horrified at poor Patches' experience, I found my self laughing at the strong visuals (a trapped, hungry, pissed coyote that no one knows what to do with!)
BTW love the lantern and raffia covered chest (which I too could do, but am too lazy as well.) Have fun in your "singledom" and wanderings this week-end!!!

I cannot believe someone already called SHOTGUN! Damn. Enjoy girlie!
ohhhhhhhh myyyyyy god, that close up picture of your doggies little sweet face is soooo cute! I can't believe she got her paw caught in a trap, that's crazy! Love how you got the power of 10 men and pried it open. And nice shopping pics, that last chandelier is really cool.

OMG, your poor little baby. Isn't it amazing how our mommy bear instinct kicks in even with our animals. Is she a Wheaton Terrier? She looks exactly like my Wheaton. Thanks for all the laughs and the great show of goodies. Have a great time antiquing and thrifting this weekend.
Congrats to the winner..I'll check out her new blog. Traps like that really bug me....Glad your friend made her point clear!!! If and when I come visit the ATL....I'll bring a truck just like that....That truck looks so North Georgia!!!! Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend!
Eeeek! I'm so excited about this I could just scream. Thanks so much Sherry!
Poor Patches!!! What a horror story. I would have FREAKED out. I'm glad she's okay. P.S. Hey, when did you take a picture of my truck? :D
*** OMG!!! The "person" (for want of a better word) who PUT that there (and maybe OTHER spots!) needs the SAME THING to happen to HIM (!!!!!!!!!!) .... end of "problem"! (Lord, I am SOOOO upset by this!!!)...
Yep, the ULTIMATE animal-lover, that's me... (even my e-mail address says my girl's name!)...
Blessings to you both!

I am so happy you were there and knew what to do. OMG poor Patches. Is she OK? I too am an animal lover. I'm not saying I am a big fan of coyotes, but why would anyone make another living thing suffer. It gives me the chills to know what you and Patches went through. If I lived closer I would have raced your friend to the town meeting.
I hope you and Patches have a wonderful weekend. Give her an extra treat from me.
Oh dear I almost forgot to congratulations to Gilly! She is one lucky girl. xo
BAck at you, Sherry and congrats to Rachel! Love Antiques and Beyond-- used to prowl around there regularly when I was a grad student at Emory. Think I may have to pop in... :)
Oh my God Sherry...what a story. My heart was racing as I read it and I was on the verge of tears. Poor Patches...I think it's your years of strength training Green Hornet. Glad your puppy is OK!
Oh my Sherry that is so frightening, I am so sorry that patches stepped on that, what if a human or a child stepped on that. You are right people just don't think things through. Now, Honey you need to think things through if you plan on buying that much stuff!! Have fun treasure hunting, KS
Unbelievable story. Makes me cringe just thinking about it. I'm not sure I could have gotten my little dog out of that thing with tons of tears! M.
drooling... want to do a raffia covered desk...
I want it all too. Wondering how hard it would be to cover a chest in grasscloth? I'm so glad your dog is ok - senseless.

Oh my goodness, what a load!
That is such a crazy story - I would have freaked my @#$Q#%$. So glad Patches is okay. We've had coyotes around here howling but I hope no one decides to put out traps. Scary.
On a lighter note, I too love the grasscloth/raffia cabinet. I might try the same thing with a parsons table if I can get my mitts on a cheap one.
Oh glad patches is ok now! .......love that desk!!
I can't decide if I like the lucite table, coffee table, or little rafia chest best. You found some great things!
That is the scariest story ever about your sweet dog. Coyotes are baaaaad but trap where everyone (even a child) could step on is way worse.
Glad your pooch is okay…sweetest face!
