Whew! What a week.....we had to have some windows replaced cause.....well they were rotten. I mean shabby chic looks good inside the house but not so good on the outside.
You could almost stick your finger through the wood. Also remember when I told you about sitting in my chair [in the small keeping area] and the leg broke? I fell back....the corner of the chair hit the window and BAM....broke about three windowpanes. It was ugly. We fixed it real nice with some duct tape. Don't laugh...serious.
Then we left it like that all winter. What do you think my neighbor thought about that? You know the one I wrote about here.
I'm sorry...got side tracked. My point is that yellow pollen is all over my house.
But I don't have time to address that issue cause I have a post to finish and then get myself to Scott's.
Priorities.
I don't think I will have time to give all the before and afters of the room.....but we will make some headway.
I left you with the makeover of the foyer and y'all were so sweet! Many asked for the color of the door and it was SW Urbane Bronze. First time I have used it after reading how wonderful it is on so many blogs.
I agree.
Now before I go any further let me say this. I am so appreciative that my clients let me post pictures of their home. Just remember.....if you don't like something please just don't say anything. You must keep in mind that when I work with clients I have parameters, budgets and limitations. I am there to work with what they have and give them their style.
In posting the afters....hopefully I can spark some inspiration in your own home. Design is not rocket science......we are not curing cancer.....I am hired to help pull everything together to create a home.
OK...yada...yada.
Here is the before picture of the bookshelves and fireplace.
Remember when I posted about the vintage Atlanta map? It was to go over the mantle but no matter what I tried I think it is not going to be big enough so I am looking for a piece of art. Meanwhile I left what she had and tried to make it pretty for her company. She had everything but the box which I picked up at a flea market. We recovered the small stools.
I went in the back yard and cut down some bamboo branches....
You can see the curtains are very simple....just sheers...no lining. You can scroll back up and see that I also reworked the bookshelves and added some items....We have some leftover wallpaper from the foyer and I want to use it for the back of these.
Before..
They have a 9 month old so I thought this red pouf from West Elm would be great! Plus it added some color to this side of the room. The rug was staying but I layered an 8 x 10 over it....
This is the bookshelf to the right of the FP. On the third shelf from the top I used a beautiful small oil that I got from my friend Michele [she is so talented] I have been looking for a special project to use this!
The TV had already been hung in the corner for optimal viewing of college football. From what I understand life pretty much stops during that season. I bet they put flags on their car....am I right guys?
Another picture of the curtains...
Remember these floral chairs?
They are now sporting a more neutral nubby blue.
And the after of this beauty...
OK.....we will continue this on Monday....boy I can drag it out huh?
We did not change the paint color...it was a good neutral. We did move some furniture around...which you will see.
Must get my big butt moving.....
Try and drag out the weekend people!

Great changes and I forgot it is Scott's time again. Darn I wish I wasn't saving for France. Oh, wait yes I am. The pollen has been awful, but boy that rain cleaned it away.
Beautiful! Love the red poof and new accessories. What is the wall color?

I'm enjoying seeing the changes you've made on this project. I have a question: how did you decide where you would hang the curtains at the french door? Would hanging them higher (like near the ceiling) look crazy? Just wanted to understand the thought process. Thanks!
bamboo leaves! why have I never thought of that.
your changes are great examples of how just a lil touch here and there can make a big difference. wish i had half your talent, sherry. donna
I always love your before and afters, you make such a difference for the homeowner! that chair and the ottomans, and the pouf! Wow, just all of it has been totally changed, the homeowner must be thrilled, xo Kathysue
Great way to change the room without changing everything. I like that you refurbished items instead of buying new! Thanks for sharing.
You know what I love is that cut bamboo! It looks so free and pretty. My neighbor has a big stand of bamboo growing behind her house. I might have to sneak out there after dark one night and help myself. I do things like that. Happy weekend!

Painting the chair black was a great Idea...all looks fresh and pretty. Love to watch you work your magic.
They are smart peeps to hire Sherry - you were able to make updates for them that they'll have for a long time.

Boy, can you make a reveal last a week. Looking good, but I want to see more. I have some rotting on the outside of my home, too. Not looking forward to that.
Whoa, looks awesome. It amazes me how much just adding the bamboo did for the whole room..., the chairs are so wonderful now too. I love the fabric. I also really like the wall paint color, i'm so glad you pointed it out, do you know what it is, it really is a good neutral. I'll tell ya, you can really pull a room together girl...

Love what you did to the room AND I LOVE the vintage 6 pack of coke bottles!! I will need to keep an eye open for another. Beautifully done my friend!! xo
I love the simplicity of black and white. It makes anything look elegant and classy. Love that last chair ;) xo Kristin
I'm happy this post was priority over cleaning up the pollen! Fabulous, my friend, every bit just fabulous!
Love it all! You're a master of shelf styling (and I totally agree with your comment that if you don't like something, just don't say anything. I couldn't imagine paying for a designer, allowing them to post pictures, and then getting criticized!) Not that it's ever an issue with your fabulous work. :)
So much inspiration i here. Now I know where to start.
