WHOOPS

The last post I did on Room Service Atlanta, I left out a room that a good friend of mine did.  I felt like such a poop head especially when she emailed me with a "sad face" saying she forgave me.

Nobody likes to be left out....so I am dedicating this post to my girl Jennifer Schoenberger.  Who is hilarious and very talented...and I am also declaring July 5th "Jennifer Schoenberger Day".

You remember how I went on and on about her room last year?

I mean painting those numbers on the 3 white refrigerators that HAD TO STAY was brilliant to me.  Just saying.

How about we take a look at this years before picture.

Yeah...this room should have a big ole sad face on it.  How could you even think of making a better life for yourself if your surroundings looked like this.

So Jen had a plan....which you can read about here and take a look at the finished space.

She made those burlap curtains....

Now before you get all "why does she deserve her own day"....
Here are more pictures of her work...

How about a little kitchen "redo" she helped with....

Yeah...who is sneering now right?
...wowza!

And then there is her beach house makeover...
Which you can take a look at here

Barn door envy.

I think you will agree that she did not deserve to be left out....and I am not sure if they will declare her "day" an international holiday or anything....but I think you will all agree she can "do a little decorating" alright.

In other news....have you guys been to Hancocks and seen the printed burlap?

It was news to me....

And last.....I posted this on Instagram but just in case there is one person out there that did not see it...cause I busted out in a whole open mouth laugh when I read it....

We are building Arks here in wet Atlanta.....

ROOM SERVICE ATLANTA PART 3

I almost forgot to post the last images I have from Room Service Atlanta.

#loser.

As I said before these designers knocked it out of the park and they deserve recognition.

Come on..... they had rooms with kitchens AND baths.

Whoa sister.

First up is my girl Erika Ward.  Yeah.....girl has 4 kids and finds time to create this beautiful space. #superwoman

How cute.....you need to go see all of her before and after pictures here

This space was designed by Justin Williams.  I could not find a website for him :(

I love a well layered bed....this space was designed by Helen Harbin Davis  I wish I had more shots of this room.....

Loved the dark walls....and I saw that light fixture at World Market the other day.

More creativity from designer Kellie Griffin

Wonder where she got those antlers...cool.

Olivia Westbrook designed this whimsical space...Loving the mint green.

Just look at these awesome painted  cabinets.....

Could you die over this headboard?
Eddie Ammonds Brumbaugh did a great job in this room.

My buddies Joann and Kelly killed their space....

One of the things I love is the paint color....the soft gray does a good job of highlighting all the color in the pillows and curtains.

Spunky little dining area.  And yes....I saw these yellow chairs at World Market yesterday for 50% off.  I tried really hard to think of someone who needed them!

Go here to see the before and afters.

I loved being surprised when I walked into the rooms to see the colors they selected for their kitchens.

There was gray....

More green.

Navy.

And black with that awesome gold TAPED fridge!
Shut up with that bad boy.

Things to remember when looking at all of this awesomeness....the designers had to raise money....scour flea markets.....and get it done in about a month.

If you missed my other post you can read them here and here.

Enjoy this LAST day of June......HELL....I am not believing tomorrow is July 1st.

Shabooyah!

ROOM SERVICE PART 2

Thank you so much for all of your touching comments about my husbands retirement.  I was amazed to hear from a reader who was actually on the same flight [Chicago to Atlanta] with me.....how coincidental is that!

I have settled into having him home and the nightmare that he might just want dinner EVERY NIGHT.  What was maybe frozen pizza once a week.....could take an ugly turn.....

But let's not dwell on the negative right?  I have a few more RSA projects to show you.

I met Kari Fisher a few years back at an event called Pillow Talk.  There were 5-6 designers who had to design a pillow and then we talked about the impact they can have in a room.  They practically had to yank me off the stage as we all know I can become a bit of a bore when speaking of those lovely plump boogers..

Here are some pictures of Kari's room.

First up is this incredible wall treatment....you dig?

Seriously this packs a huge punch for this small windowless room.

How cute are these pillows?   Love the pom pom's on the corners.....
Since we did out little talk Kari has gone on to design her own line of fabrics and pillows.

