When I bought this mirror at Ballard's Backroom, I loved the shape but really did not like the color/finish.
It is part of the Suzanne Kasler Collection. BUT.....of course it was a great deal. It was the only one in there that day and when I saw it, I practically [I have no pride!] ran through a crowd of shoppers like my hair was on fire. I wrapped my arms around it like it was George Clooney and proudly took it to the register, no looking back. I really was not quite sure whether I was going to paint it or not.
After I got home I remembered that I had this Liming Wax and was dying to try it out on something.
I started on the back of the mirror, yes I have learned a thing or two about changing the finish of something, to see what the result would be. OMG....I was loving the outcome, so I preceded to the front and I like it so much better. In fact, I think they should sell it with this finish. They didn't ask me, but that is my humble opinion. Of course it would look cool painted black [what doesn't] or any color. The shape is brilliant. I would like to put it in every room.
Here it is in all it's glory
I just noticed how crappy the orchid was fitting in the mirrored vase. Dang...why didn't I fix that???
I am curious as to what anyone else thinks. Original finish, or the limed finish????

you totally rocked that one out, babe. It's much better 'after.'
great job...
I vote for limed!
Limed for sure! The finish looks great. Did you just rub the wax on and it make that finish?
So much better. The original finish was awful. I would love it black too.
Fabulous "redo". I'll have to remember the liming wax.
I love it with the lime wax finish no question! it looks amazing! you do have the best ideas!!
Liming wax!! But, what is liming wax. How do you apply it?
LIMED! It looks fabulous!!!
You apply it just like shoe polish. Leave a little in the crevices and corners...Start out light and you can always put more on :)
I love the finish you did on it. I have never seen that stuff before. I will have to check that stuff out.
Oooh, this is good! Now, what can I try liming wax on???
Limed!
I love this! I am going to have to find something at my house to Lime!
LOVE the limed finish!
I feel like a broken record, but I love it! And yes, Ballard should sell it in this color. I would probably never have noticed it otherwise. Nice choice!
Love it! It looks so much better!
Looks so great. I want to find something in my house to lime!
It looks great. I love that mirror. I couldn't help but laugh when seeing your picture of Briwax liming wax...my sister did not have an easy time with it: http://lifeingraz.blogspot.com/2010/08/diy-damn-irritating-yo.html
But, her table turned out good!
Love it! But you are right, it would look great in any color.

Your mirror looks great! I wonder if I have the endurance to lime my grandmother's old buffet which is a very sad shade of brown. Hmm. Thanks for the inspiration!
Liming wax....amazing!!! I am so going to try that out on a mirror that I have! Thanks for the idea!!!
Quick question. Where did you find the Liming Wax? I read Carolyn's sister's experience (which was hilarious, by the way), and it sounds like she couldn't find it at Lowe's or Home Depot and had to order it online. Did you order yours online or could you find it in a retail store?
Thanks!
Kathy
LIMED!! Definitely limed!!
Lou Cinda :)
looks amazing!
Wow...that looks so much better! Gotta get me some liming wax! Lisa
Your mirror looks beautiful, that is some cool stuff! I'm gonna have to go find out more about this liming wax!
Thank you !! It is a product that I was totally unaware of, and cannot wait to try it out. Now off to thriftstore for a piece to work the lime magic on !!
Where do you get liming wax?
Restoration carries it in some stores. You could probably google it to find in your area. If you live in Atlanta, you can get it at Scott's antique market.
