THIS AND THAT

Remember me?  Yep.... kind of fell off the grid there for a moment but it's summer so I am sure no one noticed:)

We took a little spin up to Chicago [Naperville] to to visit my husbands Dad who is 98 but first we dropped off Cami at her favorite "home away from home"!

Where I can safely say my phone battery dies everyday while I am watching her on "doggy cam":)

Her best friends Mom sent me this....

The cutest huh?

We stayed at Hotel Indigo right on the river and it was very nice!

Y'all.....this visit was just a little depressing.  20 years ago I might not have felt that way but at my age......I see reality looming in the future.....

And I am not happy about it.  This is not what I have in mind.....

Lined up in wheelchairs watching [and I use the term loosely] movies, and playing bingo.  In your room you have a bed, chest and chair.  So look around and drink in all of your pretty decorating because in the end.....it's not gonna really matter.

I think I need to stop exercising because I do not want to live this long.  Here is the text I sent my sister....

I noticed that the ratio was 10 women to 1 man living there and same with the caretakers.  I turned to my husband and commented how important "we" [women] are to society.

This is how I closed out that night....

We saw lot's of family....my brothers daughter Cat who lives in the city.  Since we live in Atlanta we drive everywhere and decided to drive into Chicago....what the heck were we thinking?  And that is what everyone said to us.  Stupid tourist.

And how ironic that I picked up this book to read....it's good but of course you know how it is going to end which is sad.

Are y'all ready for some good news yet?  I mean right?

Well next Monday one of my projects is getting photographed for Southern Home!

It's owned by Hoffman Media and I am pretty pumped!

I went house hunting with a friend....which I could do everyday all day.

All stairs will now be painted white with cute runners [this one from Dash and Albert].  It won't hurt to have brick floors at the bottom either.

This homeowner painted these dining room walls.....yes please.

Of course I love a good gallery wall but grids are my jam....

The one she ended up purchasing had these window treatments in the bedroom.....we were all fighting over them until she turned and said "um I'm keeping these babies"....

Oh yeah....of course....right.

AND.....you might notice that I had a little blog refresh!  My favorite girl Shari from Little Blue Deer worked her magic!

I like to just call her up and say "do your thing".....

OK....enough about my life.  Back to deliveries, design plans and getting through the Atlanta humidity with my hair.

BOTANICALS

Good Lord you guys.....I gotta tell ya my computer is giving me hives.  I spent all week curating my ORC post so it was perfect.  I kept editing and adding so I could tell the story with interest.

I was excited to get up Wednesday morning and all I had to do was push "publish" right?  Well 5 seconds later I get an email from Linda [girl is on it] telling me to add the link list for everyone else.

I am scratching my head as I view my post and realize in shock that it had published my first draft.  WTH....is this a cruel joke?  Am I being "punked"?

Crikey I had to edit it as quickly as I could and get it back out there plus I had somewhere to be [which is why I did it early].

Life can be tricky sometimes huh?

When I posted the picture of those botanicals many of you were like "where can I get them?"  Since they were purchased about 7 years ago I did some research for you and here is what I came up with.

First I went to Ballard Designs.

I love the black background of these.....

So many good options.

OK...these aren't botanicals but they are pretty cool for impact!

Then I headed over to Art.com and lookey lookey......

I found a gob of these.....
Some of them are the exact ones that were used in my post.

I am reminded that botanicals are classic and always will be.  Not to sound like a broken record but I have had these for 15 years and even though they aren't in my LR anymore I am still using them in my guest room.

Of course while I was browsing the Ballard site I saw a few new items that caught my eye like these velvet pillows!

I saw that Element of Style did a good post on botanicals recently.....here

And you might have noticed my new look!  I got in touch with Shari from Little Blue Deer to update my website and just decided to fluff up my blog a the same time.  She is the best!

Hope y'all have a great weekend.  I will be working on my ORC room so I can have a little something to post about next Wednesday!

I am so behind in everything:)

The rest of Scott's plus a little Ikea

You can score some great artwork at Scott's.  Well really you can get just about anything there.....it is like "one stop shopping"......

Somebody asked me the other day "is stuff cheap?".  Yes....and no.

You can get deals..... when you think of what the retail price would be.  The best part about it [in my opinion] is getting things from creative people who have either built, or scavenged.  They do all the work for you.

When I shopp for my clients, I am trying to keep their room from looking " brand spanking new".

I always want to give it a little patina....throw a little dirt in there.

Anyway...back to some crazy good art.

One of my favs.....Andrea Costa.  If you remember, I used some of her work in my bank project here.
Here are a few pictures of recent work.

I am actually going to use this one on a Lake Burton project.....purdy huh?

I love her colors......

I would SO love to have this one in my home......

Serious talent.....

This one would look great in my LR....someday!  I'm greedy...want them all....

Love the colors...Bill Harrison.

Another pretty one...

He has been painting on the Alabama and Florida coast for 30 years.  Call Carolyn Huff @ 251 232 5102 for info.

My favorite colorway in this pattern.....

From Scott's to Ikea.....whoa....kind of scary.

It's Friday.....what cha up to?????

By the way....my wonderful, talented blog designer Shari Miller of Little Blue Deer added a pinterest,  before and after, and community giveback [need to add pictures of the Nicholas House to that one]  buttons for me.

I still love the way my blog looks......which is saying something since I can't seem to NOT get tired of everything else......in a nano second!