Meanwhile I have gone on to do squat.

Here are a few from her collection....Kari Fisher Designs

I think I'm in love.

I want one......

On Sunday I went to the RSA open house at the United Methodist Children"s Home to see all the rooms first hand.  I have to tell you I was blown away by the creative genius of every single room!  Some of the designers do not have blogs so I will be sharing more inspiring spaces with you.

Having lunch with Steve and Jill Mckenzie this afternoon at their awesome home furnishing store!

The humidity in Atlanta is 100% today.

ROOM SERVICE ATLANTA 2013

I have participated in Room Service twice now, but this time I had too much on my plate to make it happen:(

Honestly it is a ton of hard work......but so worth it.  I love that you really have to think outside the box to be creative.

I have a few images of completed rooms today that are just incredible!

One of the founders,  the talented Dayka Robinson  put this room together.  You have got to see the before.....

Kristin Jackson of the Hunted Interiors designed this room....she is incredibly creative!

Another talented designer, Jennifer Reynolds created this fun space.  Love these fun colors....

My good friends Lori May, Angela [The Painted House] and Rhoda teamed for this inspired and artistic space in the girls cottage.

Most of the rooms had small kitchens AND baths to makeover also!

And my girl Rhonda Peterson put together this bad boy!  We spent a lot of time together when I did the Cathedral Show House this winter.....laughing.....laughing.....and staring at pictures of her hunk of burning love husband....seriously hot!

My good friend Ally [From The Right Bank] started her project with this incredible sofa....so "Palm Beach"......

Everyone of these designers raised and.......spent their own money....plus worked their "ass" off to give these homeless children an inviting space to live.

There were 2 cottages this time....one for girls and another for boys.  There are more designers and more before and afters to share with you.....so stay tuned.

Oh yeah there is one more little bit of news........My husband is retiring his flying career from United Airlines, so on Saturday I am heading up to Chicago to take his last trip with him.

On Sunday we will fly to Hong Kong....for 36 hours.....yup.....something like 16 hours in the air one way.

16 HOURS!!!

Gurl....is gonna be tired and cranky.....just saying.

AND......the final thing is about Mary Ann from Classic.Casual.Home.  She has a giveaway that is close to her heart that supports ROWAN, Rural Orphans & Widows Aids Network.  Please go visit and read about this worthy cause.

You guys are more than awesome......

A new look and a new adventure!

I treated myself to a little birthday gift by having a blog makeover.  Shari from Little Blue Deer whipped up this little number for me and I am clicking my heels together.  She read my mind [long distance by the way] and mine is hard to read.  Not a "Charlie Sheen" mind, but still a sketchy at times :)

I am pleased to tell you guys about a Non Profit organization that I was asked to participate in.  It is called Room Service  and was put together by Dayka of Life and Style and Erica of Blu Label Bungalow

"One shelter at a time...we're sharing our talents to help create comfortable, relaxing, and inspiring interiors for homeless families as they work to get back on their feet"

                                                                                Dayka Robinson and Erica Ward
                                                                                co-founders of Room Service Atlanta

Monday, we went to Nicholas House to look at the shelter and preview the space.  There are 12 rooms and a common area.

Each designer picked a room to makeover.  It was a very humbling experience.  These families have all of their possessions in a room about 12 by 12 [some smaller and a few larger].  They are allowed to live there up to 2 years and Nicholas House spends the time educating, and preparing them to be out and self sufficient after that.  Kids go to school and parents work.

Here is the room I chose.  It is actually empty, but they are interviewing a family for it right now.  This room will be home to a family of 8.......pause.....think about that for a moment.

Mine also has a bathroom.

So as you can see I have a lot of work ahead.  I plan on asking all of my friends to "pony" up with some labor or cash...which ever they prefer.  Because it takes a village as you know :)

I am a little overwhelmed but I know once I get my plan together I will be like a dog chasing a squirrel.  I know one girl I am going to put on it...Angie and her amazing CL skills.  I need a new queen mattress...a desk, chair, bathroom vanity....the list goes one.  This project has to be completed in April!

So...let the games begin:)
