NEW PROJECT

So funny that the ORC started this week because I got a call from my client who so generously allowed me to detail the designs of her den during my first go around.

In fact the outside of her home was featured in Southern Living.

This time she wants to pull her LR together.  It is a  narrow room and when you enter from the foyer here is your view.

We are going to work with the sofa...and we will talk more about that later.  Lucky for me she had an inspiration image.

She loved this collection of blue and white porcelain and wanted to incorporate some in her room.

Cue me jumping up and down.
I love this look.

There is not room to move the sofa forward allowing for a table behind.....so I had another thought.

After I got home and did a floor plan I realized that the area on the right and left of the entrance to the family room is going to be too far away from the "conversation area"...so let's just make it pretty.

Yeah.  Why the hell not.

I put together a rather primitive board.

OK....shut up all you "olioboard pros".

Design tip #1:  There is only one window in the room [opposite] so I wanted to create the illusion of more windows by using the 2 mirrors.

Design tip #2:  It's nice to have a little symmetry in a room....

Design tip #3:  There are no rules in design anymore so these are old school.

If you have been reading my blog for any length of time you will remember my header used to be this.

I am a BIG fan of blue and white porcelain .

Tina from The Enchanted Home has a store chock full of this stuff.

My good friend and blogger extraordinar Emily Clark has recently started a collection.

So get on the bandwagon and get yourself some.

Anyway...I will keep you updated as we put the whole room together along with more incredible design tips :)

Y'all have a good weekend.

Well, you know I love this look. I love that inspiration image with the rattan table mixed in. All of my favorite things.

You know I love it. I currently have 4 pieces on my dining room table (which I should just have 3 but I just got a new one and didn't know where to put her)! That room will look gorgeous!!

Southern Living better get ready to snag the rights to the inside of their house too! Looking forward to seeing you work your magic, Sherry.

awesome look. please share some of the sources you'll use - or is that top secret designer info? I would hate it if you had to kill me after you revealed your sources. I was just thinking today about a pair of demilunes like you've proposed, gray of course. and I am also considering the blue and white ware, just need it to be reasonably priced. ok...cheap.

Love the inspiration and hope we get to everything when it's done. We've got blue and white fireplace tile so I'm hoping to throw some blue and white ceramics into the room to make it seem less out of place. I'm sure what you do in this room will help me gather some inspiration for my own!

The sommelier opened the wine, to let it breath on its own. I suggested aerating the wine since we had less time than originally planned, however he looked at me like I had two heads. The idea of using a wine aerator must have been a major faux pas to him.

That front door is beyond curb appeal. Your client's inspiration pictures are some of my favorites. This will be a room I want to live in, I can just tell.

It’s always nice when clients and designers like similar things, the work is much nicer then. Talking about the white-blue combination, it’s great! I recently ordered pillow covers with white-blue tie-die effect and gold zippers for my condo apartment and it freshened up the interior more than I would have said :) hugs, Kay
